Talisman Emperor Chapter 1698

Chapter 1698 – Sudden Death

The surroundings were deathly silent.

It was common knowledge that when Domain Enlightened Spirit Gods possessed nine Divine Altar Spirit Lights on the Divine Dao Altar within their souls, they could already be considered as Spirit God Exalts, and they could look down upon most of their peers.

For example, all the people in the surroundings were such figures.

Moreover, Spirit God Exalts were extremely rare and one in a million. For example, there were an entire 1,000 plus regions and countless universes in the Ancient God Domain. However, only a small portion of these regions could produce Spirit God Exalts.

After all, existences at such a level had already attained the limits of the Domain Enlightened Spirit God Realm, and they were unprecedented.

However, there had always been a legend in the boundless years that the Ancient God Region had existed. This legend said that there was a flawless state above Spirit God Exalts, and it had broken through the limits. It was said to be ultimate, the stage of a peerless exalt!

Such a stage was called the perfection-stage of the Domain Enlightened Spirit God Realm, and its defining trait was possessing the Ultimate Divine Dao Altar!

This naturally didn’t refer to those experts that possessed a single spirit light on their Divine Dao Altar, and it was the act of fusing all nine Divine Altar Spirit Lights into one in order to establish a Divine Altar Lightwheel!

Because too few experts had attained such a state since the ancient times until now, most people in the world were utterly unaware of this state, and it was even to the extent that some had never even heard of such legends.

However, to the Spirit God Exalts that came from the top-rate sects and clans of the Imperial Region, they were naturally clearly aware that it wasn’t a legend and existed for real.

For example, Yea Chen who was ranked at the 1st position on the Domain Enlightened Chart was the best proof!

Yet now, in this peak battle with Luo Shaonong, Chen Xi had actually revealed the might of the Ultimate Divine Dao Altar, so it naturally seemed to be slightly shocking and unbelievable.

Coupled with the fact that he wasn’t well known in the Ancient God Domain before this, and his name hadn’t appeared on the Domain Enlightened Chart. All of this seemed to be even more inconceivable.

At this moment, Chen Xi seemed to have become the center of attention. He wore green clothes and stood by himself with sword in hand. He still looked the same as before, but the hearts of everyone had a wisp of deep fear and even terror towards him now!

Luo Shaonong coughed up blood as he stood up. He wiped the bloodstains on the corners of his mouth, and he stared fixedly at Chen Xi while revealing an utterly complicated expression.

I lost!I actually lose to a young man that’s completely unheard of in the Ancient God Domain!

At this moment, Luo Shaonong who’d always been proud and conceited couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of defeat, and he was unable to accept such an outcome.

He looked towards the Master Xuan’s Divine Temple in the distance, and he was clearly aware that the Imperial Sovereign Dao Root he dreamt of was within there. So long as he seized that Ancestral Dao Root, then he wouldn’t have to fear any Universe Enlightened Ancestral God in the world once he advanced into the Universe Enlightened Ancestral God Realm.

However, the precondition was that he got rid of this obstruction, Chen Xi!

However… based on the current situation, could anyone be a match for Chen Xi?

Stomp! Stomp!

These thoughts flashed instantaneously within Luo Shaonong’s heart, and before he could make any decision, a wave of footsteps resounded through space.

Chen Xi attacked once more with sword in hand, and the space between his brows was covered in a murderous and chilly expression while he revealed an oppressive imposing aura.

You’re going too far!Could it be that this fellow really intends to kill me?

Luo Shaonong was infuriated in his heart. He didn’t believe that Chen Xi dared to kill him, but he still felt that Chen Xi’s actions were a form of trampling on his dignity, and it caused his expression to instantly become gloomy and livid.

Luo Shaonong had already decided. At this instant, if Chen Xi dared to force him into a hopeless situation, then he would summon all the other Spirit God Exalts to attack Chen Xi together and fight Chen Xi desperately to the death!

Pu!

But right at this moment, a muffled sound resounded.

Chen Xi stopped abruptly before swiftly turning his head, and he saw that Zhen Liuqing was coughing up blood in the distance while her beautiful face was ghastly pale. Moreover, the space between her brows were filled with a pained and struggling expression while her slender and delicate figure was trembling endlessly. She seemed to be enduring a form of extreme torture and pain.

Chen Xi’s heart instantly shook while his face changed slightly. He couldn’t be bothered to continue fighting Luo Shaonong, and he flashed over to Zhen Liuqing’s side while he said anxiously, “Liuqing, what happened?”

At this instant, the others were surprised as well, and then they heaved sighs of relief in their hearts. Since something unexpected had occurred to Zhen Liuqing, it just happened to prevent Chen Xi from continuing his assault, and it had helped them deal with this dangerous situation.

Only Luo Shaonong seemed to have realized something, and he glanced at Gongye Zhefu who stood at the side. Sure enough, he noticed the corners of the latter’s mouth were suffused with a wisp of a cold smile, and Gongye Zhefu was looking at Zhen Liuqing with an icy cold gaze.

“I’m… I’m fine…. Ah!!” Zhen Liuqing’s entire body trembled even more violently, and her pretty face grew even paler and translucent. Moreover, the space between her brows was covered in an expression of pain, and she herself was drenched in cold sweat. In the end, she couldn’t refrain from spitting out a pool of blood, and the blood revealed a strange mottled color, yet its smell was extremely sweet and tempting.

However, Chen Xi instantly determined that it was a form of highly toxic poison!

This caused his face to instantly sink while a wisp of ghastly killing intent suffused the space between his brows. He gritted his teeth and said, “Who did this?”

“There’s no need… no need to worry about… me….” Zhen Liuqing’s pretty face was dreary while her voice grew weaker and weaker. In the end, her figure actually weakened to the point of being unable to support her up, causing her to fall to the ground.

“Liuqing!” Chen Xi hurriedly embraced her in his arms, and he was anxious, furious, and in pain.

He seemed to have realized something. He turned around and instantly locked onto Gongye Zhefu while his expression was icy cold to the extreme.

“It was you who poisoned her?” He spoke word by word, and his voice seemed as if it was squeezed out from the cracks between his teeth. Even though his face was calm, those who were familiar with him were clearly aware that he was completely infuriated.

At this moment, Gongye Zhefu’s livid expression carried a wisp of complacency, and it seemed to be slightly hideous. He said proudly, “This isn’t poison because no poison in the world can kill a god.”

He paused for a moment before he said in an unhurried manner. “As for what exactly it is…. Haha, kneel down for me, and I’ll tell you slowly. Alright?”

His words were filled with a complacent tone from taking revenge, and it carried a form of intent to humiliate and provoke as well.

Chen Xi’s eyes narrowed while the killing intent in the depths of his eyes were already seething to the extreme. Since he’d entered the Ancient God Domain, he’d never had such a strong and pressing desire to kill someone like he did now.

“Let Liuqing go, and I’ll spare all of you this time.” Chen Xi took a deep breath, forcefully restrained the rage in his heart, and spoke slowly.

“Hahaha….” Gongye Zhefu raised his head and roared with laughter while his silver hair fluttered. After that, he restrained his laughter and spoke in a contemptuous tone. “Chen Xi, didn’t you really like her? Weren’t you able to lay down your life for her? Now, I only asked you to kneel down. Could it be that you can’t even do that?”

Chen Xi’s expression was already indifferent to the limit while copious killing intent was accumulating throughout his entire body, and he was on the verge of being unable to restrain himself.

However, the more he seemed like this, the more delighted Gongye Zhefu felt in his heart. He roared with laughter and said, “Hurry up. If you continue wasting time, then that woman won’t be able to persist for much longer.”

Before Chen Xi could speak, he continued. “Of course, after you kneel, I’ll definitely tell you exactly what has happened to here, and I will even help her relieve the pain she feels. However, all of this will depend on your performance.”

“Kneel!”

“Chen Xi, if news that you knelt for the woman you love entered the outside world, wouldn’t it be a form of good reputation?”

“It seems to me like this fellow has to kneel, unless he wants to see that woman die!”

In the distance, Di Jun and the others couldn’t help but mock Chen Xi and roar with laughter. They felt that Gongye Zhefu had already grabbed onto Chen Xi’s weak spot, and Chen Xi couldn’t act wildly any longer.

Only Luo Shaonong frowned. He seemed to feel like it was beneath him to use a woman to coerce Chen Xi, but he didn’t say anything in the end.

At any normal time, utilizing such a despicable method against an enemy would definitely cause all of them to feel ashamed. However, at this moment, for the sake of dealing with Chen Xi, they’d become completely shameless and exposed the extremely ugly side of them.

“What’re you hesitating for? Kneel!” Gongye Zhefu shouted loudly, and he spoke in an overbearing manner.

“Don’t!” Suddenly, Zhen Liuqing somehow mustered the strength to grab tightly onto Chen Xi’s clothes, and she cried out. “Chen Xi, don’t agree to it! I’ve been inflicted by the Ancient Lich Restriction, and Gongye Zhefu is unable to resolve it at all!”

The Ancient Lich Restriction? Chen Xi felt a wave of agitation in his heart. It was the first time he’d heard of such a thing, so he was naturally helpless against it and didn’t know where to start.

“Bitch! If you dare to speak another word, then trust me, I’ll definitely bury your Master with you!” Gongye Zhefu’s face sank, and he berated in a fierce voice.

Zhen Liuqing’s entire body stiffened, and she revealed an extremely pained and suffering expression. This sight caused Chen Xi’s heart to hurt to the extreme, and he simply hated Gongye Zhefu to the bone.

At this moment, he finally understood why Zhen Liuqing had constantly refused to acknowledge him. It turned out that she’d been inflicted by this Ancient Lich Restriction, and even her Master, Daoist Dao Que, had been captured by the Gongye Clan!

Under such circumstances, anyone would probably be led by the nose by Gongye Zhefu and have no choice but to obey him.

That damnable bastard! Chen Xi’s eyes seemed as if they were burning and surged with killing intent that was extremely terrifying and couldn’t be restrained.

Right at this moment, Zhen Liuqing suddenly struggled to raise her head in his embrace, and her clear eyes stared at Chen Xi while she said in a weak voice, “Chen Xi, do you know. I’ve always… really envious Qing Xiuyi. She… had a child with you… after all…. Since… my Master and I were captured… the thing I feared the most was… being… unable to see you… again… for my entire lifetime…. Now… seeing you like this… I feel that… I wouldn’t feel any regret… even in death!”

Chen Xi felt another wave of piercing pain in his heart while indescribably rage surged throughout his body like lava, and he was on the verge of exploding.

“That’s enough! I’ll definitely save you!” Chen Xi spoke in a low voice. His voice seemed as if it was squeezed out from his chest, and it was a mix of sorrow and rage as it surged through the heavens and the earth.

All the others in the surroundings were slightly anxious when they saw this. Especially Gongye Zhefu, he faintly felt that the situation was bad, and he roared in a stern voice. “Bitch! Don’t even think that you’ll be able to obtain release in death! Don’t forget that your Master is still locked up until now!”

However, Zhen Liuqing seemed as if she hadn’t heard all of this. The pained expression on her face vanished, and it was replaced by a wisp of a blush. Her gaze was tender like water as she raised her fair hand that was trembling slightly, and she touched Chen Xi’s face while muttering as if she was talking in her sleep. “Being able to love someone that loves me in my lifetime and being embraced by you while my body is still pure…. Even if I die just like this, I’ll still feel indescribably happy….”

Her voice grew weaker and weaker until it vanished completely.

She’s passed away all of a sudden.

A wisp of a heartfelt smile still hung on the corners of her mouth, and she revealed a tranquil and beautiful bearing just like when he’d met her for the first time.

He seemed to still not dare believe his eyes, and he just stared blankly at everything before him. After that, he suddenly raised his hand, and he howled with extreme sorrow and rage while heart piercing pain swept throughout his heart and almost suffocated him.

“NO!!!!!”

Authors Note: I’m aware that many would be delighted to see something happen to Zhen Liuqing. But in my heart, Zhen Liuqing has always been pure and beautiful like when I first wrote about her. As for whether she really died, I’ll be writing that on my own, and I’ll be ignoring the opinions of all the ‘specialists’ in the comments.
