When Uncle Tian spoke again, he was struggling to get the words out of his mouth.
“Who are you, exactly?”
Almost immediately, he spat out another mouthful of blood.
He had led his men into hiding all these years, engaging in the occasional yet necessary scuffle. He had never been beaten up to such a pitiful state.
Even his trump card, the treasured pill that had been passed down through generations, couldn’t help him at this crucial time.
Uncle Tian had foolishly thought that teaching these two girls a lesson was as easy as crushing a bug under his foot. After all, they were supposed to be sheltered young ladies from rich families, naive and clueless about the ways of the world.
He never imagined that this encounter might prove to be his downfall.
At the very least, he was now certain that the girl before him was no ordinary person.
“So, you don’t know who I am?” Yao Tangasked softly as she slowly sank into the stool thatNie Yunhad brought over. “You don’t even know who I am, and you still dared to plot against me? Your courage is quite commendable.”
Uncle Tian was at a loss for words.
Of course, he had looked into the backgrounds of Yao TangandQin Jingbefore. As far as he knew, they were merely high school students. Even if they were attacked, it would have been dismissed as another random incident.
He just had to make sure that his men cleaned up well after themselves, and there should be no problem.
Meanwhile, Yao Ranstood from a distance and watched in disappointment. She had put her trust inUncle Tianto finish off her enemies, but it was obvious now that she had made the wrong decision.
Could it be that he was in cahoots with Yao Tangall along? Perhaps he had deliberately approached her to play her for a fool…
Desperate, Yao Ranburst into tears. “Why do you guys always target me?” she bawled. “I’m a cripple now! Are you still not satisfied?”
Uncle Tian’s chest ached when he heard this.
That person’s descendant, the eldest daughter of the clan, should have been pampered all her life. She deserved nothing less. But now, not only was she crippled, but she was also mercilessly hounded by these vicious brats.
It pained him to think that he was incapable of avenging her.
He swept another glance at Yao Tang, his voice dripping with animosity.
“You can do whatever you want, but don’t hurt Ranran. You stole her fiancé and bullied her at school. I only wanted to get retribution on her behalf. All of this, I did on my own. It has nothing to do withRanran. So let her go and come at me!”
Yao Tang chuckled mirthlessly.
“You should have known before getting into this that you would have to pay a price if you failed. If you can’t even afford that, then why bother taking revenge in the first place?”
Uncle Tian met her eyes and remained firm.
“I’m ready to take the blame and suffer the consequences. It doesn’t matter what you do to me, but don’t lay a finger on Ranran. Otherwise, we will fight you to the death.”
Yao Tang remained emotionless in the face of his solemn declaration. OnlyNie Yun’s expression shifted.
“Miss, since has already spoken, we should nip this in the bud and eliminate them at the roots. We couldn’t risk leaving a weed that might grow to harm you in the future.”
Her team was accomplished in their field. If anyone were to pose a threat to Yao Tang, they would hunt them down relentlessly.
Yao Yan had often lectured them that the best way to protect their ward was to eliminate the bad eggs before they even hatched.
Nie Yun’s eyes now flashed between Uncle TianandYao Ran.
It was all she could do not to lunge forward and slash the man’s throat there and then.
This man displayed a murderous intent toward their young miss. He had a host of men at his disposal, and their martial arts were not to be underestimated. It was clear to Nie Yunwhat she had to do.
Uncle Tian heaved and vomited blood once again, draining what little strength he had left. He knew he wouldn’t be able to defendYao Raneven if he wanted to.
As for the girl herself, she was overcome with loathing toward her supposed savior. If he hadn’t shown up and boosted her confidence, she wouldn’t have bothered stirring up trouble with Yao Tangin the first place.
Look where that had gotten her. She couldn’t even begin to think about the kind of abuse that was waiting for her in the hands of Yao Tang.
Nie Yun turned toYao Tang, waiting for her orders.
Yao Tang tilted her head to the side and smiled faintly. “Everything you guys were planning to do to me, you shall experience for yourselves.”
Uncle Tian braced himself.
They had indeed said that they were going to teach her and her friends a lesson. However, they had never divulged their true intentions.
She must be talking about another bout of beating, right?
And yet, a keen sense of foreboding washed over Uncle Tian, as if something much worse was about to happen.
