The Capital as a whole was enormous in how much land it took up.
At the very least, based on Vivian’s explanations, Shien thinks that the amount of area the Capital takes up could almost match some small countries in his previous life.
“The Capital is split up in a total of eight districts, corresponding to the directions of the eight city gates.”
“The east district is the residential district. It’s basically where the commoners and wealthy merchants live.”
“The west district is the noble district. Just as it says in the name, it’s where the nobility lives. The higher placed the noble, the closer they’re placed to the center of the city. Minor nobility live near the edge. It’s clearly divided by ranks. That’s were we came from just now.”
“The south district is the industrial district. It’s filled with all kinds of workshops, be it magic potion labs, magic weapon forges, or magic item crafts. Pretty much all the manufactured goods sold in the Capital are created there.”
“The north district is the military district. It’s comprised exclusively of camps and training grounds for the knights. All the knights of the capital are based there, and it’s where they live and train.”
“As for the southeast and southwest districts, both of them are merchant districts. The shopping streets that you guys have your attention on are basically all in those two districts. The northeast and northwest districts are the governing districts. It’s were all the governmental buildings are. The adventurer’s guild is also one of them. It’s set in the northwest district, near the western noble district and the northern military district.
“Finally is the royal palace, or rather, royal castle. It’s set in the center where all 8 districts intersects, which is also the center of the city. It’s connected to all 8 main roads, and from it, you can head directly to any of the districts or city gates.”
“That’s the basic layout of the capital.”
Vivian led everyone in looking around as she gave the explanation.
Although it’s supposed to be taking everyone to look around, but for one, the only ones who needed to look around are Shien, Lumia and Melika. Diere was born in the capital, so she just followed along silently without joining in the conversation at all. For two, the capital really was just too big, and there’s no way that they can check out everything in such little time. They didn’t even really have the time to properly look around the merchant districts, so there was no way for them to really do too much.
“There are some carriages specifically set for taking people to other districts if you really do want to check out the merchant districts.”
Vivian so stated. It could be imagined that it’d probably take a good amount of time to get from the western noble district to even the relatively close by southwestern merchant district.
“L-let’s wait to do that some other time then.”
“Y-yeah.”
After fully experiencing the full splendor and size of the Capital, Lumia and Melika were both intimidated into wanting to back off.
After all, they just finished a long stint of travel. If they have to keep running about this day as well, then putting aside Lumia for now, Melika as a pure mage really wouldn’t be able to take it.
Thus, today’s plan was probably just taking a quick look about. As for actually doing stuff in the Capital, that’s probably going to have to wait for the next day.
Shien was somewhat disappointed at that though.
“I really did want to check out the magic weapons here though.”
It bore mentioning that Shien still doesn’t have a decent weapon to use. Therefore, he had long since anticipated picking out something good at the Capital.
That particular though, after his battle with Baydr, had only grown stronger.
It was because while using Balon’s sword, Shien finally managed to experience what it’s like to not have to hold back. Not only was he able to push magic power into the sword quicker, better, and smoother when using [Magic Sword], he didn’t feel any discomfort no matter how much he fought. It clearly showed just how important a good magic weapons is to a melee type fighter.
It was only afterwards that Shien found out that the magic weapon in question was forged from a very valuable magic alloy. The effect was that it could increase the flow rate of magic power and even stabilize said flow. It’s very good for practicing skills like [Magic Sword].
Likely, the reason that Balon got that sword in particular was for the sake of learning [Magic Sword], right?
So long as he could learn the ultimate close combat skill that is the [Magic Sword], then even if Balon hasn’t reached level 70 yet, it would still be enough to quiet any more mutterings against him.
After all, this skill was something very difficult to learn even for someone at level 70. Some people haven’t learned it even at level 80, which makes obvious just how difficult toi learn and powerful it is.
Of course, Shien actually has a weapon far surpassing Balon’s.
Holy Sword.
That sword was a truly divine weapon. Balon’s sword couldn’t hold a candle compared to it.
Shien had tested out using the Holy Sword for the [Magic Sword] skill. The result was that he almost remodeled the landscape again, which frightened him into immediately stopping the infusion of magic power.
That said, when he was using the Holy Sword, Shien could infuse as much magic power as he wanted without any issues. It also felt incredibly smooth using his magic sword with it. He didn’t need to worry one bit about the weapon being unable to handle it. The only issue is that the power was a bit hard to fully control.
The Holy Sword did raise all skill levels by 10 after all.
After Shien’s already max leveled [Magic Sword] underwent that boost, just the slightest show of its power was enough to nearly scare Shien to death.
Given that, Shien didn’t dare to use the Holy Sword at all.
That wasn’t a weapon anymore, it was a nuke. Even if he could run about while lugging a nuke around, it’s not like he’d dare to actually blatantly bomb anything with it.
Thanks to that, this strongest divine weapon had basically turned into a showpiece in Shien’s hand, which gives him mixed feelings.
Due to the fact that the Holy Sword has very few chances of being used, and the fact that Shien’d identity might get exposed if he kept it with him, Shien had even tried to bury it somewhere outside the town. The result of that is that when he woke up again the next day, the sword was lying in his arms. It had returned at some point without him knowing.
One of the Holy Sword’s effects had plainly stated it too, it cannot be lost.
Thus, Shien had no choice but to wander around while carrying said nuke.
However, even if he’s forced to carry it around, there’s no way that Shien would casually use it.
That’s the problem that Shien has. In the end, it could only act as an accessory on him, so he himself needs to find a way to get his hands on an actual decent weapon.
In other words, Shien wants to check out magic weapons first.
“Even though I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford it, they should at least let me take a look.”
Shien nearly let out something akin to a whine.
Shien thus didn’t notice that Vivian was looking at him thoughtfully from the side.
Then, Vivian spoke up.
“Since we’ve already come out, then there’s one most important place we need to go to even if it means leaving everything else for later.”
That statement caught everyone’s attention.
“Most important place?”
Shien also blinked.
At this moment, Diere also spoke up.
“Can we see it now?”
Diere asked a question like that.
“There shouldn’t be any problems.” Vivian smiled and replied to Diere, “Did you forget what time it is now?”
“Ah…” Diere acted like she just remembered something important.
Naturally, Shien, Lumia and Melika were completely confused.
Seeing them, Vivian showed a deeply meaningful smile.
