The God Virus Chapter 241

Volume 4 - 239 The Rift In Space

Around an hour later, the army had already locked up and even quarantined the area.

At the moment, there were so many soldiers surrounding the district that one might mistake it for a war zone instead of a normal city domain.

The citizens all around the area and the neighborhood were already evacuated, so no common citizens could be spotted around the vicinity at all.

At first, the police had the situation under control, however, soon, the army arrived there as they took control of everything and became in charge of this odd phenomena.

At this point, an expensive army car arrived somewhere near the quarantined zone as a dignified middle-aged man got out of the car.

The moment he exited, another middle-aged man was already waiting for him there as he saluted.

Understanding the emergency of the situation though, the dignified middle-aged man didn’t bother with any of these unnecessary matters and instead commanded, “Lieutenant general, tell me everything you know about this thing we’re facing.”

“Army general, according to the people who were present at the scene, it’s been around an hour since this fissure showed up. Also, some of them reported that a normal citizen mistakenly made contact with it before disappearing into it.” The Lieutenant general reported every piece of information he understood regarding the crack and its surroundings.

“What did the scientists say?” The Army general inquired further. He had to get a full picture of this whole situation before reporting it back to both the impatiently waiting prime minister and the President.

“Reporting to sir, the scientists will arrive with the helicopter in five minutes.” The Lieutenant general stated.

“Alright then.” Understanding he had to wait, the Army general began to walk toward a special bus that was prepared for him.

Soon, a group of best scientists arrived at the zone as they began their study on this odd phenomena.

An hour later, finally, they walked before the army general as they began to explain everything they were able to understand from this crack. Of course, most of their deductions were only hypothetical.

“Reporting to Army general, the information we gathered regarding that rupture might be wrong in some aspects, so please keep this point in your mind.” Before starting, the lead scientist didn’t forget to warn the Army general about this essential point.

“I understand. Please continue.” The Army general voiced in response.

Nodding his head, the lead scientist proceeded, “So, based on many theories our current scientific fields have reached to this day… that rupture is probably a rift in space and it most likely leads to another location. As to where it leads to… even we have no idea.”

The Army general was startled at first, but then, a sharp gaze worthy of the general of all armies sparkled in his eyes as he threw the most important questions at the lead scientist, “First, will that rift in space disappear by itself naturally? Second, will it expand and endanger everything? And at last, is there any possibilities that some unknown people might exist on the other side of this rip in space… some people that might attack us or hold hostility toward us?”

Listening to these three vital questions of the Army general, the lead scientist first consulted with some of the scientists by his side before starting to respond to the inquiry, “Unfortunately, we can’t respond to any of Army general’s three questions with certainty. However, based on the theories we have studied and comprehended ourselves to this point, we can say the very space itself has a tendency to mend and restore itself… so it will probably disappear at some point.”

Pausing for a moment at this point, the lead scientist proceeded, “As for the Army general’s second question, we believe there must be a cause as to why this rift had appeared here in the first place. So we can only conclude that for this crack in the fabric of space to expand even further, that cause would require even further energy… so that’s highly unlikely.”

“And also, regarding your last question sir, without any confidence in my own words, I would say this kind of crack wouldn’t appear here by itself, so there must be something or someone, or in short a reason that has caused this crack to appear here… anyway, this is entirely unknown territory for us, something we almost have no understanding about!” The lead scientist replied vaguely. Many of his words almost had no scientific base behind them.

“I understand, I have one last question for you, could it be that those monsters in South Korea have come out of a crack like this?” The Army general was smart enough to immediately relate this mysterious space crack to those unidentified monsters which popped out of nowhere since both of them were two unknowns that had occurred just recently.

Catching the question, the lead scientists eyes began to shine in both exhilaration and terror as he had found a new possibility and perspective to look at this situation, so turning around, once more, he began to consult with other scientists.

Five minutes passed, when the lead scientist finally looked over once again and started talking, “Sir, that’s a very likely possibility. Those monsters popped out of nowhere… if we assume that a crack like this had also appeared on Jeju island without anyone spotting it and afterward it had disappeared when the monsters came out of it… that would make total sense. Two never-seen-before mysterious phenomenon happening one after another, they must be related to one another. You got to understand sir, before today, there was no such phenomenon in all our history I believe…”

A deeply contemplative look appeared on the Army general’s face after hearing everything. He was digesting and organizing everything right now.

This process continued for around two minutes before he began to move as he took out a special type of phone and started reporting everything to the other side of the line.

Currently, on the other side of the line, the prime minister and the President were sitting on the table as they conversed and consulted with each other. The Army general had just notified them of everything and now was waiting for further orders.

“So… what should we do? Wait for the monsters to show up? Or charge into the rift with the army? Hmm, they should be appearing soon, right?” While touching his chin, the prime minister murmured in a deeply contemplative state.

“We don’t know what’s on the other side. It’s completely unknown territory, it might even directly lead to the outer space itself, so we can’t risk our soldiers’ lives. That means, we can only wait and prepare for their arrival.” The President also voiced his deliberation.

Shaking his head, the prime minister added, “Still, we don’t know anything about what they are, or what the source of everything is. So we have no choice other than investigating this, otherwise, we would be totally in the dark about our enemies and that might end things very badly for us.”

“That’s also true, how about we send a few soldiers inside for a quick investigation?” Massaging his chin, the President stated with a small frown since he understood this was probably a suicide mission.

“Yes. We can only prepare as heavy as we can while sending some people inside.” Nodding his head, the prime minister confirmed his own view.

In the meantime, the world was going crazy after the videos of this crack on space were broadcasted for everyone in the world to see.

At this day, humanity experienced another turmoil as a seed of fear was implanted in them once more.

Right now, on a television channel, a reporter was elaborating on everything he knew regarding this startling piece of news, “So an hour earlier, in Paris, a fissure showed up on the very fabric of space itself which many scientists call it the rift. According to our speculations, this rift in the fabric of space is most likely to be the reason behind the unidentified monsters that had appeared on Jeju island out of nowhere.”

Another famous News channel was also reporting, “Currently, the government of France is tightly keeping watch right beside the rift as they have already locked up and quarantined the area while waiting for monsters to show up at any minutes now.”
