At the same time, Vivian was walking towards the direction of Balon’s tent.
Vivian would head over to Balon practically every single night to discuss the planned next steps of their journey and confirmed the route for the transport team.
It wasn’t just Vivian either. Alrith also does the same thing.
That one was also one of the top adventurers of Lamdrion. His level and combat ability aren’t inferior to Vivian by any means. In this particular transport quest, the who of them were basically the main leaders besides Balon himself. Each leads their own separate adventuring party and work together with the knights. Although they do follow all of Balon’s orders in public, the two of them were in actuality outside of the knights’ chain of command, so a lot of matters need to be discussed with Balon before they can be implemented.
Originally, Leon, as the last adventuring party’s leader, was supposed to be the same as Vivian and Alrith and also discuss various necessary matters with Balon during the journey.
Unfortunately though, Leon was someone without any abilities in that respect. Beyond perhaps making some minor moves when it’s to his advantage, he didn’t have any real competence when it came to the actual work.
He himself didn’t really care for any of those tasks either. It’s just one of the minor things that could get him some some profits if he joined, after all. Beyond that, none of it is within his consideration.
When it comes down to issues like those, Leon would just state at the very start something like “everyone can decide on your own. I have no objections at all”. Afterwards, he would basically sit out of the discussion.
In the world of adventurers, someone like Leon being looked down on is only natural.
However, the person himself doesn’t mind at all.
Vivian knew that it was because Leon’s final goal is to become nobility. Being an adventurer is just a means to make connections, that’s all. The person himself didn’t care one bit how the world of adventurers actually rate him.
In Leon’s mind, he would become a noble sooner or later one day. There’s no way that he would stay an adventurer.
Thus, to Leon, the identity of an adventurer as well as his ratings in the profession were things he could easily do without.
In that case, it was obviously impossible to make Leon be more professional.
Honestly speaking, Vivian didn’t particularly care to say anything about that either.
Everyone has their own wills, as the saying goes after all. Even if Leon’s starting point is somewhat impure, so long as it doesn’t effect other people, why bother worrying about what they do?
Vivian is someone with firm principles, but her own view on thing differs from a lot of others. From a certain point of view, one can call her someone rather unusual.
Thanks to that, Vivian would rarely consider things from a single point of view. Rather, she would consider the entire situation and the thoughts of everyone involve. She also tends to suppress her own personal opinion, and not allow her own personal bias to affect her judgment.
That was why Vivian would, based on the current relations of the three races, adamantly tell Shien that “the Hero must not appear” back in the beginning. It was also why she could decide to lend Shien a hand even when wasn’t familiar with him and put such absolute faith him him. That was something that was very difficult for anyone else to do.
Leili had once gave Vivian an evaluation. That her values were not like a human’s. Rather, it’s more like a god’s.
Vivian couldn’t particularly deny that either.
After all…
“To be absolutely truthful, it’s not like I’m completely unrelated to the gods either…”
As she thought of the difficult to speak up secret in her heart, Vivian’s mood turned rather complicated.
“Perhaps this viewpoint of mine is because of the [god] part of myself.”
It was because of that reason that Vivian’s own opinion of Leon is rather objective. She considers him as not a very professional adventurer, but it was still an entirely valid way of life, so she did not deny it either.
At the very least, Leon was very cooperative of everyone’s actions. Baring cases where it’s damaging to his own profits, he would generally not object to anyone else’s decision. In a certain way. he’s someone very “easy to get along with”.
Since it doesn’t affect others, Vivian doesn’t want to particularly say anything about his personal motives.
As already described, Vivian personally still tries to respect Leon as a person. She wouldn’t act with stinginess when it comes to basic manners.
However, recently, Leon’s actions did indeed end up affecting Vivian somewhat.
“Good evening, Miss Vivian.”
Just as Vivian was heading to Balon’s tent, a familiar voice called out to her.
Vivian stopped walking and let out an exasperated sigh in her mind before turning about and facing the direction the voice came from.
There, the figure that she had anticipated appeared.
And it wasn’t alone either.
“Vivian…”
Eudrice’s extremely guarded voice also entered Vivian’s ears.
There, a that magic item merchant’s daughter walked out from a nearby shadow while hugging a man’s hand.
Who else could that man be but Leon?
“Good evening, the two of you.”
Vivian nodded to the two of them in greeting. Her sharp eyes discovered something unnatural with the two of them.
Basically, the clothes on the two of them were a bit rumpled. Leon had red marks on his neck, and Eudrice’s seductive face was even more coquettish and energetic. Add to that the fact that the two of them have a rather warm atmosphere, it was obvious at a glance just what those two were doing just then in the shadows.
Vivian once again sighed in her mind.
Leon on the other hand acted like nothing had happened. As he subtly pulled himself out of Eudrice’s arms, he showed Vivian a smile.
“Is Miss Vivian heading over to Sir Balon’s place now?”
Leon’s spoke in a modest and gentle tone. His every motion was filled with elegance in a way that gives off a good impression.
Unfortunately for him, Vivian knew full well that those actions were done purposefully by Leon.
“Indeed.” Vivian did not look straight at Leon. Instead, she lowered her eyes and spoke politely, “Our travels today encountered an unexpected and unplanned for ogre pack attack. It’s possible that something similar might happen tomorrow too. Just in case, I felt it necessary to discuss the matter first with Sir Balon and Alrith. See if maybe we should change our planned route so as to avoid danger zones.”
“It really has been hard on you.” Leon spoke up as if worried over her, “To make a woman like Miss Vivian to shoulder such things. It really is a failure on my own part.”
“No, nothing like that.” Vivian shook her head, “This is my work, so how can it be considered Leon’s failure?”
“Then at least allow me to show you my thanks.” Leon smiled at Vivian and continued, “How about, after we reach the capital, I invite Miss Vivian out for a meal.”
