When Ras Frostwhisper casted Frost Armour on himself, Lonesome Flower felt defeated.
His Frost Mage skills were basically useless against the Boss and he was dealing less damage than the Warlock pets. He felt ashamed when he saw that his sister was dealing more damage than him.
The rest of the team wasn’t doing as bad as Lonesome Flower, but things weren’t going well either.
“This is impossible; there’s got to be another way.”
At this rate, they would need the entire party to be at least Lv55 or above to defeat Ras Frostwhisper.
Lu Li saw that the time was right and guided his team members to think from a different point of view.
“Like I’ve said before, the gaming developers wouldn’t design a Boss that’s impossible to defeat. There must be something that will either help us deal more damage or make the Boss weaker. As soon as we find whatever that is, we’ll have a higher chance of defeating him.”
They began recalling the items that they had come across throughout the dungeon while the others searched for clues in the Boss room.
“Quest! What about the quest?” Hachi Chan finally figured it out; Lu Li had been waiting for her to say this.
Everyone began looking at the quest line given out by Eva Sarkhoff before entering the dungeon. After killing Kirtonos the Herald and Doctor Theolen Krastinov, there were new instructions for the next quest.
It even mentioned Ras Frostwhisper’s undead body which meant that there was a high chance that this would give them the next clue.
“Let’s stop fighting him for now and do the next quest,” Lu Li suggested.
Everyone was exhausted from being bullied by Ras Frostwhisper and as soon as they heard Lu Li’s suggestion, they all agreed to take a break from the Boss. Doing the next quest was better than wasting their time trying to kill the Boss and potentially falling behind Glory Capital.
“Thank you for burning away our remains,” Eva Sarkhoff thanked them sincerely. Their ghostly bodies appeared to be slowly fading away, meaning that they were closer to leaving this world forever.
It was hard to say whether their current state was good or bad because there were countless Mages and Sorcerers in the past who had tried to turn themselves into ghosts in order to ‘live’ forever.
“No need to thank us,” Hachi Chan said as she shook her head. “Anything else you’d like us to do?”
“Thank you, child; you are so kind and cute.”
Eva Sarkhoff the lady ghost wanted to give Hachi Chan a hug, but she didn’t have the physical body to do so.
She passed on a Spectral Essence to Hachi Chan and instructed, “Take this with you and you can see the dead in the town. If you need any help then you can ask the major. The major is located at…”
She had explained everything that she wanted her to do in as much detail as Hachi Chan could have asked for.
The first-time members were stunned by the NPC’s special treatment towards Hachi Chan.
Jaweika was in disbelief and decided to speak to the NPC. Eva Sarkhoff glanced at him and coldly said, “Take the Spectral Essence and walk around town; maybe you’ll find out something.”
Jaweka was almost in tears and decided to always stick around Hachi Chan in the future for quests.
With the Spectral Essence in their hands, the details of the real world became blurry, revealing a world of terrifying ghosts and spirits.
Ghost World!
There were those that had been wrongfully killed, those that had given their lives up for their country, and those used in unethical experiments. Men and women, young and old, people of different racial backgrounds and even some powerful elementals, they had all ended up becoming ghosts, walking around aimlessly and without purpose.
Normally, Hachi Chan was hopeless in finding her direction, but with the help of her party, they managed to not get lost and made their way to the second level of Scholomance. The mobs here had been cleared before, but with the Spectral Essence in their hands, there was still a room full of people.
This was obviously a bar.
People would drink and eat here, boasting about their adrenaline-filled adventures while poets and singers would recite and sing their songs to the people.
“Mr. Mayor.” Hachi Chan saw her target straight away.
“Child, how can you see me?” the kind old mayor asked as he bent down and rubbed her head with his ghostly hand.
“Someone gave me this and I came to find you,” Hachi Chan answered as she opened her palms and showed off her Spectral Essence.
“Put it away, put it away!” the mayor said, then took a step back and coughed, “Why were you looking for me?”
Hachi Chan did as the others told her to, changing the topic and asking, “Does Ras Frostwhisper really have an undead body?”
“Haha, there’s no such thing as an undying witch. They just instilled their soul into something valuable to them.” The ghostly mayor seemed to know a lot.
“Then how do we find what’s valuable to Ras Frostwhisper? Where would he put it?” Hachi Chan wasn’t very hopeful because she knew she was asking for too much.
As expected, the mayor shook his head.
“I don’t know much about Ras Frostwhisper, but I suggest that you start from what he likes and his childhood. Most of the best times in a person’s life are had during their childhood…”
The mayor’s instructions were actually specific enough.
Lu Li and the others exited out of the dungeon and headed towards Stromgarde, where Ras Frostwhisper had grown up.
“What does Ras Frostwhisper like?” Hachi Chan asked.
“Power – endless power and magic,” Azure Sea Breeze said, overanalyzing.
“Books,” Lu Li interrupted him and gave the right answer.
“Let’s go to a place that stores books then.”
The castle library had been cleared out, leaving behind rows of empty shelves.
If this place was full of books, it would take them ages to find the right one.
In reality, Ras’ valuable item was in the fireplace.
When he was little, Ras would read books alone in the library. For some reason he left halfway through a book that he was enjoying and when he returned, it was nowhere to be found.
He would often think about the stories in that book and was curious about how it ended.
Many years later, when the Lich King took control of his body, his life flashed across his eyes and he realized that he had placed it in the fireplace. The weakness of his soul was taken away, leaving behind The Lich, Ras Frostwhisper.
