”Princess, daddy keeps to his word, see…” Fu Hua said as he took a small bite and returned the remaining to her.
Jia Li added from the side, “Jasmine see, Daddy only took a small bite as he said. Learn to trust daddy.”
The little girl nodded in understanding before munching away.
”Here is your reward for being a giver,” Jia Li said as she took out another slice from her plate and gave it to her.
Jasmine was elated and thanked her mother. Now, she didn’t regret allowing her father to take a bite from her apple slice.
Jia Li also gave Fu Hua a few slices so he could enjoy with them as well.
”Mummy, my teacher told us to draw some objects, could you help me with some of them?” Jasmine asked. She remembered the assignment that was given to her and asked for help.
Jia Li replied with a smile, “Can you ask Daddy for help? Mummy is going to be very busy after taking a break.”
”Daddy has helped me with some of them, but I need you to finish the other ones. I want to see who draws better.” Jasmine said as she clapped her hands.
The little girl knew that her parents could draw, as she has seen them sketching a lot of times, and their sketches looked beautiful. Now, she wanted to see who was more good at it.
Jasmine knew what competition was, because she has been put to test in her school, and now, she wanted her parents to join the one she was hosting.
Jia Li exchanged glances with Fu Hua before Fu Hua tried to convince their daughter.
”Princess don’t be stubborn. Your mummy has lots of dresses to sketch. Maybe you can watch her do that, and later, I will help you finish up your assignment”
”Okay, Daddy!” Jasmine said with a brilliant smile. Something else had snatched her attention. She found it fun, and interesting to watch her mother sketch beautiful dresses, and she wanted to do so now.
After taking a few more minutes break, Jia Li went to the workroom arranged specifically for her and Fu Hua to work on her sketches.
Her desk looked very much untidy, so she cleaned it up with the help of the little girl who was eager to help out.
In between watching her mother sketch, her father brought her homework over and asked her to come to watch him draw the other objects, so she can learn to replicate them in her textbook.
Jasmine was very obedient. Not only because of her assignment, but at the reminder that dinner will be starting soon, and after it, it would be bedtime.
Fu Hua had told her that she had to get her assignment done that day or else, she wouldn’t get the chance to do it in the morning, and then, she would be punished in school by her teachers.
It’s not like their teachers would hit them or give them a heavy punishment, little tasks can be carried out by them which was easy for their age.
When it was time for dinner, the entire family members gathered in the dining room and took their respective seats.
And it was before they began to eat that Meixu announced her engagement with Shi Qiao and marriage plans.
Meixu was quite different from FangSu, or you could say that she has matured with time.
Meixu didn’t show off her ring as FangSu did. She spoke calmly about her engagement while her hands rested on her thighs.
It was FangSu who was sitting next to her that caught sight of the ring and couldn’t help trying to pull her hand, but Meixu pushed her hands away.
”Why don’t you want me to see your ring?” FangSu asked as she retracted her hands.
”Why? So you can eat it?” Meixu asked with a calm gaze on her.
FangSu looked away and said in a low tone, “You are so stingy.”
Fu ChuHua who didn’t have any obvious happiness on her face asked, “Must your wedding be in May? Why are you rushing it? Are you pregnant?”
Meixu was really annoyed with the question her mother asked, and she couldn’t help but fire back. “Whether I’m pregnant or not, should you ask that question right here? I know you don’t like Shi Qiao that much, but there is nothing you can do about it.”
Meixu even wanted to add, that if she wanted any particular character or trait in any other man she wanted her to marry, then she could marry him herself since she wanted a man to her taste. But because of the elders there, she held back her tongue.
Besides, her grandfather would not spare her if she spoke that way.
”ChuHua, you are not the one getting married so why are bothered? Meixu has chosen the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with, so your opinion is not that needed.” Grandfather Fu said with a gaze on ChuHua.
He knew about the person she wanted Meixu to end up with it, and he didn’t like her opinion because she was biased about a life partner.
If Shi Qiao was not a good person, he would never let his granddaughter’s relationship get to the level of them dating. He would have taken care of it since.
No human is perfect, just like Shi Qiao who had visible flaws. The old man of the Fu family saw that his intentions were pure, so he let him be.
Since the old man has spoken, Fu ChuHua could only fume within herself.
”Grandfather, can you ask Meixu to show us her ring so we can help her check its authenticity? You know, we can’t let her get cheated.” FangSu said with a smile.
Fu Hee rolled her eyes at her as replied, “The reason you care so much about her engagement ring, is it not to compare it with yours and see which one is more expensive or beautiful?”
