The Mortal Gates were also an important aspect in becoming a strong warrior. If the Energy Center was a generator, then the Mortal Gates were the electrical appliances. The better the appliances were, the more efficient they will get.
As the Mortal Gates became stronger, their energy output increased significantly, thus enhancing the warrior’s attack power.
Most warriors that have achieved feats such as defeating warriors at a higher level used rare herbs to enhance their bodies, making their Mortal Gates stronger than other people’s.
Ye Mo had intended on using all five of the Goddess’s Tears to enhance his Mortal Gates, allowing them to be able to withstand more Dragon Energies.
Ye Mo locked himself in his room and was about to begin the procedure when Ling’er jumped out from her charm and stopped him.
“You big idiot!” Ling’er shouted. “You’re going to destroy your Mortal Gates if you use them directly.”
“Then what should I do?” Ye Mo asked.
“These tears are the essence of the Goddess Lake. There are only a couple of tears that are produced each year,” Ling’er explained. “The energy is too concentrated. You should be able to take it directly if you’re a True Energy Realm warrior, but you’re not. You’ll have to mix them with another ingredient to make use of their full potential and not harm yourself in the process.”
If Ye Mo were to take those tears directly, the extremely dense energy in those tears would make his Mortal Gates explode.
A warrior losing their Mortal Gates was worse than being seriously injured. Injuries could be healed, but losing their Mortal Gates would mean the end of their warrior life.
“What ingredient?”
“The Essence of the Forest.”
“The Essence of the Forest?” Ye Mo shouted as he almost fell from his bed.
The Essence of the Forest was the essence of all plants. It would be rare to even find one in a huge forest. It was a herb that was brimming with life force.
“Since the Essence of the Forest has a huge amount of life force in them, using them with the Goddess’s Tear should be able to enhance your Mortal Gates to another level,” Ling’er explained.
“To another level?”
“Even Mortal Gates have levels,” Ling’er said as she sat down and hugged her arms. “But the Mortal Gates of most people would never be categorized. Only by enhancing their Mortal Gates pass the normal level can they start seeing the difference. The people outside our zone? Those jaw-breaking powers? That was because they were born better than you as their Mortal Gates are stronger than normal people’s. That’s why the same martial technique is stronger when they use it.”
“I see! That’s why the Barbarians are stronger than us!” Ye Mo exclaimed. “It’s not that they have stronger powers than us but because their Mortal Gates are stronger than ours!”
“That’s right.”
“Then, how is the Mortal Gate categorized?”
“The first three levels are Level One Focus, Level Two Focus, and Level Three Focus,” Ling’er said. “Going past the Level Three Focus is when you’ll become really strong, and that’s when you’ll learn Mortal Gate Techniques.”
“What are Mortal Gate Techniques?” Ye Mo asked as he swallowed. It was his first time hearing those terms; he might even be the first in all of Tianwu Kingdom to hear them.
“It’s still too early for you to learn about that,” Ling’er said. “You should focus on finding the Essence of the Forest first.”
Ye Mo nodded but did not hurry to the trade market.
The Essence of the Forest was a rare ingredient that had a high price point. He was almost out of Stabilizing Pills. The only things that he had left were two Heavenly Frost Charm, the Rank Two Ice Core from the Jade Siren, and a few rare Rank One Cores.
“I’ll make a few Heavenly Frost Charms and sell them. It should fetch enough money to buy the ingredient I need.”
He quickly took out the Rank Two Ice Core and five blank charms.
He used almost half of the day drawing the charms. As he finished, five higher-grade Heavenly Frost Charms were placed on the table. Each of them had cost him at least 70 Dragon Energies to make. The last one that he made was even stronger, so strong that it had cost a total of 90 Dragon Energies to withstand the mind attack.
Even Ling’er marveled at the last Heavenly Frost Charm. It was the highest grade that anyone could ever make.
Ye Mo kept the last one to himself and brought the other four to the trade market.
The crowd in the Women’s City trade market was larger than the Hundred Treasure Pavillion. Most of the stalls were owned by the Qi clan.
Eyes began to lock on Ye Mo as soon as he entered the market. It was natural as he was the only man there.
Ye Mo scanned the market and found a stall that was selling charms and walked towards it.
“I have four Heavenly Frost Charm in my hands. Are you interested in buying them?” Ye Mo asked as he took them out. The charms were enveloped in a hint of cold mist.
The old woman who was tending the stall happened to be a Charm Master herself and could instantly tell the charms in Ye Mo’s hands were different. She could not even hide her shocked expression when she saw Ye Mo’s face.
“What a strong aura these charms are giving out,” the old woman said. “The Charm Master who created these must be something else.”
“10,000 Stabilizing Pills a piece. How about it?”
“I’m old, not dumb. These charms could fetch a higher price than that.”
“Well, truth to be told, I’m here to buy an Essence of the Forest,” Ye Mo confessed. “I saw one over at the other stall, and it was priced 40,000 Stabilizing Pills.”
“I see. But I still won’t take you for granted. Three charms for 40,000 Stabilizing Pills.”
“Deal!” Ye Mo agreed. “I hope you won’t tell anyone I was the one who sold you these charms. I don’t want to invite any unwanted trouble.”
“Don’t worry. I’ve never given out my clients’ information before.” The old woman smiled as she handed Ye Mo a bag of pills.
“Thank you!” Ye Mo left the charm stall and went to buy the Essence of the Forest.
The herb was ugly and looked like a dry stick, but Ye Mo could feel an intense life force coming from it.
Ye Mo took the herb and went back to his room with a huge smile on his face.
