Chapter 287: Reflect You to Death

The girl who had been snuck up on took no damage and was still at a loss, but the person who tried to end her with an ultimate skill blacked out and died.
Lu Li felt the corners of his mouth twitching as he held his forehead with his hands. Of all the places this Thief could attack, he chose to strike the head of the system’s daughter.
A little while ago, Hachi Chan had received a new helmet. Its attributes weren’t the best, but it had a very interesting special effect – it reflected 200% damage.
Hit me, and I’ll damage-reflect you to death.
The number that floated above the Thief’s head was almost 500.
While it had dealt around 200 damage to Hachi Chan, the damage reflect dealt an even more massive 500 damage.
His death was truly unexpected.
The crowd went wild. What had just happened?
Why was the person who had stood there and took the attack still standing, while the attacker himself had actually died?
“Let you hit me, I’ll let you hit me!” Hachi Chan hatefully stomped on the corpse of the Thief. If it wasn’t for the fact that the corpse quickly disappeared in a flash of white light, she would have probably been stomping on it for a long time.
“Hmph.”
The Analyst was almost in tears; all he could manage was to dryly comment, “She’s still so cute even when she’s angry, as expected from the popular Hachi Chan.”
The Warlock who was still alive was in complete shock. He could’ve finished Hachi Chan off, but thought about the strange scene that had unfolded before his eyes and lost the courage.
Although the Warlock was shocked, Lonesome Flower wasn’t. He turned around with Azure Sea Breeze and the both focused down the Warlock together.
Hachi Chan also came around to help as well, throwing around all sorts of spells and activating the Special Effects on her equipment.
One of the effects was actually a silence; the Warlock was unable to cast a single spell and died without being able to put up a fight.
Azure Sea Breeze’s team ended up easily winning the match.
“Hachi Chan, you were so amazing,” Lu Xin said with admiration after the team exited.
She had just discovered two people of her age who were both very good at gaming – Remnant Dream, who had caught an amazing pet and Hachi Chan, who had stood there while her attacker simply died. This was even more astonishing than anything else she had seen so far.
“Of course, we’re all the way here already. We’ve never lost before.”
Hachi Chan was incredibly proud of herself; it felt good to be admired. It was a real shame that her best friend, Remnant Dream, never admired her. Instead, she would always try to tame her. Hachi Chan decided that from this point onwards, she would make Lu Xin into her new best friend.
“Your techniques… you should practice on your techniques more. Even I was embarrassed for you.” Lu Li didn’t hold back from bursting her bubble.
This girl was only able to make it this far because of two reasons – she had a set of unusual gears and she had great teammates in Lonesome Flower and Azure Sea Breeze.
“Yeah, I know,” Hachi Chan admitted. She had also realized her mistakes.
She wasn’t an unreasonable girl.
From this point onwards, Lu Li’s team didn’t run into gaming masters like Gaze anymore. Even if they ran into some slightly troublesome teams, it never reached the point where March Rain was sent out of the match first.
The three female landlords came late but quickly joined everyone.
Everyone had no clue what Willow Yi Yi and Wandering had said to each other, but the deal was sealed. Their potion shop would supply the Xin Xin Mercenary Group with all kinds of potions for free. In return, the Xin Xin Mercenary Group would openly advertise this deal.
This was a very profitable opportunity for Willow Yi Yi – the Xin Xin Mercenary Group was already quite famous and once the Shadow Cup was over, their fame would definitely take another step up.
Lu Li didn’t really mind – their rare potions were all crafted by Sesame Rice Ball while their regular potions were bought from the Auction. If people were offering free potions, why would they decline the offer?
Many stores used this kind of advertisement strategy for their products anyway; this wasn’t a formal endorsement.
With the help of her new expert friends, Lu Xin rapidly levelled up. It only took her one afternoon to reach level 10.
Dou Jing Jing had already prepared a skill book for her. They really liked Lu Xin from the bottom of their hearts and were even more prepared than Lu Li.
Taming pets wasn’t a hard task that needed Lu Li’s supervision.
Lu Xin also insisted that she didn’t want his company, so he took everyone back to Astrana to farm monsters.
At this point in time, monsters in the Wild had a certain chance to drop a Mooncake Box. These Mooncake Boxes could be opened by NPCs and contained Mooncakes that applied all sorts of status buffs, as well as some other equipment and items.
However, most importantly, the boxes contained the skill book for “Basic Mounting” and also had a tiny chance for players to receive a mount.
In Dawn, players had to wait until level 30 to have a chance at learning Mount skills and they could only receive mounts after they learned the skill.
Mounts were able to be obtained in many ways – some were obtained from events, others from quests and there even a few mounts that dropped from dungeon bosses.
Even if a player was unable to obtain a mount using those methods, there was no need for them to be dismayed. There were beast masters in the main cities who sold mounts. Although the prices were a little steep, they could always gain glory from battlegrounds if they couldn’t afford it. Once they had the Centurion title, they could exchange 20,000 glory points for a mount from the battlegrounds. However, these mounts would have a slightly slower travel speed.
Lu Li knew a few bosses that would drop mounts and he also knew the strategies for taking them down.
If the Mooncake Box dropped a “Basic Mounting” for him, he wouldn’t mind getting a mount for himself.
The team continued to farmed monsters and queued up for ranked matches. Soon, they had completed the required matches for the day and had also managed to collect a dozen Mooncake boxes.
Including the boxes that he had kept from the past two days, Lu Li had around thirty Mooncake Boxes. The others also had a similar number of boxes.
“Call Xin Xin. Let’s go open these Mooncake Boxes; I heard others saying that they received some pretty accessories from them.”
Hachi Chan couldn’t help herself, seeing that the game time for the day was coming to its end and that Lu Li and the others were still killing monsters.
“Sure, we’ll stop here today.” Perhaps it was because of his sister, but Lu Li didn’t object.
After they returned to the city, they saw that it had been flooded with people.
“Buying Mooncake Boxes at a high price. 20 silver coins for one. I’ve already bought a couple hundred of them and don’t have much money left, so I’m only buying the last ten.”
“It would be a foolish act to not sell your boxes to me – a Steel grade gear for a Mooncake Box. What are you still waiting for? You’ll be able to kill monsters easily with a full Steel grade set. Preparation will quicken the work.”
From the regional channels all the way to World Announcements, these spam messages were everywhere.
These business people kept the prices low and bought one box at the price of 20 silver coins. The event had only just begun and there wasn’t much competition yet.
20 silver coins was a sizeable amount for some people, but for Lu Li and the others, it was nothing.
They ignored the businessmen in the game and walked into the Representative Government Hall.
There was a beautiful secretary who stood beside the magistrate. The leather gear she wore showed off her nice dark-elf body, which attracted many people to line up in front of her.
When Lu Li and the others first arrived, they didn’t attract much attention.
However, when Lonesome Flower, who was standing at the front, took out around seventy Mooncakes, the hall was filled with gasps.
Mooncake Boxes would go straight into a player’s bag once they were dropped. The person who killed the monster had the highest chance of obtaining the box, while healer classes would randomly receive the boxes from monsters killed by others.
Even for a Mage who was capable of dealing area of effect damage, seventy was still an incredible number.
