While they did decide on escorting Vivian’s party back to the Capital, this isn’t something that can be quickly done.
The reason for that is simple. It simply will need to take a good amount of time.
The Ataru Canyon is huge to begin with. For a normal adventuring party to reach the depths from the outskirts, even if they can avoid various obstacles like demonic beast attacks and just counted the travel time on its own, it would still take them several days of time.
The only reason why Shien and Airi were able to get there so fast is all because the two of them flew, and they were far faster than normal people at that.
Add in the fact that Shien and Airi had set out in the evening, as well as the fact that they had ended up encountering a number of incidents when they entered the Canyon in search of Vivian’s party, the time is already past midnight by now.
Given that, as well as the fact that Vivian’s party was exhausted and are unable to move all that quickly, there’s no way for the whole group to quickly leave and return to the Capital.
Seeing the girls all getting more and more tired, Shien finally ended up making a decision.
“Let’s camp here.”
That’s how it is.
Thus, Shien found a flat field within the Canyon with a nearby water source and got ready to have Vivian’s party spend the night here.
Of course, Shien did also worked quite a bit to make sure that everyone will be able to spend the night without worries.
For example, creating a barrier around the area using enchant magic.
“[Enchant – Hide].”
“[Enchant – Banish].”
“[Enchant – Alarm].”
“[Enchant – Isolate].”
Those four enchantments are very useful ones for outdoors camping.
Hide works on the ground beneath them, which makes it so that the area enchanted basically disappears from outside observation. Anyone who looks at it from the outside will only see a dead end.
Banish works on enchanting the rocks around them, making them send out weak waves of magic that disrupts the minds of others, making them unconsciously try to avoid the area.
Alarm is cast on the plant life in the area. If anyone tries to cross the boundary and touch the grass beneath them, then all the plants in the area will start making noise, alerting Shien and the others.
As for Isolate, Shien just drew a circle around their camp and enchanting it with that spell.
With that, the presence, magic power, sound, and even scent of everyone within the camp will all be isolated, making it undetectable to anyone outside.
After finishing all that, the campground is finally safe for everyone to rest in.
Vivian and the others all completely relaxed and directly laid down without being picky before falling asleep, exhausted.
Although there are technically quite a few issues with letting a bunch of delicate beauties like them just sleep on the ground like that, it’s no time to be picky right now. It’s already good enough just having a place to rest for them.
Vivian and the others are also all adventurers. They’re no strangers to camping out, and they’ve had worse at that, so naturally, they’re already quite used to it.
Of course, Shien did still use enchant magic to enchant the air around them with “warmth”, pushing the cold air at night away to provide a relatively comfortable resting environment for the girls.
“You really are good to them.”
Airi personally witnessed all this and ended up commenting on it with a strange tone.
“They’re not your mates, are they?”
Shien rolled his eyes at her. He’s in no mood to humor this overly spoiled girl right now.
Although she really is quite spoiled.
At the very least, when she saw everyone just use a flat field as the campground and resting on the spot, Airi ended up bunching up her cute little forehead before finally deciding.
“I’m going to find a cave nearby.”
With those words, Airi left without a second glance.
Shien didn’t bother with her either.
Either way, no matter what happens, there’s no way that anything could happen to that girl after all.
Thus, Shien decided to just let her run about as she liked.
As for Shien himself…
“Ah… So comfortable.”
Shien comfortably submerged himself into the nearby water source, or a pool in other words.
Yep. He was taking a bath.
“Being able to have a bath even out in the wilderness. This really is quite a luxury.”
Shien half closed his eyes as he enchanted the water within the pool with the “heating” enchantment.
He had to admit, enchantment magic really is very convenient. It’s extremely versatile, to the point where no other magic type can compare.
Even putting aside the fact that there’s a lot of enchantments in total, just a single enchantment can end up having completely different effects depending on different targets and the amount of magic being used.
Take the “heating” enchantment for example. If the target was a rock, then that rock will instantly turn hot. If enough magic is used, then it wouldn’t be unusual for it to turn directly into lava.
Yet, if it’s water that’s being enchanted with “heating,” then it would naturally end up boiling the water, turning it into hot water.
It’s just that one must pay careful attention to the amount of magic being used.
Otherwise, if one ended up overheating the water, then not only will one be unable to enjoy the pleasures of a bath, they may even end up directly boiling all of the water into steam.
“If astro magic is outstanding in its power, then enchantment magic’s specialty is its versatility.”
During this trip through the Ataru Canyon, Shien had tested the effects of those two magic types as much as he could. In the end, he was quite satisfied with the results.
“It looks like I didn’t chose wrongly.”
Shien was thankful that he chose astro and enchant magics to learn.
After learning the two magic types, Shien felt like it was absolutely the right choice, no regrets whatsoever.
“Of course, it would have been even better if I could have learned spatial magic and lifeform creation magic as well.” Shien muttered to himself unhappily.
Although he says that, Shien does feel like he wouldn’t have the energy to learn spatial magic and lifeform creation magic even if they were placed right in front of him.
Just memorizing all the incantations for astro magic and enchant magic was enough to drive Shien near mad. Shien felt like his entire head will end up exploding if he had to memorize anymore.
“Alright, I confess. I’m not some SWOT at all, I’m actually a slacker.”
Studies are mere illusions.
If he really was a SWOT, then why would he bother being a Hero?
In that case, he might as well instead find some unknown corner of the world to instead research the mysteries of the world and become an archwizard. Wouldn’t that be great?
“… Cough. It really wouldn’t ge.”
Shien shrunk down on himself as he considered the horrors of an archwizard.
He’s reincarnated into another world here, so why bother with wizardry?
It’s obvious that it should be the harem route all the way!
Shien started burying himself in his wild imaginings like always as he luxuriated in the comfortable waters.
At least, until he heard the clear sound of someone getting into the waters.
“…”
Shien went silent.
He didn’t open his eyes.
It’s because he knew very well what just happened.
It’s not like his [Magic Power Detection] is for nothing.
There’s no way that he would fail to notice someone getting close.
Rather, it’s not like he didn’t anticipate something like this.
Otherwise, why would he be bathing out in the wilderness?
That said…
“Even if I was anticipating something like this, it’s only just anticipation. If possible, I really would rather that you properly rest and not push yourself too much.”
Shien opened his eyes while letting out a bitter chuckle.
The next second, Shien saw that familiar figure.
Who else could it be beside Diere?
“…”
Diere submerged herself into the pool, naked as the day she was born, right before Shien.
That completely nude figure was still as petite yet alluring as always.
Naturally, that mood wrecking mask was still on Diere’s face.
Diere just quietly soaked herself within the water.
Only after a while did she finally slowly speak.
“I’ll tell you a story.”
