This pain first entered her nerves, before spreading throughout her whole body.
Shen Yanxiao’s brows wrinkled tightly. She felt unbearably uncomfortable all over.
Suddenly, a gray mist overflowed from Shen Yanxiao’s chest and gradually took on a human form before her eyes.
Shen Yanxiao’s body shivered faintly. Xiu stretched out his arms and pulled the trembling little fellow into his arms.
“Don’t absorb the power here.” Xiu’s voice sounded into Shen Yanxiao’s ears.
“Xiu, I feel terrible.” Shen Yanxiao clenched her teeth, and in accordance with Xiu’s words, she cut off the connection between her source of life and the external environment. But still, it could not stop the influx of life forces around.
The pain eased a little, but it was still piercing, as before.
Xiu furrowed his brows a bit, his eyes slightly narrowed, and a layer of faint light shrouded the two of them
“There’s something odd about the power in here.” Xiu tightly held Shen Yanxiao in his bosom, carefully pouring his power into Shen Yanxiao’s body to dispel the life forces that were constantly pounding at her.
The little fellow in his arms finally stopped trembling so much. Xiu was slightly relieved.
“What is going on here? I have never encountered such a situation before.” Shen Yanxiao’s complexion finally improved. The life force in this fifth floor was completely different from that of the first four floors. Before, if she did not want to continue to cultivate, she only had to close her source of life, cutting off its connection to the outside environment; but now, even after sealing her source of life, the life force in the fifth floor of the Pure Spirit Tower still flowed into her body.
These self-eroding forces made Shen Yanxiao feel extremely terrible.
“I am not sure yet, but the life forces in here are indeed much stronger than anything before. Nonetheless, according to common sense, these forces should not make you feel painful.” Xiu narrowed his eyes as he looked at the faint mist that surrounded them. He had set an enchantment on both of them to block the influx of the life forces in the room.
The power here was too strange. Shen Yanxiao was already quite able to endure it, yet she still cried out in pain.
It was understandable that the pain she suffered was so intense.
Each of the Pure Spirit Towers provided power that came from the thick and solid tree trunk that went straight from
the ground to the top of the tower. On the first four floors, only the bare trunk could be seen, but in the middle of the fifth floor, branches extending outward were already visible, and patches of tender green leaves dotted the branches.
Through the mist, the little green color was very conspicuous.
“If you want to know the reason, we have to look at these branches.”
Shen Yanxiao nodded. When she entered the Pure Spirit Tower, she noticed the thick trunk in the center of the tower. In this regard, Qie Er only said that it grew out of the fruit transplanted from the Tree of Life. That was the reason why the life forces it emitted were stronger than those of other places.
Before, Shen Yanxiao didn’t think too much of it, but now, after stepping into the fifth floor of the Pure Spirit
Tower, she felt that things were not as simple as they seemed.
Although she had never seen the real Tree of Life, if the trees of the Pure Spirit Tower were only separated parts of the Tree of Life, then the power they produced would not be so terrible.
Yet, the power here was already very strong, and this was still only the fifth floor. If she entered the seventh floor, how powerful would it be?
Was this tree really just a separated part of the Tree of Life?
Even if she managed to enter the Moonshine City, Shen Yanxiao feared that the strength of the life force there would be similar to the upper floors of the Pure Spirit Tower.
