“What! You did what?” Mrs. Yang asked in shock ? she couldn’t believe her ears.
“I just filed for a divorce, it will be announced officially in the news this evening.” Yang Peng announced further without care. He was happy to be free from the shackles that bound him.
“You filed for a divorce? Why did you do that without letting your father and I know about it?” Mrs. Yang asked with a deep frown.
Yang Peng glanced angrily at his mother and retorted, “Do you want to see the last tinge of hope I had to disappear into thin air before I can get my freedom? And why should I discuss this topic with your and dad again?.”
“We are your parents, you should consult us before taking this bold step. And why should you be this disrespectful to the Bai family? You should have waited for our families to discuss this matter first, before taking a step. Now, not only did you file for a divorce, you signed the papers already and sent them over to the Bai family and informed the media about it.” Mrs. Yang lamented.
She still saw the Bai family as a family far superior to theirs, so she has always been afraid of offending them. And now, this step her son took, was what she would never allow him to do if she was informed.
“There is nothing left for our family to discuss with the Bai family. Bai Jun has been staying at the Bai house for a few days and refused to come back, and so I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to send her the divorce papers. Mum, I don’t want you to question me again. If you encounter troubles dealing with the Bai family, inform me.” Yang Peng said and got up to leave.
Mrs. Yang was in a dilemma because of her son’s actions which were insulting to the Bai family. Mrs. Yang agreed that her son deserved happiness, but not by offending the Bai family.
When the Bai family received the divorce papers which already had Yang Peng’s signature, there was a mixed reaction.
Bai Fen was whopping mad. Being someone that had a lot of pride in her, she felt insulted by Yang Peng’s actions.
“We were ready to send them the divorce papers, couldn’t they have exercised a little patience?” Bai Fen said angrily.
“Why are you so worked up? Are you not happy that your daughter will be free to live her life now?.” The third daughter-in-law asked with a sneer.
“Who asked them to send a divorce paper to us without discussing things with us? And this makes it seem as if they are the one rejecting my daughter when it’s not so!.” Bai Fen retorted.
“There is no need to pick a fight about such a simple matter. Since Bai Jun and Yang Peng hate each other and can not continue to stay married, it is good for them to get a divorce, and it doesn’t matter who files for divorce first.” The first son of the old lady said.
“But this is so unfair to my Jun! Yang Peng was the one that publicly cheated on my daughter, and now, he dares to file for divorce first.” Bai Fen complained bitterly.
“Enough! When Jun comes back, she will sign these papers immediately, so they can be delivered straight to the Yang family.” Old Mrs. said to them.
“Fen, you should be grateful that your daughter still has a lot of time to make amends if she wants to, otherwise…” The third daughter-in-law said and trailed off as a smirk appeared at the corner of her lips.
Bai Fen rolled her eyes at her before turning to the old lady to ask, “Mother, what of Jun’s flight, has it been booked yet? How is the arrangement for her in the US?.”
“I thought you didn’t want Jun to travel to the US immediately, but it looks like you are in a hurry to send her off.” The first daughter-in-law sneered.
The reason Bai Jun wanted to send her daughter out of the country immediately, was because Yang Peng slapped her face by filing for divorce first when he was the one that committed an abominable act first which caused damage to her daughter’s reputation. Bai Fen didn’t want her daughter to be the topic of discussion any more, she wanted her to escape from it.
“Every arrangement will be concluded tomorrow. Her flight had been booked for this weekend.” Old Mrs. Bai said and heaved a sigh.
Back At FJ, immediately after the lunch break was over, Bai Jun went back to her desk to complete her work as soon as possible since she had plans of submitting her resignation letter at the end of work today.
Bai Jun knew that if she didn’t finish her work before submitting her resignation letter, Sunny wouldn’t accept it, so she invested a lot of time into her work.
It was rare to see Bai Jun so into her work. Those sitting close to the desk that glanced at her by coincidence and saw how busy she looked, and went back to their work immediately.
When Bai Jun finished working, it was a few minutes before work comes to an end, so she shut her desktop down. Next, she picked up her important stuff from her desk and put them in her bag, before she got to her feet with the white envelope that contained her resignation letter.
Waking with confident strides, Bai Jun went straight to Sunny’s office to hand in her resignation letter which came as a surprise to the latter.
“What’s your reason for resigning?.” Sunny asked with a neutral gaze.
“I am tired of working where I don’t receive support from my teammates, and my supervisor doesn’t care about my progress, coupled with the issues from my personal life. I am mentally exhausted and can not carry on any longer.” Bai Jun replied.
Sunny stared at her for a while before asking, “Why did you choose to hand in your resignation letter today, you should have done it some time ago.”
“There is no particular reason. Miss Sunny, I will take my leave now.” Bai Jun said with a slight bow.
“Miss Bai, you still have to come to work tomorrow, and you can only leave after Mr.. Fu and the HR team has approved your letter of resignation,” Sunny informed.
