“Wushuang, you seemed to have lost more weight. How are you feeling recently? Do you still have tightness of the chest at night?”
Old Madam Huo had dyed her hair black, but her eyes was a cloudy yellow color.
She was way less spry than others her age.
After what happened that year, she had aged overnight. Losing her emotional support had almost crushed her.
Gu Wushuang had just picked up some vegetable and placed it in her bowl.
Hearing that, she put down her chopsticks respectfully. There was a slight smile on her face but one could tell that her eyes weren’t smiling.
“I’ve been feeling much better. Thank you for asking. Grandma Huo.
“I no longer need to rely on the medications.”
None of the elders at the Huo’s like her.
If Huo Wencheng hadn’t been insistent upon it, they would have much preferred Gu Shishi to marry Huo Wencheng instead.
The death of the two men of the Huo’s had casted a shadow over the Huo’s.
With the exception of Huo Wencheng, there were only two women left of the entire Huo’s.
Gu Wushuang was unhealthy. It was questionable whether she would be able to bring healthy descendent to the Huo’s. And that was a very serious problem.
Huo Wencheng was young and talented. Had he been matched up with an unhealthy woman, what would happened if she died from her illness? That would give the only man in the family the reputation of being a curse to his wife.
Neither Mother Huo or Grandma Huo were supportive of that.
In other words, they did not approve of Gu Wushuang.
In the past, Gu Wushuang was the Gu’s only daughter and they couldn’t possibly show their discontent.
But now… Gu Wushuang was proved to be a fake.
Old Madam Huo never smiled at her even once all day long today.
Huo Wencheng picked up a piece of meat for her with a smile.
“Grandma, Wushuang is looking much healthier than she was in the past.
“Even the doctors had said that she was almost the same as a normal person and could also do some light exercises.

Old Madam Huo laid down her chopsticks.

Mother Huo, whose cheeks were so sunken that made her cheekbones stood out, handed a bowl of soup to her son.
“Now you remember that you still have a sister?”
She glanced over at Gu Wushuang.
As she had tall cheekbones, she seemed particularly cold and mean.
“Niece Wushaung, you would be going home regularly on the weekends in the future and dine with your birth parents, right?
“Relationships need to be built. A person must remember where they come from.”
Now they were mocking her with her birth!
Gu Wushuang gritted her teeth so hard that she could crush them.
But, instead, she looked down at the cabbage in front of her, seemingly very docile.

She paused and, finally, started talking softly under Mother Huo’s baffled look.
“It was all my fault. A few days ago, I’ve invited my sister Shishi to the Luo’s party. She… she returned to Big Brother Huo’s house with Chuchu afterward… I’ve heard from Big Brother Cheng that she seemed to have spent the night there…”
