The City of Terror Chapter 50

Chapter 50

Chapter 50 – This is the Dark Knight?

However, Zhang Zhi Long simply ignored Wei Xiao Bei’s complexion, and praised him.

“Can I go on stage again?”

Wei Xiao Bei was unwilling to just return with 1,400 yuan, so he asked the man.

“You can, let me quickly arrange it for you.”

Towards Wei Xiao Bei’s request, the man became extremely happy. For every match that Wei Xiao Bei would fight in, he would gain quite the profit.

Soon, Wei Xiao Bei once again got up on stage.

This time, his opponent was called the Dark Knight. Wei Xiao Bei immediately became annoyed when he saw him.

Isn’t your skin only a bit darker? Why did you have to choose such a flashy name?

Compared to the previous Homicidal Demon King, this Dark Knight was a lot shorter and thinner. However, his martial skills were a lot better than the Homicidal Demon King, to the point that he was able to exchange a few moves with Wei Xiao Bei.

However, his martial skill was most probably learnt through street brawls only. There were many holes in his defense. As a result, he was kicked off the stage after a few rounds.

After winning two rounds, Wei Xiao Bei’s Fierce Tiger nickname began to come out from the spectators’ mouths.

Wei Xiao Bei, himself, became more excited due to the audience’s shouts.

However, after the third round, Wei Xiao Bei had no choice but to leave.

The reason was simple; it was because the arena’s boss was unwilling. From the second round, a lot of the spectators had placed their bets on Wei Xiao Bei. On the third round, other than stupid people, the spectators placed their bets on Wei Xiao Bei.

Like this, the arena boss would not only not earn money, he would also have to lose money.

Luckily, the arena boss was still reasonable. Even if he made a loss, he did not leave out Wei Xiao Bei’s appearance fee.

When they returned to the dojo, Wei Xiao Bei’s face was still filled with excitement. This was the first time he fought on stage. He was not only able to test his martial arts, he was also able to earn money.

It definitely couldn’t get any better than this.

After fighting three matches, Wei Xiao Bei had earned 3,700 yuan. This was simply equivalent to three months salary of his previous job.

Fighting was truly profitable. However, Wei Xiao Bei’s enemies were too weak. He felt like an adult fighting a grade schooler. He had earned money, but in his heart, he was not that happy about it.

Wei Xiao Bei was thinking about asking his second apprentice brother to bring him to a better underground fighting arena, when he suddenly heard Zhang Zhi Long speak, “Junior Apprentice Brother, you are not satisfied by today’s fight right? If I knew that you were this strong, I would have brought you to a different one. It’s alright though. I will bring you to Cui Hu City’s best underground fighting arena next week.”

“Yes. Thank you second apprentice brother, third apprentice brother.”

Wei Xiao Bei was not someone who was unable to differentiate good from bad. His two apprentice brothers had helped him, if he did not say even a word of thanks, he should just return to his mother’s womb.

With more than 3,000 yuan, Wei Xiao Bei temporarily had enough to use. At the very least he did not have to worry about his rent.

Today was Sunday, so the dojo was closed. The students who had to brave the intense heat to come and train, would be able to take a break. After all, it was summer break. If they trained everyday, they would not be able to endure it.

Because the dojo was on break, Wei Xiao Bei was also on break. However, he still woke up very early and trained with his apprentice brothers. Afterwards, he brought Yao Wu to a sport equipment store to buy himself two sets of weight vest and leg weights.

The weight vest looked similar to a normal bullet proof vest. It was made of thick material and had 16 pockets specifically made to fit weights. The leg weight on the other hand had 4 pockets.

The weight vest and leg weight costed 150 yuan a set. It was not that expensive, and the quality was not at all bad.

Wei Xiao Bei tried on one set of weights in the store and picked up the special weights, weighing it in his hand. It weighed almost 100 grams and placed it in one of the pockets.

After filling up all the pockets, he tried to get the feel of it, but  couldn’t help shaking his head.

It only had a total of 2kg. It was so light,  he could not feel a thing.

Seeing Wei Xiao Bei shake his head, the normally silent Yao Wu already guessed his thoughts. A rare smile appeared on his face as he asked the owner, “Boss, do you have any lead plates here?”

“Ah. We have. The standard weight is 1kg.”

The well-built store owner smiled and made his assistant bring one over.

The lead plates were only as big as a palm so they could fit in the pockets.

“Bring out 20 pieces!”

“Wei Xiao Bei tried to weigh the lead plates in his hand and felt that they were not bad.

When the owner heard it, he already knew Wei Xiao Bei’s thoughts. He tried to dissuade, “Little brother, when the pockets are filled, it would weigh 20 kg. Are you sure you can bear it?”

Wei Xiao Bei smiled, “Let me try it. How would I know if I don’t try it?”

After filling up the vest and leg weights with the lead plates, Wei Xiao Bei practised pacing around the place. He slightly frowned but did not take out the plates.

After paying, he felt his muscle ache.

Two sets of weight vests and leg weights with lead plates costed him 1,000 yuan.

He had no choice, since those special lead plates were nowhere cheap to begin with.

Carrying 20kg everyday would be absolute suffering from a normal person’s viewpoint.

However, from Wei Xiao Bei’s point of view, it was only somewhat heavy. Overall, he kept it on for a long time. His walking had already started becoming strenuous, and it was especially hard when he was training. When evening came, he was already drenched in sweat.

Wei Xiao Bei continued this for days. There was not a day where he was not drenched in sweat.

However, his efforts were worth it.

In just three days, his muscle and sturdiness attribute had both increased by 0.1 points.

Although the changes the training had resulted in were not big compared to manually placing points, it would still continue to accumulate and become beneficial in the future.

Naturally, he did not forget about The Dust World.

It was the next Sunday, so the dojo was closed. He bought a bottle of white wine and returned to his apartment.

After chugging down the bottle, he returned to The Dust World when he opened his eyes.

Wei Xiao Bei was pondering a question at this moment.

If there were so many people who get drunk everyday, why is it only me who can enter The Dust World.

Of course, he was slightly wrong since the previous two dead people were also able to enter. However, compared to  the entire Cui Hu City, it was too small.

He knew that he would not be able to find the answer. If he truly wanted to know, it would be the same as trying to climb into heaven.

After leaving the apartment, Wei Xiao Bei went straight to Lake Cui. What disappointed him was that the Fishmen Village had been crushed to nothing. Even the bones of the Fishmen’s corpses had disappeared without a trace.

Moreover, when Wei Xiao Bei tried to fish for half an hour, he came up empty, and could only helplessly give up. The Fiendish Man Fish which originally needed only a bit of blood as lure simply did not bite.
