At the entrance of the Bailan Alliance, the guards were surprised when they saw Feng Yunsheng. They greeted her with their hands clasped before their chest. “Greetings, Your Highness.”
Feng Yunsheng held her chin up high and entered without even looking at them.
“It has almost been a year, Her Highness is finally back.”
“I feel like there’s something different about Her Highness. She’s all high and mighty, and she looks down on us now.”
The guards were baffled by her behavior, as she would normally have at least acknowledged them in the past. She would never walk around with her chin up like an arrogant peacock, trying to make her existence known.
Shui Jue was stationed outside the study and was surprised to see Feng Yunsheng. “Your Highness, you are back?”
She could only return after being at the Shang Institution for a year. But it had only been nine months, and she already came back?
Feng Yunsheng glanced at him briefly. “Is Mobai inside?”
“Yes, His Highness is in the study.” Shui Jue answered with some hesitation. He thought she felt rather cold and distant.
Without looking at him again, Feng Yunsheng went into the study and saw Si Mobai writing at his desk. She smiled and called out to him softly and tenderly, “Mobai.”
Although she looked very similar to Feng Tianlan, her original voice was different. So, for this to be successful, she had been imitating and practicing to sound like Feng Tianlan. At this point, her voice was almost like Feng Tianlan’s voice.
Hearing his name, Si Mobai looked towards the source. He was surprised at first, but his expression turned cold immediately. Who’s this person, impersonating Lan’er and barging into his study like that?
Seeing that he didn’t have any other reactions, Feng Yunsheng thought that her impersonation was good enough to deceive even Si Mobai. She smiled as she walked towards him. With dissatisfaction in her tone, she said, “Mobai, aren’t you happy that I am back?”
Si Mobai narrowed his eyes and looked at her coldly. “You are Lan’er?”
“Who else would I be? Don’t tell me that you were with another woman while I was away?”
Feng Yunsheng moved forward to get close to him but a strong spiritual force was cast straight at her just as she was three steps away from him. She flipped away instinctively, avoiding it. However, the spiritual force came one wave after another without any pause.
Feng Yunsheng avoided a few waves of the spiritual force but still ended up taking a hit right in the chest when she couldn’t keep up. She flew right out of the door and fell heavily on the ground in the courtyard.
Shui Jue was shocked to see Feng Yunsheng flying out of the door. He looked at Si Mobai in shock, “What’s wrong with Her Highness? Why did you throw her out like that?”
Graceful and majestic like a king, he slowly walked out of the study. He stood with his hands behind his back and looked down at Feng Yunsheng. When his eyes fell upon the jade hairpin in her hair, his chest tightened and he wondered if he had really hurt Lan’er.
He removed the jade hairpin from her hair and took a closer look at it. He heaved a sigh of relief when he realized it wasn’t the one he gave to Lan’er.
“Mobai, what did I do wrong? Why are you doing this to me? I was only away for a while and you’ve already fallen in love with someone else? Why do you want to kill me?” Feng Yunsheng looked at Si Mobai angrily with an expression full of grievance as if looking at a heartless man.
She didn’t believe that Si Mobai would find out that she was not Feng Tianlan because other than her voice and actions, she even smelled like Feng Tianlan. All these things should be enough to fool him.
“Don’t think you can fool me just by making yourself look like Lan’er.” Si Mobai’s eyes were cold. He raised his hands and directed his ultimate move at her.
