Autumn Cicada originated from the mighty Snowdrift Clan and was one of the two major inheritors of the younger generation. Since she was small, she had displayed extraordinary talent and had been praised as one of the greatest geniuses in the history of The Sisterhood, someone who had an extremely high chance of becoming the matriarch in the future.
How could such a woman, upon which so much magnificence had converged, not know how to kill? It was just her cold and indifferent nature that made her unwilling to strike unless it was absolutely necessary.
Xiaoyu’s anxious order had finally made Autumn Cicada use her law power. All was quiet when she did not use it, but when she did use it, the earth would shatter!
*Bang!*
In a simple and casual fashion, a demon Law Emperor had been sent to the heavens by Autumn Cicada., his entire body instantly turning to dust, leaving nothing behind. This was how terrifying her law force was!
Of the remaining four demon warriors, one was held down by Moon Song and about to die while the other three were staring in disbelief, their minds still reeling over the fact that such a fairy-like beauty possessed a cruel and nigh evil law force. It did not match her demeanor at all!
“Run! I know who she is! This is the successor of that group of old witches!” shrieked a one-eyed man who had recognized the skill used by Autumn Cicada at this point.
*Whoosh~*
Autumn Cicada slightly frowned and flicked her wrist. Another gorgeous white figure charged out, and in the same way as the last, the ghostly figure went through the one-eyed man, freezing him into a statue before he burst into powder!
The tables had turned so abruptly before the five warriors from the Demon Race suddenly realized that they had become the prey. While these girls looked pretty and weak, once they actually started attacking, they were completely no match for them!
*Whoosh! Whoosh!*
The two remaining warriors had no time to think, abandoning the bodies of their friends to flee!
While Autumn Cicada’s law force was incredibly powerful, it was rather slow when it came to pursuit. The two other white figures she released failed to take the lives of the demon warriors, so she could only watch as they fled.
“Hmph! We let those scoundrels off easy!” Moon Song stopped holding her fingers to her temples and cursed. The warrior she was controlling thumped to the ground and died, bleeding out from every orifice. He had probably suffered a lot in the illusion Moon Song transmitted to him.
The three girls assembled and continued their way eastward. Autumn Cicada’s display of power had let them get away without a scratch, but Moon Song seemed to be very interested in her law power and constantly asked about it.
“Hey, what sort of law did you use just now? I’ve never seen or even heard about it before,” Moon Song raised her chin and asked.
Autumn Cicada softly replied, “Oh, that’s Phantom, an offshoot of the Law of Matter.”
Xiaoyu had wanted to stop Autumn Cicada from revealing her secret; alas, she was a step too slow. Autumn Cicada apparently had no sense of wariness, so she was just a mess of unsophisticated innocence.
“The Law of Phantom? Strange. When you released your attacks, they didn’t seem like law power but souls that instantly freezes your opponents. You said that the Law of Phantom was born out of the Law of Matter, so it should be considered to be an ice type, right?” Moon Song asked.
Autumn Cicada shook her head. “The enemy freezes not because of low temperature, but because their cells have stopped moving. To be more precise, the Law of Phantom stops the motion of all matter and causes it to disintegrate. As for the white figure, while it appears like a human, it isn’t.”
Moon Song did not quite get it. She recalled that those warriors did not produce the sort of fog that would be present from low temperatures. In fact, not even the surrounding temperature had changed. It seemed like Autumn Cicada’s law power was not the same as the Law of Ice that that madman Chen Dong was using. They only appeared similar on the surface.
Other than sighing in wonder over all the variety in the Law Realm, Moon Song really could not make sense of anything. A human body’s cells were constantly moving, and Autumn Cicada’s law could instantly and forcibly stop their movements before taking apart these living warriors… It was utterly absurd!
“It’s a good thing that you’re not my enemy,” Moon Song muttered between pursed lips. “Let’s continue. I really have to wonder why those people in the clan are concerned about this stupid battlefield; what divine weapons… It’s been nearly a week, but we haven’t run into a single one.”
The battlefield was desolate, the boundless black soil surrounded them like a murky ocean. They would often see abandoned suits of armor and weapons scattered around, but these were all of extremely low rank. The truly good stuff had been taken away long ago—a fact that Moon Song found very hard to accept.
Autumn Cicada casually said, “Mother said before that there won’t be any high-grade divine weapons left on the Ancient Battlefield of Gods and Demons.”
Moon Song was startled and then asked with a frown, “They knew that there won’t be high-grade divine weapons, but so many of them still come here? They’re crazy! All of them!”
Autumn Cicada shook her head and softly said, “There are no high-grade weapons, but there will be exceptional weapons. The high grade items have all but been excavated by now but whether any of us could come across the truly superb items would all depend on fate. These things have hidden themselves on the Ancient Battlefield, awaiting the right time to appear.”
Moon Song was shocked, hastily asking, “Are you telling the truth?”
Xiaoyu answered, “The young miss is telling the truth. The truly exceptional treasures have intelligence and won’t allow themselves to be taken away by just anyone. We have been sent here to both raise our cultivation using the AI here and to see how lucky we may be on the battlefield.”
It was said that, in the last several thousand years, one or two of the exceptional items had appeared at certain intervals; alas, when the time came, several thousand warriors would start an all-out brawl for these items.
Moon Song somewhat understood what Autumn Cicada and Xiaoyu were saying. It turned out that ordinary armors and weapons would no longer come out of the Ancient Battlefield. If something appeared, it would undoubtedly be of an exceptional quality! This was why these clans were on a mad scramble for the battlefield. Autumn Cicada and Xiaoyu came from a Great Clan, so they have a better understanding toward the Ancient Battlefield than Moon Song.
“So it was all just a journey to test one’s luck,” Moon Song took out a cucumber and began chomping on it as she commented. “Let’s keep traveling across this wasteland and see how lucky we are, then. The hills are just ahead. The terrain will only get more and more complicated, so we need to be more careful.”
“Mm.” Xiaoyu and Autumn Cicada nodded at the same time.
…
As the three girls pressed eastward of the battlefield, a force of Demon Race warriors was slowly gathering behind. More and more people gathered, soon exceeding five hundred in terms of number!
This was a nightmare for all the God Race warriors. Anyone discovered by them would find it difficult to escape!
The leader of this force was a fat and dark-skinned man wearing black armor. Wherever he walked, wind stirred beneath his feet. He was the only Law Overlord on this battlefield, Sezsny of the Darkpearl Clan!
Under his leadership, this group began to divide their labor. Some people were responsible for searching, others for encirclement and capture, while others dealt with logistics. It quickly became a small-scale army.
Their goal was not merely to search the battlefield for weapons but also to start an encompassing purge!
Those who could enter the Ancient Battlefield had to be from decent background, and they probably had good items on them. Getting divine weapons would be a pleasant surprise, but taking the harvests of others would also generate a good profit.
At the moment, the demon warriors were enjoying this sort of group attack more and more, the sensation of sweeping through everything. After all, the spoils being distributed to all of them were real, and everyone benefitted. Meanwhile, Sezsny used this chance to establish his prestige, not even glancing at the spoils.
Within his tent, Sezsny was carrying out a secret conversation with two other comrades from the Darkpearl Clan.
“It seems like the time is ripe. Our group currently has six hundred warriors, with even those idiots from the clans of Edusa and Kerry on our side. If we can get Evil Eye Sean from the Waterwood Clan on our side, too, our group will be invincible on the Ancient Battlefield!”
Sezsny listened to the report from a comrade and sternly asked, “Where is Evil Eye Sean right now?”
“He has formed a small team with a few others and is to our south. Those God Race warriors have been battered around by him. While his team is small, they’ve done quite the good job.”
Sezsny nodded. “The Waterwoods can’t be underestimated, but we probably don’t have the time to negotiate their joining. Time is of the essence, so we need to follow our original plan and head to the eastern part of the battlefield. Moreover, the Waterwoods have never been on good terms with the Darkpearls. Convincing Evil Eye Sean and his unreasonable crew will be very difficult, so we don’t need to waste our time.”
“But,” a thin Darkpearl member frowned and said, “we’re currently still a little weaker than the elders wanted us to be.”
“Hmph!”
Sezsny casually raised his head and proudly said, “I’m already a Law Overlord. Even without the help of a few extra experts, I’ll still be able to complete the mission. What’s most important is that we have enough cannon fodders.”
The other Darkpearl youth was much more quick-witted, hastily saying, “Yes, the elders didn’t account for the fact that you might become a Law Overlord. We have six hundred warriors; if we recruit a little more on the way there, we should have eight hundred or more by the time we reach the eastern hill zone!
“With these cannon fodders, we’ll definitely be able to complete the mission the elders gave us and bring the Law of Time back to our Darkpearl Clan!”
He spoke in a very soft voice, but when he said the word ‘Law of Time’, the mood in the tent became oppressive, the eyes of the three flashing with excitement.
Sezsny smiled, but his dark face was suffused with frightening savagery.
“Yes. Our Darkpearl Clan discovered this secret long ago. No one has ever been able to bring back the mysterious Law of Time, but we’ll complete this important and glorious mission this time!”
*Clap!*
Three dark and hairy hands stacked on top of one another. The three Darkpearl warriors felt it difficult to suppress their excitement as they whispered, “Starting today, we’re heading east!”
