The VIP ward.
Sheng Yize had woken up and was now leaning back against his pillow with a grim face. The medical staff and his assistant shivered at the intimidating air he was giving off.
Aww! Mrs. Sheng, where are you? Come back now or we won’t live to see another sunrise!
“Sheng Yize~” Everyone turned toward the door in unison when they heard that soft voice.
In their eyes, An Xiaxia had just shown up with a halo over her head. Their savior was back!
The chilly air coming off Sheng Yize vanished instantly and he darted her a quick glance.
He didn’t know what An Xiaxia was thinking and had to presume that she was still mad at him.
“Are you hungry? Do you want some congee?”
“Hm,” he said quietly while he scanned the room with his eyes.
Everyone took the hint right away and disappeared from the room, leaving their boss and his wife alone.
An Xiaxia brought the food to his side and Sheng Yize acted as weak as a crippled man.
“Let me feed you, ok?” An Xiaxia suggested. After all, he was a patient.
Sheng Yize reluctantly said, “Hm.”
An Xiaxia fed him the congee with a spoon while jabbering about what had happened. “I ran into Qi Yanxi just then. He said he likes Mu Li! I think they can work it out! Childhood lovers… that sounds so cute! Aah! I have faith in love again!”
Tsundere Sheng Yize said, “We’re childhood lovers, too.”
“That’s not even my point!”
“I know.”
“How can you be so indifferent to such big news! I don’t even want to talk to you!” An Xiaxia complained, wiping his mouth clean with a tissue.
That gesture pleased Sheng Yize. Smiling a little, he played along. “Wow! That’s great news! Relly? Are they getting married?”
An Xiaxia was very satisfied with this reaction. “Teehee! I think so!”
It felt so harmonious and warm.
However, the longer this atmosphere lasted, the more unsure Sheng Yize became.
He even wished that he could be sick for longer.
Otherwise, An Xiaxia’s anger would pick up again once he recovered…
“Xiaxia… I’m sorry about tricking you into marrying me. Can you forgive me?”
This was probably the very first time that Sheng Yize had ever yielded.
An Xiaxia’s eyes were wide open and she stared at him with unblinking eyes.
Sheng Yize’s heart sank. She still wouldn’t forgive him…
“Hey! Why didn’t you say that earlier?” An Xiaxia snorted. “Say ‘Lord Xiaxia, it’s all my fault’ and I’ll forgive you.”
Sheng Yize was dazed for a moment before asking cautiously, “You’re not mad anymore?”
“Of course I am!” An Xiaxia glared at him. “Say it, or my offer will expire!”
His thin lips moved a little. Obviously, Sheng Yize couldn’t bring himself to say such words. He blinked, looking very innocent. “Xiaxia, my stomach is aching again.”
“What? Have I fed you too much? Where’s the doctor? Let me get him for you!” An Xiaxia jumped to her feet in a flurry, but Sheng Yize caught her arm right away.
He led her hand to his lower abdomen, his brooding eyes twinkling. “Rub my belly for me.”
An Xiaxia bought his act and began to rub his belly gently.
As for that “Lord Xiaxia” line, she had completely forgotten about it.
Sheng Yize smiled. However, he didn’t stay calm for very long…
That soft, tender hand and the comforting movements on his belly soon woke his urges…
Had he just dug his own grave?
