Qi Lei sat in the car and lit a cigarette while waiting for the traffic light to turn green.
For some reason, he currently felt a detached calmness. It was a calm that made him feel that he could face all of this with frankness and that he could peacefully consider Qi Feng’s current situation.
He recalled the scene of when he had rushed Wang Qin to the hospital with blood all over him, when he had been forced to leave Qi Kai, and then those near-death experiences with Yang Sheng when they had been kidnapped and tried to escape, as well as the scene of Qi Qiming lying in a pool of blood…
He could not deny that all of these misfortunes or sins were started by Qi Feng. They all originated from him!
Such a sinful person should not be pitied…
But why was it that right now, he started to feel sad for him?!
If he could choose to let him have Qi Kai so that all of these did not happen, Qi Lei would be willing. In fact, he had always been willing.
Only common people would never understand this, and it was only at such moments that one would reflect upon oneself with no way of remedying it, none at all!
The cigarette between his fingers was half-burnt before the car in front slowly started up. He gathered his thoughts quickly and put out the cigarette that he only took two drags from. He stepped on the accelerator and continued to drive ahead.
When he reached Qi Kai Group, the sun was beginning to set in the west. The police had yet to reach, but they should be over quite soon because he already heard the sirens from behind. There were many vehicles, not just one or two.
Qi Lei drove to the entrance Qi Kai Group and got down from the car unhurriedly. He tossed his keys to the guard, and before the latter could greet him he had already walked inside.
Qi Kai’s employees were all rushing to go home by now, and half the employees had finished work. When Qi Lei went over, he bumped into a few employees going home, and they respectfully greeted him.
The contents of the shareholders’ meeting were no secret to Qi Kai internally. Qi Lei was now technically their acting CEO. Of course, the prerequisite would be that Qi Lei himself had to be willing to take on the burden.
In truth though, since the shareholders’ meeting, they never saw Qi Lei show his face at Qi Kai Group as if their new acting CEO might not be willing to take over Qi Kai. They heard that he was doing very well with Tai Yu Corporation!
Of course, Qi Lei had no mood to greet them. He just nodded indifferently and walked past them.
At this moment in Qi Kai Corporation, the police car sirens were heard downstairs. The sharp sound of the sirens tore through the silence of the sunset. On this considerably calm evening, more than ten police cars drove into the Qi Kai Group plaza one after another.
The cars stopped very quickly, and with Captain Wang leading the group of skilled policemen, they got down from the vehicles. The SWAT team and even snipers were called over, and it was a rather dramatic scene…
They swiftly rushed into Qi Kai Group and stood guard at all the entrances, shocking the employees who were finishing work and leaving.
Captain Wang and the rest had just positioned themselves. Yang Sheng, who followed Qi Lei over, rushed in too. When he saw all the police in place, he felt anxious, so he quickly went over and said worriedly while barely catching his breath, “Captain Wang! Captain Wang! Save our Master Qi! Tell everyone not to be rash. Our Master Qi is inside. He’s in Qi Feng’s office! You must guarantee his safety! You must! Please!”
His words made Captain Wang frown immediately!
“What happened? I just received news that it was only Qi Feng alone in his office! When did Qi Lei show up?” Captain Wang’s tone was filled with gravity.
“Earlier, Qi Feng called our Master Qi and told him to come over. I didn’t expect Master Qi to really come, and Qi Feng has a gun! He just wouldn’t listen, so…” Yang Sheng explained while being deeply worried.
“Madness!”
When Yang Sheng finished, Captain Wang immediately shouted in exasperation with a heavy expression on his face. He quickly picked up his walkie-talkie and said anxiously, “Everyone, pay attention. Everyone, pay attention. Qi Feng isn’t alone in his office. Qi Lei is there too. Please be careful and do as I order. Don’t make him angry and hurt the hostage. Please acknowledge if you heard me. Please acknowledge if you heard me!”
“Got it!”
“Got it!”
“Understood!”
All the policemen responded before Captain Wang eased a little, then he looked up at the skyscraping Qi Kai Group building. After a while, he walked in!
“I want to go in to take a look too! Captain Wang, let me in! I’m worried about our Master Qi!” Yang Sheng rushed in without a care and followed right behind Captain Wang…
…
The corridor was very quiet. Qi Lei walked unhurriedly. In the empty walkway, you could hear his cold footsteps echoing.
This corridor usually felt quite short, but now it seemed endless, making Qi Lei feel as if he had walked a very, very long while before he reached Qi Feng’s office.
The office door was open. When Qi Lei stood at the entrance, he could already smell the faint fragrance of the hibiscus from afar. He heard that Qi Feng liked this smell, and apparently Qi Feng’s mother had also liked this flower.
Qi Lei stopped his steps and stood at the door for quite a while before he entered.
What greeted his sight was that empty office desk. He looked around and then saw the curtains that swayed continuously by the window, but Qi Feng was nowhere in sight…
Creak!
At this moment, there was the sound of a door opening. Qi Lei immediately looked to the sound with vigilance and saw that the door to the lounge area was open. Qi Feng walked out from inside dressed in a suit while his dripping hand held a transparent heat-preserving cup. Inside it was some chrysanthemum tea…
“You really did come.”
His profound gaze looked at Qi Lei as he took a towel from the side to wipe his hands. Then, he walked over to his desk. He put down the tea in hand, lowered his gaze, and did not look at Qi Lei while he calmly tidied the documents on his desk. He said plainly, “Actually, I guessed that you’d come anyway.”
