“I’m so sorry,” Xu Xuan sputtered. “I still have something to do. The kitchen is waiting for me to take out some dishes and serve them to the customers. I’ll be taking my leave now.”
Just like that, the men behind Young Master Lu seemed to inch forward, each of them sporting a menacing expression.
The man who had previously scolded her stepped up again. “Who do you think you are? You’re just a poor excuse for a waitress working in this shady establishment. You should consider yourself lucky that you caught Young Master Lu’s interest. What are you putting on airs for, huh?”
Lu Qing crossed his arms over his chest and sneered, waiting for the girl to speak.
But Xu Xuanonly took another deep breath before pushing the cart past them.
The man moved quickly, stepping in her path and holding the cart in place.
“You wench! How dare you run away after provoking Young Master Lu? I’m telling you right now, there’s no way you can escape! I suggest you accept the blessing that fell into your lap and let our Young Master Lu appreciate you.”
Xu Xuan was getting desperate to leave. She mustered all her strength and pushed the cart.
The man must have been distracted, because she managed to overpower him and send him stumbling to the side.
At this point, he was itching to smack some sense into her. He pointed a shaking finger at Xu Xuanas she fled, yelling, “You’re leaving just, like that? You good-for-nothing piece of scum! Hey! Stop right there!”
Xu Xuan ignored him and headed straight for the kitchen.
The man turned to Lu Qingand smiled sheepishly. “Never mind her, Young Master Lu. We shouldn’t stoop down to her level. There are plenty of other beauties here for you to enjoy. Allow me to—”
“There’s no need for that,” Lu Qinginterrupted as he watchedXu Xuan’s figure disappear in the distance. “I want her. Have her come to the private room later. Tell the management I asked for her to be our waitress.”
“Understood, I’ll get to it right away!”
The man dashed off and relayed the instructions to the nightclub’s supervisor.
Xu Xuan was still in a state of panic as she pushed through the kitchen doors and deposited her cart in the service area.
She had finally escaped those bastards.
Just as she was about to carry on with her task, she spotted the supervisor entering the kitchen in a huff.
He scanned the room until his gaze zeroed in on Xu Xuan. “Xu Xuan, take care of Room 409. Our guests are eager to be served, so hurry up and bring them their food.”
“But Sir, I’m not in charge of Room 409. I was assigned to Room 401, and my guests have just begun their meal.”
Xu Xuan had a helpless look on her face, but the supervisor only glared at her.
“If I tell you to go, then go. Why are you kicking up a fuss? Do you think you can continue working here if you keep this attitude up?”
Xu Xuan was still reluctant. “But my guests…”
“Just go! If the customers aren’t happy with your service, I will dock your pay!”
Hearing this, Xu Xuanhad no choice but to comply.

Without another glance at the supervisor, she fetched the cart for Room 409 and brought it upstairs.
Her footsteps were heavy as she walked toward the room and knocked on the door.
As usual, Xu Xuan’s head was lowered when she wheeled the cart inside. Someone spoke just as she was about to serve the dishes, and the voice made her freeze on the spot.

She had heard that voice before. Just a few minutes ago, in fact.
Xu Xuan slowly looked up and was horrified to see the man called Young Master Lu sitting in front of her.
She had survived similar situations in the past, and she had foolishly thought that these people had decided to forget about her.
