Of course, everything was chaotic at first, but they quickly organized themselves once they figured some things out.
Everyone was just dealing as much damage as they could while Sea Breaker continued using his Taunt skills. It was impossible for him to tank the Boss on his own as he just didn’t have the HP, but the others were helping him take some of the damage. It looked quite disorganized, but everyone had skills to keep themselves alive.
One after another, the players began falling until the Exile effect ended and Azure Sea Breeze returned. This wasn’t an effect that could be cancelled with the Badge.
Lu Li wasn’t feeling particularly benevolent either.
Although he would definitely contribute to the fight, he would never be the first to die. Players that died wouldn’t receive EXP from the Boss, and would also have a reduced chance of getting Skill Points.
You could say that he wasn’t honest or that he was too calculative, but a man’s personality was the product of his environment. He had grown up in a world where he had to protect his sister and himself, so that they could live a comfortable life. Lu Li would never become a passionate hero like Qiao Feng from ‘Demigods and Semidevils’.
There were some players who saw star players like Sorrowless in the same light as the gentle Ru Yu, an upright person who always did the right thing.
Unforgettable Maple was representative of the old-school players who were also quite calculative, but were also easily affected by their surrounding environment. They had a strong sense of loyalty, and could also be regarded quite positively.
However, Lu Li was different. To those who knew him, he was resolute and someone who persevered. However, to those who didn’t know him, Lu Li seemed quite enigmatic. It seemed like no one could truly understand him. There were some magazines that labelled him as the leader of the new generation of players.
They thought that Lu Li’s every step was calculated, from being a lone player before establishing a team and then establishing a guild. Over a period of 6 months, he had established a guild that rivaled Glory Capital, who had been unmatched for a long time.
Of course, losing a few positions on the Level Rankings was a little embarrassing for him.
However, in an Instance Dungeon like this where it was life and death, it was better that they defeated the Seven. On the one hand, Ruling Sword had formed the foundation of this all-star team. Of the three guilds that were participating, all three had sent their commanders, so there was no way they could stop now.
On the other hand, Lu Li had not yet received any good equipment until now.
Blackrock Abyss was an Instance Dungeon with more than 20 Bosses, but he hadn’t received a single decent item.
After the last Voidwalker was killed, Doom’rel was bound for defeat. His remaining skills were no longer able to kill any more players of this all-star team.
Boss Cleared!
They had all received a large sum of EXP, and some players rose to level 54. Lu Li’s current EXP was at about a third and this Instance Dungeon had brought it up to half full.
The two days that they had spent here were more efficient than a week in the Wild.
The two lucky members to receive Skill Points were Water Fairy and Innocent Child.
There was a Treasure Chest at the end of the hall which held the spoils of this battle. When they opened it, they would see that it was equivalent to looting the bodies of the Bosses. Since the Bosses that they fought were just ghosts, the players wouldn’t have been able to loot them otherwise.
Ghostshroud – an Epic Leather damage output item for Thieves!
This was the best equip that they could have received for defeating the Seven. This reward was truly worth the First Clear.
Lu Li hesitated for a moment, before finally deciding to give up this equipment. He was already using the Nightslayer Ghostface, which was of the same level. Although it was only a Dark Gold item and its Attributes were slightly worse, it was part of the Nightslayer T1 set. There was no need for him to replace it.
Besides, there were only two Thieves here, so this meant the item definitely wouldn’t go to someone else.
Under the attention of everyone present, Water Fairy accepted the Epic headgear that Lu Li had given up. The equipment’s visual effect was similar to Lu Li’s Ghostface. For a female, it didn’t necessarily make them look more sinister, but definitely added an element of attractiveness.
“Hey, I look quite handsome, why don’t I have a girlfriend?” Innocent Child asked in disappointment.
“You’re not looking correctly,” Unforgettable Maple said as he patted him on the shoulder.
“Huh?” Innocent Child responded blankly.
“You should look for a boyfriend,” Unforgettable Maple smirked.
“Hey, Maple girl, are you looking for trouble?” Innocent Child immediately started to get aggressive, but the others quickly consoled him. Everyone was waiting for the equipment to be drawn. The previous Boss they had fought dropped two Epics, and they were hoping that this wouldn’t be too different, especially after fighting seven Bosses in a row.
Unfortunately, there was only one Epic this time. Among the rest were two equipment set pieces and some other spare equips. Everyone rolled for them, but no one had left this Instance Dungeon empty handed.
After defeating the Seven, the door at the back slowly opened. This revealed two paths – one that led to the advanced Molten Core Instance Dungeon entrance and another that led to the lecture hall which would become a source of nightmares for many Dawn players to come.
Lu Li didn’t bother with the Molten Core Instance Dungeon as they would just die repeatedly if they tried. Instead, his focus was on the lecture hall which contained Iron Dwarf recruits. These were not elite monsters and could be cleared easily area of effect skills. Lu Li could kill most of them in one or two hits.
Although they stayed there for about ten minutes, they couldn’t see the end to these monsters.
“Egh, I was to throw up,” Azure Sea Breeze said as he slapped his chest at the thought of facing more Dwarf soldiers. The others had similar looks on their faces. Anyone who had faced the overwhelming number of ordinary monsters wouldn’t be able to stand it either. Not only did they not drop anything, but they also didn’t give any EXP.
It was quite infuriating to not receive any EXP at all!
If there was EXP, they wouldn’t mind farming these monsters for as long as they could. However, since there was no benefit to it and the monsters seemed to go on infinitely, it eventually became a burden to these star players.
Many players that had encountered this part of the Blackrock Abyss would complain about the countless Iron Recruits that would keep streaming in. It was more uncomfortable than fighting a Boss. Some people had even complained to the relevant government departments that this design violated the ‘Gaming Mental Health Law’ and was causing mental injury to the players.
“How about we fight and move over there?” Lu Li suggested pointed at a door on the opposite side.
It was conceivable that if they didn’t move soon that they would eventually be overwhelmed by these monsters.
It was quite difficult to move and fight at the same time as they were completely surrounded. However, everyone’s equipment was good enough, so as long as they protected their Healers, the two Warriors could take turns to use Whirlwind and clear out a path.
Now that they had reached the door, their next problem was in opening it. They didn’t have a key, and their Unlock skills were useless.
There were not many clues on the door. There were only two unlit lamps that contained some ashen remains.
“I guess we need to ignite these two lamps,” Unforgettable Maple said as he eagerly attempted to do so. “Let me try my mini Fireball, I haven’t used it in years.”
There was no difference between a Fire Mage and an Ice Mage’s fireball – it was just that the Ice Mage’s fireball would be quite low levelled. It couldn’t even ignite the unlit lamps and the others didn’t have any tools that could start a fire.
“I saw a monster before that looked a bit different. It seemed to be holding a torch that we could use to ignore the lamps,” Lu Li said as he pointed into the dense group of monsters. Between all the monsters that were running around, no one could really see what he was pointing at.
