“That’s right. She’s already placed first at the Math Olympiad Competition and is even a top student in our grade. Why would she go to such lengths if all she wanted was fame? She’s already popular as it is!”
“Yeah, I think she was just guessing. She has pretty good instincts, too.”
“How would she even be able to predict a natural disaster? Do you have any evidence to back up your claims? If not, then you’re just slandering her!”
Chen Yi looked around frantically when she realized that her plan wasn’t working.
She had no evidence, of course, but the fact that she was the one being questioned now enraged her even further. They had even brought up the Math Olympiad Competition.
“So what if she ranked first, or that she’s a top student? Do you think good academic performance is automatically equivalent to a good character?”
A hush fell over the crowd. They all looked at Chen Yi pitifully, like she was some fool who had finally gone out of her mind.
Seeing this, Yao ranwalked up to her and pulled at her sleeve. “Chen Yi,” she said softly. “Don’t say anymore. I believe that my cousin would never do anything you just said. She can’t possibly risk everyone’s lives over something so trivial.”
Yao Ran wasn’t supposed to participate in today’s ceremony since the hike would only aggravate her foot injury.
But she didn’t want it to heal quickly, to begin with. Once she recovered, Qin Manwould definitely force her to undergo surgery. She wasn’t prepared to suffer everything that came after that.
