Ning Meng slept until she naturally woke up. She took her phone and noticed that Huo Beichen had texted her: [Good Morning.jpg]
It was a cute cartoon boy greeting and the same GIF series as the female rabbit that she had sent.
“??”
She was shocked to the core and opened the “Is the Boss Angry Today?” WeChat chat group.
Ning Meng: [Was Lord Chen’s WeChat account hacked?]
Su Ye: [Shouldn’t be. Boss’s phone requires a password to open.]
Qi Shan: [I was wondering if the boss’ phone was hacked last night too. He actually asked me to look for emoticons. Can you believe that?]
Su Ye: [Did you find them?]
Qi Shan: [I was a bit busy at that time, so I asked Fei Bai to help me find some.]
Su Ye: [And?]
Qi Shan: [He found a few.]
Qi Shan sent over five or six GIFs which were all: [KILL.jpg]
There were some holding knives, some being held at cliffs, and all sorts of bloody violence.
Ning Meng: […]
Since she had confirmed that his account was not hacked, Ning Meng replied: [Morning hubby! To see your message as soon as I woke up, I will have a good day today!]
Ning Meng felt a little tired. Since when did Huo Beichen chat with her on WeChat? She had to fart rainbows even when he was not at home now!
At 5 pm, Ning Meng drove to the performance arena. It was the first time there was a live broadcast show, and they would begin the live stream of the show at 7 pm. There could not be any mistakes.
When Ning Meng arrived, Lin Qingbei had had his makeup done and was wearing his black suit. The stage was his wherever he went as he exuded a dazzling aura. They came into a big resting room where all the performing artists were required to wait. There were already a few of them when they arrived. After they had greeted each other, Lin Qingbei found a spot to quietly sit at, when suddenly, the room door flung open.
Zhen Shanmei angrily walked in. She noticed Ning Meng looking at her, so she enlarged her eyes and fiercely said, “Lemon Essence[1], what are you looking at?”
Ning Meng pursed her lips. “Because you look beautiful.”
Zhen Shanmei’s eyes lit up and she looked at her laced black skirt, blinking with eyes that were caked with heavy makeup. “You think so? I do think I have quite the rock style which is the craze today.”
Ning Meng curled her lips.
“Out of all those words, only one word suits you.”
“What?”
“Crazy.”
“…”
Seeing that she was about to burst in anger, Ning Meng smoothly changed the topic.
“Where’s Li Haojie?”
“Su Tiantian lost her voice so he went to see her.”
“??”
Bang!
The door was flung open yet again, only this time, it was Li Haojie angrily walking in and he went straight toward Lin Qingbei.
“Newbies nowadays don’t bother to make good music and only know how to broadcast live streams? You’re an insult as an artist!”
Ning Meng raised her brow. In this world, live streams had not become a fad and were not acknowledged, but why would Li Haojie make such a claim?
She chuckled.
“This is something that should be raised to the program crew. After all, isn’t this program a live broadcast?”
Li Haojie stopped dead in his tracks.
At this point, the director accompanied Su Tiantian in. He looked at Ning Meng and Lin Qingbei with guilt but smiled anyway. “Little Bei, it’s like this. Teacher Su has lost her voice and can’t sing her song anymore. Why don’t the both of you switch songs?”
Everyone was stunned upon hearing this.
The song Su Tiantian had chosen required one to sing between high and low notes frequently and the difficulty level was extremely high. If one could pull it off, it would definitely bring honor, but if one failed to control the voice when singing, it would be quite the humiliation. How could they ask Lin Qingbei to change songs at the very last minute?!
[1] 柠檬精 is a Chinese internet slang used to describe people who get jealous of the smallest of things. This is basically Zhen Shanmei’s nickname for Ning Meng.
