Chu Feng was tired as he walked alone through the spatial tear. He had searched without rest for many a day and found some vague clues. However, he still hadn’t discovered the final door of life.
The world here was pitch black, especially within the odd spatial tear. One could hardly see his fingers in front of him. If it weren’t for Chu Feng using his Fiery Eyes, he probably wouldn’t be able to see clearly. Even the spiritual senses were blocked.
“I’ve learned some things.”
Suddenly, Chu Feng felt a rush of excitement. He felt that this spatial tear wasn’t stable. There were fluctuations here that might perhaps connect to the outside world.
The most direct proof was the skeletons here. They weren’t covered in the ashes of the reincarnation flame. This went to show that this wasn’t the true space of the purgatory.
This place was likely a tear or break in space which connected to the outside world.
After all, he had traced the clues left behind by the ancients. There were surely many people who had tried to escape back in the years.
This surely wasn’t the effort of a single person, but the collective work of many experts throughout each generation.
Along the way, he discovered some other things. Some ancients had the ability to tear space apart, but they left some spiritual seals to tell the others that this place was different from the others. It was an extremely difficult process because brute force would attract the reincarnation flames to this area.
“This must be the corpse of a western silver dragon.”
Along the way, Chu Feng found yet another massive entity. It bore a divine aura and had surpassed the level of a golden arhat. Its body wouldn’t decay even after death and its scales were still shining brightly.
This creature would likely be called a god on earth!
“Mm, is it here?!”
Chu Feng revealed an astonished expression as he sensed the wind. This place was somewhat different. There was a passage here where a draft was coming through.
He was delighted. A clear sign had appeared in the spatial tear that a giant beast had lived here before. It was somewhat abnormal.
He walked along the spatial tear and eventually entered an area of complex geography. The place was completely dark as all light had been devoured.
So much so that, he could occasionally see the corpses of super entities like the golden crow. But even these remains couldn’t glow in here. It was as though they were situated within a black hole.
The more the situation was so, the more Chu Feng was filled with anticipation. That was because he could feel an aura of freshness in the air. This filled his heart with excitement—was he really about to escape this place?
If this place was connected to the outside world, then it would be a heaven-defying matter. Just how did the ancients manage to do this?
The darker it became, Chu Feng felt the more of his energy was seeping outward. Afterward, the breeze also grew stagnant and the world once again fell into darkness and silence.
Then, Chu Feng entered a man-made gap between a stone wall and walked a great distance. It was as though he were on a dark path leading to hell—the environs were extremely sinister and cold.
The landscape plunged downward and the sensation of being within the spatial gap disappeared. He walked down into the depths where coldness, darkness, and silence were the eternal theme. It made one lose track of the time.
At first, Chu Feng could hear his own footsteps in this place but soon he could only hear his own heartbeat. In the end, he could hear his own blood flowing.
Everything was because this place was too silent, so silent that one could easily hear the drop of a needle and feel everything going on in the body.
All of a sudden, a blob of green flames appeared before Chu Feng. It was so sudden that he hardly had time to react, nearly crashing into it.
He almost tossed out the Violet Heavenly Thunder Crystal in his hands while retreating at the same time. He retained his calm and readied himself to battle at a moment’s notice.
After a careful look, he found that it was a hand bone. It was devoid of flesh and blood, while the bone was full of cracks. Its long nails were burning with a green light as it hovered in the air.
What situation was this? A segment of hand without any magical fluctuations was actually suspended in the air. Chu Feng revealed an odd expression and became cautious.
He circled around the flaming skeletal hand, avoiding the green flames as he moved forward. There, he found a level path that had been smoothed out by someone. There were even stone steps there.
This filled him with excitement because he knew he had arrived at the key location.
However, on this path, he saw even more bones. There were giant skullbones and spines belonging to unknown creatures suspended in the air, all of them burning with green ghost flames.
This definitely wasn’t a self-combustion of phosphorous, unlike the will-o-the-wisps of the earth.
Chu Feng was frightened. This place made him feel
He arrived in a stone room. There were no bones here but there was a ghost flame here arising from the sinister looking head floating in the air, preserved from the neck-up. It was as big as a millstone and drenched in blood. This was the skull of fierce beast, one Chu Feng had never seen before. Its head was covered in green scales but the gaps were filled with needle-like green hairs. He couldn’t tell what species it was, but its death was fairly gruesome.
Its eyes were wide open as though it had encountered great terror before its death. One would suspect whether it had died from fright. Its pupils were dilated and its expression was frozen in that last moment before its death. The scene was incomparably frightening.
Chu Feng trembled in fear and evaded this floating head. Just how had it died? What this place filled with other dangers?
Afterward, he saw a person at the corner of the room. His entire body was shriveled up like firewood and resembled a living skeleton. He sat there leaning on a corner of the wall with his sunken eyes wide open and his expression filled with trepidation. It seemed as if he had backed away in fear and died of… fear!
This place was too eerie and there was no telling what dangers it was filled with.
Afterward, Chu Feng found some words upon the wall, carved by the man who had backed away toward the wall. Chu Feng focused his gaze and began studying it in detail.
He had learned for a period of time through the photon computer. Although he still wasn’t too proficient with the common language of the starry skies, he was still able to make out the meaning in general.
“Who would’ve thought almighty beings like us we would be so miserable after falling into this space. Even Zhao Qiankun couldn’t hold out and was crushed into powder once the flames of reincarnation arose. We evaded the vortex area and managed to escape to this place.”
The record was simple and didn’t even mention his own identity or how he had drifted here.
“This old man’s domain attainments are all-knowing. How can I be resigned after falling into this place? I followed the path of the predecessors with a couple of friends and decided to lay down a heavenly domain to escape this place.”
The words recorded their determination and, moreover, mentioned that this land was discovered by people who had come before them. It was dug out earlier and contained domains that were even more ancient and primitive, poised to tear the void apart.
At the same time, there were warnings from ancient people telling of the evils of this place and how easy it was to die here. Moreover, the more powerful one was, the faster he would die.
“We were lucky enough to enjoy the fruits of someone else’s labor. Add to that the presence of a spatial expert like the Void Mouse, we finally bore through this place and opened up a path to life. However, terror arrived at that point…
Chu Feng felt his hair stand on end after reading to this point and a true chill ran down his spine. He suddenly turned around, but there was no one there.
But he was greatly suspicious. He lowered his head once again and observed the words.
“We used domains to bore into a mine shaft. It was boundlessly dark, likely a small path in the mines that the ancients never reached in the past. No one knew which era it was from. We were beside ourselves with excitement and thought we had escaped, but this dark pit also belongs to this space. We were still in the spatial tear. We didn’t know what age we were in, so much so that we had no idea which era the ancients were from or what they were digging…”
Finally, the group of big shots like the domain giant and Void Rat ignored this unfathomable mine and kept tunneling toward their designated place.
“Finally, we succeeded. We went along a small path and bore through the world’s borders. We could see the scenery of the world outside. This place… should be the planet ranked eleven in the cosmos because we found a tablet not far off in the outside world describing it as such. We had finally escaped! We earned the right to be recorded in the annals of history as the people who had escaped the land of reincarnation!”
Afterward, the handwriting on the ground grew erratic as the writer’s hand trembled.
“Calamity appeared and the true terror arrived…”
The words became jumbled up here as the writer grew too scared.
“Half of the Void Rat’s head is gone. He died bloody and mysterious death! The sinister aura spread through every inch of this space, causing one’s hair to stand on end and one’s scalp to go numb…”
Chu Feng felt an evil aura at the same time that he read these words. He felt cold from head to toe as though he was the one experiencing everything.
He quickly turned back with the stone box in his hand. This place was too terrifying!
But he saw nothing. There was no one behind him. But why did he feel as though something had touched his back?”
At this moment, the stone box in his hands began to glow with a faint light, slightly calming his heart.
“Old friend Yuan Zhen exploded on the spot and split into many pieces. No one knew why but his flesh seemed to be absorbed by something in the blink of an eye, leaving only his white bones. However, there was still flesh and blood on his head. Moreover, the bones and head were burning with green light…”
Reading up to this point, Chu Feng felt something wasn’t quite right. The chill behind his back grew even more intense.
“The others have all died ineffably. It looked as though they had seen something terrifying before their death. This kind of thing happening in his dark mine is too terrifying…”
Chu Feng felt restless. What kind of place had he come to?
“Only Dao Friend Mo Kong managed to escape, but he grew crazy after escaping into the outside world. He scraped off all the flesh on his body and ran away crying in terror. I don’t know if he survived or not, but I don’t feel too optimistic about his fate. We were all great powerhouses but in the end… not good, there’s movement in that sealed tunnel. Something is coming out! Is it my turn now? This is the end, I’m… going to die, it’s coming…”
The record ended abruptly!
Chu Feng felt chilled all over. Just what had they encountered? They had clearly opened up a passage through the void, but they were all wiped out in the end.
Chu Feng discovered that the person who had backed into a corner and left these words was looking in the direction of Chu Feng’s back. This caused him to tremble.
This time, he turned back toward the place and observed carefully. There was a giant rock there, seemingly sealing off a path.
One could see that the stone was joined tightly and wasn’t pushed open. There shouldn’t have been any creature coming through it.
But why did this domain researcher big-shot say something was coming and that he was about to die? He did die in the end, and did so in terror!
Just what did he see at the last moment?
Chu Feng stared at the stone and saw that there was blood upon it. It hadn’t dried even to this day, standing proof of the terrifying experiences here.
“There’s a path beyond here connecting to the outside world and it leads to earth!” Chu Feng’s eyes lit up in excitement.
But so many people had died. This place was too peculiar and terrifying. What should he do? Should he make this attempt?
“Will bad things still happen again after so many years? The passage of time should’ve erased everything. Perhaps this place is no longer as eerie.”
Chu Feng comforted himself thus and arrived before the giant rock. After all, there was one person who had escaped. Even though he went mad, he still managed to leave the land of reincarnation.
“I can’t resist anymore. Over a month has passed. I wonder how Yellow Ox, Ol’ Blackie, and Ouyang Feng are doing? How are my parents doing? Are the outer realm people targeting them?!”
After thinking about these things, Chu Feng’s heart began to burn with worry. He wanted nothing more than to kill his way out.
