And if Mother Gu could secure herself some sort of backup, then Gu Wushuang, too, would be backed by a solid maternal family.
Huo Wencheng was a rational one and immediately thought of the best support that they could secure.
Gu Wushuang’s limpid eyes lit up. “Mommy made a call already. I think Big Uncle and Aunty will be come over from capital city today.”
Huo Wencheng felt somewhat of a relief. “Then you can relax a little.
“Shuangshuang, I am sorry that you have had a few rough days,” said Huo Wencheng as he put his arm around Gu Wushuang.
From where he stood, she has yet to recover from her surgery and had to put up with her father’s betrayal and her mother’s breakdown. And also had to prop up a company all on her own. It was no easy task and it made him feel that he felt all the more protective toward her.
This was the time when he felt that he had made the right decision having her choose the most conservative of her family’s business chains.
At the very minimum, there wouldn’t be much for her to worry about recently.
The company was already mature with or without her making executive decisions. There were no major issues to worry about.
Huo Wencheng patted her on her back. “Don’t stress yourself out too much. Aunty is sad but don’t cry with her every time. The doctor had already said that even though your incision had healed up but you still need to manage your emotions and not let yourself get too emotional.”
Gu Wushuang’s lips trembled feebly and she grunted her light acknowledgement.
A complicated watery light flashed past her teary eyes.
That was right. She hasn’t recovered completely yet.
She couldn’t be sad with her mother.
If her Uncle from the Zhang family could convince her mother to return to the capital with them and get some much-needed rest, her mother, as a daughter of the Zhang, should feel pretty comforted too, right?
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to take care of her mother and all of her expenses on food and everyday items. It was that it was probably better for her to get some much-needed rest at the Zhang to try and recuperate. That would certainly be better than staying at the Gu’s place and be sad and cried every day!
Gu Wushuang’s face lit up more and more.
That very night, Gu Shishi stayed inside the study and listened to the boss telling her about the basics for most of the night.
Something about the 5Ps of marketing, the formula for setting prices, management of inventory, just-in-time production, etc. etc.
All of the advanced knowledge seemed somewhat difficult to her.
But the boss’s voice was magnetic and patient.
He would pause and check on her reaction after each theory.
Whenever he saw a blank look on her, he’d give her a few day-to-day example and analyze it for her.
“Oh~!
“So that’s what that meant~”
The room was filled with exclamations from Gu Shishi time and again.
They even had dinner in the study that night.
Gu Shishi did not forget to kiss up to the boss and pour him tea in between taking notes.
Worried that his throat would be dry or have a sore throat, she even made him a cup of Scaphium affine to smooth his throat.
She had a lot of experience in kissing up from taking care of her elderly master in the past.
Sure enough, Huo Sishen was well taken care of that night.
The girl would hand him a cup whenever he was thirsty.
Or fruits when he was tired.
In fact, she would thoughtfully suggest to take a break every hour or so.
He had never felt so good having discussions with any of his subordinates.
Most importantly, she took this very seriously.
She said this was a learning opportunity and carefully jotted down all important concepts.
She never interrupted him but merely made a note where she was confused and would only bring it up to him after he had finished talking.
When he talked, “oh so mighty”, “oh so smart”, and “how do you know some much” filled her limpid eyes as she looked at him with admiration.
Huo Sishen felt that he didn’t mind teaching her like this for the rest of his life.
Hand-held her, taught her, till she had defeated her opponents.
It was fun and an entirely different sense of accomplishment as a man.
