Chapter 2019: Seeing Each Other (1)
At last, the competition had ocially begun. All the teams from each school in the Howling Abyss started the preliminary selection on the rst day.
Shen Yanxiao did not go to watch this rst preliminary match.
In the evening, the members of Flaming Red Squad came back with the news of victory. There hadn’t been any accidents in this victory. The returning teenagers chatted for a while and then went to rest.
The whole preselection would take about a week. After seven days, eight teams would be selected for the top eight competition.
Kehr found the time to see the teenagers of the Flaming Red Squad. He asked them some questions before leaving. The whole team was in excellent condition. Kehr was condent that he could see them in the nal rounds. News of victory kept coming to the two teams staying at the same inn. The students of Flaming Red Squad and Royal Academy were already in the middle of a secret competition between themselves. Nobody wanted to lose here.
The rough waves under the calm surface of the sea surged like the tide, which made all the contestants full of energy.
Shen Yanxiao, as the leader of the Flaming Red Squad, became more and more nervous. One day, two days, three days, Shen Yanxiao had only been staying in her room, constantly cultivating while calculating the passage of time day and night. When the rst ray of sunshine fell on the earth in the morning of the fth day, Shen Yanxiao quickly jumped out of bed.
She couldn’t close her eyes all night.
“Taotie.” Shen Yanxiao stood by the window and summoned Taotie while looking at the scene outside. Taotie immediately appeared and looked up at Shen Yanxiao.
“They… Are they here yet?” Shen Yanxiao’s voice sounded a little dry. Taotie opened his mouth and said in a small voice, “They’re here.” Shen Yanxiao’s breathing froze, her whole body seemed to have been hit by an electric current, and her mind turned blank.
Shen Yanxiao opened the window and felt the cool breeze of the morning brushing her cheeks. Her breathing became more and more labored. She stared out of the window, trying to nd something. A slight noise came from behind her.
Shen Yanxiao’s body stiened immediately.
“Little Xiao.” One familiar voice sounded behind her. Shen Yanxiao suddenly turned around, and the face that emerged in her dreams several times nally appeared in front of her this time.
“Xiu…” Shen Yanxiao’s voice trembled slightly. She had always considered herself a very calm person, but at this moment she could not calm down at all.
Xiu stood at the door; his beautiful face had not changed at all, but the usual coldness within his golden eyes could no longer be seen. Step by step, he walked over to Shen Yanxiao. He opened his arms to embrace the person he had missed so much.
However, when Xiu was about to touch Shen Yanxiao, a glimmer of light ashed between the two of them. Shen Yanxiao’s body seemed to have received an electric shock and she felt a burst of stinging pain.
Xiu’s hands stiened in mid-air.
The Dragon God, who had been standing at the door, immediately went forward and pulled Xiu’s arm back.
“She’s an undead right now, your power… She can’t stand it.” The Dragon God knitted his brows. It was impossible for Xiu to not know this. Clearly, the yearning he had been suppressing for too long left him overly eager, and his actions were no longer under the control of reason.
Xiu’s eyebrows wrinkled slightly. He looked at Shen Yanxiao, who was only one step away from him. He watched her small face as it twisted slightly with pain and his heart seemed to break into pieces.
They were obviously so close to each other, yet he was unable to hold her in his arms. His approach was a kind of harm to her right now.
“Xiu?” After the pain faded, Shen Yanxiao raised her head hesitantly.
