Everyone was stunned.
They all quickly realized that the one who made the move was none other than Liu Wanrong herself.
She pointed with her finger, shooting a blast of sword aura that penetrated the head of that middle-aged man of average build.
That man’s eyes were thrown wide open, never anticipating Liu Wanrong to make a move right away just like that.
All who were present were just as stunned. All of them were Celestial Realm beings, as those who had yet to reach the Celestial Realm were not even allowed to be there.
Despite that, Liu Wanrong took care of one of them just like that.
Liu Wanrong casually said, “Who the hell do you think you are? Do you really think my son’s establishment is something the likes of you could take? My son may no longer be around, but don’t any of you think for even a second that all of the Lu Clan is dead. Don’t think that you could just bully the rest of us whom you may see to be pitiful and weak.”
Pitiful and weak?
Question marks could have practically popped out over everyone’s head, as they wondered since when did anyone of the Lu Clan look pitiful and weak.
What Liu Wanrong just did make it very clear that she saw the Heavenly Palace as Lu Xuan’s personal asset, which clashed with how several other people saw it.
At the very least, many saw the organization to be semi-governmental where Lu Xuan fostered many capable people for it.
The Heavenly Palace was not Lu Xuan’s personal asset!
When Liu Wanrong made an appearance, however, many people realized almost immediately that the Heavenly Palace’s affairs were not as simple as they thought.
Liu Wanrong scanned the crowd and asked, “Does anyone else have anything to say?”
At that moment, a man dressed in a Chinese tunic suit and sported a goatee rose and protested, “While the Heavenly Palace was indeed established by the Palace Lord, this is not to say that the place is his personal asset. Furthermore, you’re still technically an outsider. While you may be the Palace Lord’s mother, you do not have the right to meddle in the internal affairs of the Heavenly Palace!”
About a dozen other Celestial Realm beings rose at the same time as well. It became obvious that they had their own agenda with the Heavenly Palace, which then had just lost their leader.
“Alright, anyone else?” She remained seated on her chair as she looked at those people with an increasingly cold look.
Those ambitious bunch had already been in the Heavenly Palace when Lu Xuan had just established the place. Given the place’s size, it was something almost inevitable.
It had not been long since the Heavenly Palace went on to foster their own people. The members from before had all been drafted from other cultivation forces, after all.
However, Lu Xuan’s attitude was such that he did not care at all. He simply wanted the Heavenly Palace’s strength and resources to do what he wanted to get done.
He hardly even cared if the Heavenly Palace still existed after that.
Liu Wanrong saw it differently. It was natural for her to see the place to be her son’s personal asset, thus making it the Lu Clan’s asset as well.
Lu Xuan might not have cared enough and simply let those people be. Compared to a colossal dragon like him, those people were just insects that he could have taken out in a whim if he wanted.
However, his mother saw fit to not let those people keep doing what they were about to do.
The current situation was the perfect time for her to clean the Heavenly Palace of all that filth once and for all.
“That is correct. We all do not think that you’re eligible to interfere with the Heavenly Palace, my lady. This is not the affair of the Lu Clan, after all.”
The dozen of them spoke their minds almost at the same time.
The death of that middle-aged man did not perturb them at all, as all of them were backed by powerful forces. None of them were simple folk.
“How bold of you all indeed.”
Liu Wanrong smirked and commented.
“My son was the one who established the Heavenly Palace, so this is naturally my son’s asset. Anyone who dares to take this place for their own shall have their hands chopped off.”
“My lady, forgive us for our insubordination if you’re unwilling to step aside.”
All of those people were jeering and made their moves right away at Liu Wanrong.
“Take care of them,” Liu Wanrong shouted. The rabbit, which stood by her side obediently like a cat, leaped right away and grew to the height of two grown humans. Its short tail extended to the length of a whip.
Whap!
Whap!
Whap!
As soon as they all charged at her, they were whipped at their faces and instantly sent flying.
Everyone else heard sounds of bones being broken.
“That’s one hell of a demon!”
Some were shocked to the core at the sight of the massive rabbit having taken care of over a dozen Celestial Realm cultivators within mere moments.
That terrifying demonic qi it emitted was something that completely overwhelmed every single one of them, suppressing their inner qi so badly that it became hard to even breathe.
That is a monster king like no other!
All of them were among the best cultivators to be found in all of Huaxia, and they without a doubt knew that a great many monster kings were lurking in the country, and every single one of them was incredibly terrifying.
The only reason why they laid low was that they knew that their current level of powers prevented them from taking on the humans as a whole.
Such knowledge also compelled them to be more diligent in their training because the price of failing to keep up was to see massive numbers of people killed.
If humans weren’t powerful enough, they would no longer be the dominant species of the world.
Despite all that having been said and done, it was nonetheless their first time seeing such a fact at work before their eyes.
All of them recalled that they heard rumors of the Lu Clan kept a very ferocious rabbit in their midst. Lu Xuan’s little sister, Lu Guoguo, once rode that rabbit and rammed a Celestial Realm being to death.
From the looks of things, they knew that they were looking at that very rabbit.
“What? You puny punks want to take my master’s Heavenly Palace for your own then?” A very human expression was seen on that rabbit’s face.
The crowd wore rather peculiar expressions about what they just heard. The dozen or so people who were then moaning on the ground and looking as if they were about to kick the bucket, were anything but ‘puny’ after all. They were all solid Celestial Realm cultivators and had truly formidable powers. None of them would have dared to harbor such thoughts otherwise.
Yet, that rabbit before them saw those people as ‘puny’.
“So the Lu Clan really is keeping a bunch of monsters among them, eh?” Some of them recalled people having attempted to invade the clan before, and all of those invaders were taken out by the clan.
That was when everyone realized just how fearsome the Lu Clan truly was; they were anything but pushovers.
Some of the Heavenly Palace harbored their own ambitions, wanting to seize command of the Heavenly Palace now that Lu Xuan was dead, knocking over all 12 of the military governors from their pedestals.
However, it was only then that everyone realized that those thoughts were only delusions.
Even when Lu Xuan was taken out of the picture, the Lu Clan was still practically filled with a bunch of monsters.
The rabbit smirked and returned to its previous form of a harmless little rabbit before scurrying to Liu Wanrong’s side.
Liu Wanrong nodded satisfactorily and said, “From here on out, I shall be in charge of the Heavenly Palace until my son’s return. Anyone else has anything to say about that?”
“Your wish is my command, my lady!” The crowd clamored to make their loyalties heard.
She nodded satisfactorily and fixed her gaze far away with a tinge of concern.
“When will you come back, son? I shall protect everything that is yours before you return. No one shall take anything away from you!”
