It didn’t look like it was intimidated by Yao Tang’s cool gaze because it immediately jumped right out of the bushes and pranced over toward her.
As it sat in front of Yao Tang, its beady eyes blinked right at her.
Staring up at the young woman, it waved its paws, showing her its injured paw. Dried blood coated its skin, but luckily, the bleeding has stopped.
“You want me to bandage you?”
Yao Tang pursed her lips.
The fox slowly bobbed its head.
Thinking that it would be able to curry favor by acting cute, its ears twitched and it stuck out its tongue to please her.
Looking at its human-like appearance, Yao Tang immediately thought back to the mutated leopard just now.
Had the leopard hurt it?
Yao Tang took a step forward and gazed at the wound. It didn’t appear to be a deep cut. After applying some herbs and bandaging it with some gauze, the fox would be fine.
However, why was the leopard chasing after it?
She looked around again and confirmed that they were very near to the location that had been marked on the map. It was just a few hundred meters ahead.
“Wait for me, okay?”
Yao Tang walked through the narrow road she had taken.
She remembered seeing some herbs along the way that could help with the fox’s paws.
After plucking a couple of herbs, she saw that the little fox was sitting under the tree. It waited obediently, staring at her with its eager eyes.
The corners of her lips rose.
It seemed that the fox was smart.
After the fox was bandaged, Yao Tang was about to get up and leave. After all, she still had more work to do. She took a deep breath.
What she didn’t expect was for the fox to block her path and make a gesture.
It’s as if it had wanted to tell her something.
“You want me to go with you?”
Yao tang tilted her head.
The little fox nodded.
The fox was so adorable! If Lin Xin had been here, she would’ve convinced her to keep it. She’d even shower it with tons of food if it meant the fox could stay with them.
However, Yao Tang was the one it was speaking to, not Lin Xin. “It’s dangerous,” she reminded, slowly and gently pushing it to the side.
Yet, before she could take another step forward, the fox hugged her leg once again. Its eyes shone with sincerity as it stared up at her.
After a few times of gently pushing it away and the fox attaching itself to her right back, Yao Tang had no other choice but to agree.
With a triumphant grin, the fox jumped onto the road and motioned for her to follow.
Just like that, Yao Tang followed the fox into the depths of the forest.
Without another word, they found their way into a quiet valley.
As soon as they entered, the little fox yelped in alarm.
Before she could say anything, a legion of foxes appeared from the different burrows of the valley. They were all running toward her at incredible speed. In front of them was a much larger white fox.
Her fur was smooth and her eyes were bright.
It seemed that this was the leader of the legion.
All the foxes were growling, and the female fox was narrowed and attentive.
The little fox immediately sprinted over to the female fox, immediately nudging its head around its leg. It’s as if the little fox was trying to convince her that it was fine.
Before long, the female fox slowly bowed her head in gratitude.
The little fox nodded in agreement.
Finally, the female fox pulled a meteorite, buried under the layers of rocks before handing it over to Yao Tang.
Yao Tang took the stone.
Could this be the meteorite?
The female fox’s eyes shone with great reluctance. However, it didn’t say another word in response. While this stone was a treasure, it had brought endless strife toward its kind. It was high time that they handed this stone over.
And it seemed Yao Tang was the best choice.
She didn’t expect that by doing a good deed, she’d be able to obtain such a great treasure. Her eyes lit up as she observed the stone in her hand. This mission was a success, it seemed.
She shoved the stone into her backpack as she was walking out of the alleyway.
Suddenly, a voice echoed from the bushes.
“It’s her! It’s the woman who hurt John! Quickly, everyone surround her—don’t let her escape!”
It was Anna!
Sounds echoed from different directions.
