Chapter 389: The True Dragon’s Lair
Translator: Alsey Editor: Chrissy
The Fiery Eyes was known as one of the most powerful eye abilities. It was one of the top abilities even across the whole cosmos.
That was because very few life forms were able to activate this eye ability even in the past, to say nothing of the present. It would be difficult to pick out a couple of them even in the whole star system.
Chu Feng’s eyes glowed radiantly as he focused his gaze on the seemingly dilapidated ancient grounds. He immediately discovered everything and was naturally astonished.
This true dragon’s lair was even more extraordinary than he had expected.
There were mottled bronze walls engraved with the vestiges of the vicissitudes. These broken walls had been covered in dust for countless years. They were now collapsed despite having been built from divine materials.
This was a ruins—it probably used to be a magnificent and flourishing place back in the day. It was indeed the residence of the underwater dragon race just as described by ancient myths and records.
But there was a certain difference. It wasn’t a crystalline dragon palace but was, instead, like a city suffused with a divine aura.
A thick bronze pillar reached into the sky as if it were supporting it up. And that was just a flagpole with which to fly the dragon race’s war banner. One could see that there was another cloth hanging upon it.
Chu Feng was astonished. This item was not simple at all and could even be said that it was extraordinary. That tattered flag represented the dragon race’s past glory.
It was probably a weapon!
There was a lot of genuine thunderstruck wood. They were really piled together to build this dragon’s lair within the city ruins.
The ruined city was constructed around the mountainside with a dark cave halfway up the mountain. There were even greater piles of thunderstruck wood at that place forming a part of the dragon’s lair.
Apparently, the city was an important part of the dragon race in the past. Many different people lived here and it was heavily guarded. And this cave was the actual true dragon’s lair.
Chu Feng was astonished because it was vastly different from what he had imagined. It was also different from what was recorded in the legends. The so-called dragon race was said to have lived in beautiful dragon palaces, which was discrepant from the scene before him.
This city, with its jade tiles and metallic bricks, was indeed astonishing and akin to a residence of the gods. But the true dragon seemed to prefer the ancient cave built of thunderstruck wood.
There were a mountain and a dragon cave within the city. This was the true scenery of the space under the sea eye of the Eastern Sea.
Later on, Chu Feng’s eyes erupted with golden rays as he swept the deathly still space with his Golden Eyes. An area dozens of kilometers in radius entered his eyes—it felt as if nothing could hide from him.
They were indeed within the sea eye and this space several dozens of kilometers in radius was isolated from the surrounding water like a luminous divine ground.
However, due to the presence of the domains, ordinary people couldn’t see the water above them. They could only see this patch of reddish brown earth.
At the same time, Chu Feng noticed something different about the geography here. It could be considered an unfathomable land of fortune.
At least, with his current attainments in the field of domains, he couldn’t pry into the ultimate secrets of this place.
With his Fiery Eyes, he was able to see that the ruins were surging with energy particles. They appeared like pristine white mist, but were, in fact, made up of various materials that were beneficial to the body.
Generally speaking, this was a kind of energy.
If an ordinary person were to see this, they would say this was immortal qi.
Chu Feng was enlightened. This so-called immortal qi was actually made up of certain rare energy particles. People were able to see it after they seeped out and evaporated. They felt that it was mysterious and thus named it as such. In addition to a plethora of benefits, it would indeed feel extremely comfortable to be nourished by such energy.
“How is it?!” the black yak asked.
Chu Feng replied, “En, this place is indeed extraordinary. Utilized well, it can produce miraculous effects. I feel this dragon cave can be considered an immortal ground, but we might not be able to enter at this point.”
He wasn’t exaggerating. The geography of that place was indeed astonishing and he had immediately discovered its extraordinary aspects. Anyone living normally within these ruins would be able to live for many years.
That was because the energy here was special and extremely beneficial to the body.
So much so that he suspected that a corpse buried here might not rot and even give birth to some spirituality.
Chu Feng’s heart was itching because he really wanted to stuff the three seeds he had obtained from Mount Kunlun into the cave and see if he could get them to sprout.
At the very least he was certain that the already activated seed was capable of growing here, but he wasn’t sure how the second and third seed would fare.
“Difficult. It’s too difficult. This place is a restricted area laid down by a domain grandmaster and was probably the resident of saints in the past. It’s impossible for us to go any deeper.” Chu Feng sighed while shaking his head.
“There were definitely saints here. The true dragon of the past had definitely reached such a level.” Yellow Ox nodded.
Everyone was silent after hearing this and were incomparably regretful. This place was so heaven-defying that they couldn’t enter.
“Even if we can’t enter the dragon cave, don’t we have any way to enter the surrounding ruins?” The Manchurian Tiger refused to give up.
“Let me try,” said Chu Feng. He didn’t have much confidence. A place where a true dragon lived in the past was simply too high-leveled for him. That was a creature possessing one of the most ancient bloodlines.
This area had once been arranged by a domain grandmaster. Even though most of the domains had been destroyed in the later wars, it was still very difficult for outsiders to approach.
Currently, Chu Feng was a long ways from being at the level of a grandmaster.
“Can you see treasured trees in the ruins?” Asked the Dragoness. She tried hard to calm herself down but the anxiousness and anticipation were evident in her eyes.
That was because she suspected that there might be dragonification fruits and peerless treasured trees in the true dragon’s lair!
“I don’t see any trees.” Chu Feng shook his head. The ruins were too dilapidated. Even the bronze walls and jade tiles were all broken. How could there be any saint trees?
Even if there was such a tree, he reckoned it would be in that ancient cave. That place seemed to be flourishing with vitality with energy particles gushing outwards in the form of prismatic mists.
The Dragoness was disappointed.
“But there are some grasses in the ruins, especially near the cave. There’s a large patch of it near the entrance of the cave,” said Chu Feng. It was just that he felt that the grass wasn’t particularly special. They were simple and dark red in color without any brilliant radiance.
One had to know that the mutant vegetations were all lustrous and brilliant.
“Ah, that’s Dragon Blood grass!” The Dragoness cried out in astonishment.
Yellow Ox was also visibly moved because he knew this type of grass. It was considered good material for evolved beings—it was capable of improving one’s constitution and directing one’s growth towards a stronger direction.
“The Eight-Claw King rose to his current power after taking the risk to charge into a true dragon lair and later successfully escaping with a Dragon Blood Grass.”
In truth, Chu Feng and the others had also heard of it. After the great snow melted, some experts from the marine had risen to power after finding some Dragon Blood Grass.
At that time, there was someone who had obtained the legendary Holy Grail in the West and evolved rapidly. Back then, the world was abuzz with such news.
Yellow Ox said, “It’s said that the Dragon Blood Grass was born of normal grass when it became stained with true dragon blood. After gaining spirituality, it became an astonishing and valuable medicine for evolution.
But Yellow Ox explained that it was just a legend. A more widely accepted theory was that such grass grew in the vicinity of dragon lairs and was nourished by the remnant energy particles from the dragon. Hence its extraordinary effects.
Additionally, Yellow Ox gave an example—although the Dragon Blood Grass was extraordinary, it couldn’t be considered a top-grade item compared to other products of a dragon’s lair.
He said, “Normally, there will be Reverse Scale Flowers within the dragon’s lair or even Dragon Embryo Trees. Those are even more frightening and contain materials that were true fortunes. Once found, it’ll make the eyes of all the great sages in the starry skies go red with envy.”
“Let’s go and rob them!” Ouyang Feng the toad cried out. Its eyes were bulging with drool flowing out as it stared at the dragon cave amidst the ruins.
At almost the same time the problem-lady also cried out delightfully, “Charge charge charge!”
The others all rolled their eyes. Did they really think they could get to the dragon’s lair? People at their level couldn’t even hope to approach the place even though the original owner had long since moved away.
“Sigh. Now I know where the Eight Clawed King dug up that dragon grass. It must’ve been outside the ruins. He’s truly lucky!” Chu Feng sighed.
He had used the Fiery Eyes to observe the lay of the land and discovered traces of digging. That place likely had a Dragon Blood Grass growing there at one point.
That was because discovered some withered grasses that had been broken accidentally.
The Eight Clawed King didn’t have the Fiery Eyes and thus couldn’t see through the mysteries of this place, but he was still able to obtain things while rushing in blindly. It could only be said that his luck was truly good.
Chu Feng saw some more Dragon Blood Grass amidst the ruins, but he felt that it would be difficult for them to dig out.
“I’ll go and try!” Chu Feng wasn’t satisfied that he would have to go back empty-handed after arriving here. So he could only give it a try.
This couldn’t be blamed on his lack of knowledge regarding domains. This place was simply too heaven-defying. Being the home of a saint, its level was simply too high and not quite suitable for them to approach.
“You guys wait here!” Chu Feng didn’t want them to take this risk.
“Handsome Big Brother Chu Feng, I’ll follow you whether you advance or retreat!” The problem lady said thus with a charming and sweet demeanor. She made eyes at Chu Feng with great allure.
She was indeed outrageous beautiful. Although she was young, she was already over 170 centimeters tall. She was excessively mature for her age and her figure was extremely alluring.
Chu Feng knocked her on the head and said, “Stop making eyes at me!”
He understood after a period of contact that this girl wasn’t a brainless star chaser. She was extremely intelligent and was clearly approaching him in order to mix her way into this land of fortunes.
“Ouchie! Don’t knock anymore. It’s painful!” The problem lady covered her pristine white forehead and cried loudly.
“Let’s go together. The black yak was worried to let Chu Feng go alone.
The Dragoness also spoke. “I agree. We can’t let you take this risk alone. It was I who invited you so I’ll feel guilty if an accident occurs.”
The toad raised his chin and said, “This is my family’s land. I can definitely enter. I’m a dragon and this is a typical case of a true dragon returning to its lair.”
“I’ve only heard of a tadpole looking for its mother. I’ve never heard of a tadpole recognizing random people as relatives,” The black yak said unceremoniously.
“Go to hell, you milkless cow!” Ouyang Feng the toad cried. The two nearly began to fight.
In the end, they advanced together and approached the ruins. They didn’t encounter any dangerous situations with Chu Feng unraveling the domains along the way.
They successfully arrived at the place where the Eight Claw King had arrived in the past. Chu Feng reached out and shot out some magnetic stones to modify the lay of the land. Immediately, the true scenery appeared before them.
“Ah, there really is a ruins here. How vast, how magnificent!”
The others were now able to see the remains of the divine city. This place was once the residence of the dragon race and there used to be many powerful evolved beings here during ancient times.
Chu Feng walked forwards and picked up the broken Dragon Blood Grass and the dug up its shriveled roots.
“What a pity. Only a small part of its medicinal effects remain. The loss is too great,” Yellow Ox sighed. This was a grass of great spirituality that could’ve helped them evolve.
“No matter. It can still be refined into medicine,” said Chu Feng. He had to bring away a Thunderstruck Wood at all costs and there just happened to be one not so far away.
If he was truly able to obtain a thunderstruck wood, then he would return to the Revered Eight Trigrams Furnace on Mount Zhijin to evolve once again.
