Chapter 194 – Put Him Down…
Shui Zian’s body was marred with bloodstains but he still moved as swiftly as ever. Powerful water currents flowed under him as if there were a huge river under him, lifting him up and ramming about everywhere like huge dragons as Shui Zian tried to escape from the encirclement of his three foes.
He was old and he was not as strong as he used to be. After enduring this protracted battle for three long days, he had lost quite an amount of energy and stamina. With the addition of the injuries on his body, he eventually suffered some difficulties during the battle.
If he was still at the prime of his life, he might not have even felt tired. After all, he was a member of the Shui Tu Clan, a clan renowned for their durability in battles as a result of the unique techniques and arts they practiced.
“Shui Zian, you are indeed very powerful, being able to withstand our joint attacks up until now. What a shame, you’re no longer the same as your were when you were younger.”
An old lady provoked Shui Zian as she swung her Bright Moon Mirror, launching Sword Qi that clashed non-stop with the 【Sword Sixty-Four Styles】and she said again, “We used three days to exhaust you so that we could kill you without worrying about you being able to retaliate before you die. Now now, since you are already exhausted, it’s time for us to harvest your life!”
In mid-air, the【Sword Sixty-Four Styles】moved like countless dragons and as it spread out its Sword Qi, it set up a defensive grid line that was nigh impenetrable.
On the other side, the black robe was also a type of powerful soul weapon possessed by Xiao Yin, crafted over an entire life’s worth of effort.
It flew in the air erratically and without pattern, landing on Xiao Yin’s shoulder intermittently to protect him, allowing him to jump into the【Sword Sixty-Four Styles】or even cover the Sword Qi in it before melting them into ashes.
Then, another Qi Practitioner shook the huge ray net in the air, launching Sword Qi in the form of strings that shattered everything in its path.
Shui Zian could go up against any one of them without fear, but under their combined power, in addition to the powerful soul weapons, Shui Zian was experiencing tremendous pressure under such circumstances.
Fortunately, the three of them were quite attached to their lives and wellbeing and so they opted to gradually exhaust Shui Zian’s energy and stamina first, allowing the damage from his previous injuries to gradually reap his life. This would spare them the risk of directly killing him so as to ensure their safety.
But now, with his energy and stamina fully depleted, it was time for them to kill him!
“Shui Zian, die!”
The three of them jumped up and Xiao Yin wore the black robe back and he waved his hands as he charged into the 【Sword Sixty-Four Styles】. As he waved his hands, the sleeves of the robe became bigger and rounder before absorbing the Sword Qis into the sleeves.
As Shui Zian wanted to detonate the Sword Qis being absorbed into Xiao Yin’s sleeves, Xiao Qin and Xiao Yuan shouted, forming their Yuan Shen, the coiling Aos. They roared and emitted tremendous sound waves that shot towards Shui Zian!
【Celestial Moon Howling Art】!
Shui Zian got hit and he was knocked backward, coughing out blood immediately as the strong water current under his legs stopped flowing and dropped onto the ground. Before he had yet to recover his balance, Xiao Yin neutralized Shui Zian’s Sword Qi and quickly closed the distance with him and pressed his palms onto his chest.
Boom——
Shui Zian’s chest immediately sunk and his rib cage broke. At the same time, the mirror soul weapon in Xiao Yuan’s hands launched out Sword Qis that breached the defensive grid line of the 【Sixty-Four Sword Style】and shot towards Shui Zian!
At Shui Zian’s back, the River God, He Bo appeared and formed layers of water lotuses that protectively surrounded Shui Zian while He Bo waved his arms, fending off the Xiao Yuan’s Sword Qi.
Xiao Yuan roared and she got close to He Bo, turning into a huge Ao before she opening her jaws and biting towards He Bo and the water lotuses.
He Bo reached out his hands and the water lotuses flew into his hands with Shui Zian in it as He Bo quickly back off. However, as soon as He Bo backed off, the huge net in the sky appeared again and trapped He Bo along with the water lotuses in it. Then, one after another, light rays shot out from the net and perforated the He Bo Yuan Shen!
Hu——
The water lotuses expanded quickly and they broke open the net while He Bo carried Shui Zian in his hands as they rushed out from the huge net. Then, the huge Ao that Xiao Yuan became rammed into He Bo and almost caused He Bo to disperse while inflicting even more serious injuries to Shui Zian.
Xiao Yin removed his black robe and he threw it towards He Bo and Shui Zian, covering them in the shadow of the black robe.
As the He Bo Yuan Shen touched the ground, and upon seeing no hopes of escaping the coverage of the huge net, he turned into water that gushed towards the surroundings while hiding Shui Zian under the water.
“Trying to escape?”
Xiao Qing summoned back her huge net and she spread it out in all directions while Xiao Que and Xiao Yuan guarded the two ends of the safe passage while waiting for Shui Zian to reveal himself.
Suddenly, the huge ray net lit up and blue-colored rays shot out and hit one lotus, causing it to expand. This in turn, opened up a hole in the net out of which water continually gushed out.
“Not trying to escape from the safe passage?”
The three of them were slightly stunned as they knew that the direction Shui Zian was running towards was the path back into the Divine Battlefield!
“With those heavy injuries, he is dead for sure. Should we still continue our pursuit?”
Xiao Qing retracted her huge net and she said with a frown, “The Divine Battlefield has only one safe passage out. Every other passage would lead only to a dead end with no chance for survival. Even with the three of us, we would only be able to guarantee our own safety if we entered … he is dead for sure.”
Xiao Yuan then said, “Dangers lurk all over the Divine Battlefield and even during his prime, he would die to the dangers if he entered the other passages. This is not to mention that he is on the cusp of death right now! There is no need for us to take the risk!”
Xiao Yin nodded and replied, “That’s right. We could only ensure our own lives even if we entered the other passages in Divine Battlefield together. He’s just one man who is on his last legs before his fires of life are completely extinguished.”
At the same time, a voice could be heard saying, “My three dear priests, Shui Zian is a wise and careful man. It is hard to be at ease if we do not see his body.”
A slender shadow could then be seen emerging from the ground before splitting into three heads.
It was the god messenger in the Swords Gate.
He had kept his presence scarce and did not reveal himself at all up until now.
“How could we be relieved if we do not see the body of Shui Zian for ourselves? It is only safe after we saw him dead with our own eyes. If Shui Zian walked out from here alive, all our efforts will in vain.”
The body of the god messenger was faint and blurry, making it difficult to see his face as he continued, “Besides, there are many tokens on him and these are a precious wealth as behind each token stands a strong individual from different races. These tokens could redeem a promise from each of them. If these tokens are in our hands….”
The three Qi Practitioners looked at each other and Xiao Yin inhaled a long breath before saying, “Alright! We will enter the Divine Battlefield together and with that, we would be able to deal with any threat if we teamed up together!”
The three of them then started chasing after Shui Zian and they entered the Divine Battlefield.
At the same time, Shui Zian ran on the swamps as fast as he could along with his weathered Yuan Shen in the Divine Battlefield.
Pu tong——-
The old man fell into the swamp and he tried to get up but to no avail as he had no more energy and stamina. When he look behind, he saw Xiao Yin, Xiao Qing and Xiao Yuan running towards him but he just couldn’t bring himself to get up anymore.
That should be the direction of Swords Gate….
He struggled to sit up and he faced towards the direction of Swords Gate with a calm expression while blood gushed out from his mouth and his eyes started to darken.
As he struggled, he saw some hallucination and he said to himself, The footsteps of our ancestors that traced back into the Great Wilderness… I think I have seen the back of the ancestors….
Suddenly, colorful divine lights appeared, within the radiance was a blazing sun and moon. Both appeared to be pierced by something and a muscular young man could be seen jumping out from the light. The young man walked towards Shui Zian while he traveled on the swamp.
Zhong Yue….
Shui Zian had a shock and he fell back down again after trying to get up and he said angrily, “Why did you come out! Get back in the secret realm! Go! Arghh!”
He then coughed out blood and he tried to make an angry expression but his eyelids were getting heavier and heavier.
Zhong Yue then walked towards him and the next thing Shui Zian knew was that he was on the back of Zhong Yue as Zhong Yue carried him away from the scene.
“Xin Huo, could you be reliable for just one time?” asked Zhong Yue to the little flame guy in his psyche ocean.
“Stop wasting your energy, my life force has depleted completely….”
Shui Zian coughed and murmured, “They have completely destroyed my life force and shattered any hopes of me surviving. Just put me down….’
In Zhong Yue’s psyche ocean, Xin Huo nervously and carefully sensed and guided Zhong Yue to get past the dangers lurking around the Divine Battlefield through the eyes of Zhong Yue. At this time, this little flame dude was also very nervous and he said, “There are too many spells left behind by that great battle, it is very difficult to walk out of here… Don’t worry, I will not make any mistake this time, there will be no mistake, let me think for another moment….”
“Don’t drag yourself into this for a person whose death is all but certain. It is not worth it, just put me down….”
“Little brat, this is your token, I want you to take it back and put me down now to run for your life….”
“Brat Yue, the pursuers are near,” reminded Xin Huo.
At their backs, the three pursuers were drawing close and they were suddenly blocked by a remaining spell. Then, they continued their pursuit after they worked together to destroy that spell.
“Put me down right now! If you don’t put me down, you are the traitor of all humanity….” said Shui Zian as he coughed out even more blood which dripped down the nape of Zhong Yue’s neck.
Zhong Yue remained silent as he tried his best to continue his advancement, carrying the old man behind him into the deepest part of the Divine Battlefield.
“Put me down….” the old man on his back continued saying but before long, those pleading whimpers turned to silence as the old man eventually drew his final breath.
Zhong Yue however, continued walking and he shook his head to shake away the tears on his face while at their back, the three pursuers gotten even closer as they worked together to overcome the obstacles.
“Brat Yue….”
Xin Huo hesitated and he finally said, “Put him down….”
Zhong Yue continued to walk forward and without any option, Xin Huo could only try his best to guide Zhong Yue to search for another safe passage from the seemingly infinite lethal traps. After another moment, Xin Huo said again, “Put him down… He is not breathing anymore and it is difficult for us to escape from here if you carried him on your back….”
At the back of Zhong Yue, the old man’s body grew colder as he had stopped breathing and his heart had stopped beating long ago.
Zhong Yue shook his head, looked forward and he saw a lonely island in the middle of the swampy area in the Divine Battlefield that had yet to be destroyed by the chaotic spells left behind.
“Xin Huo, bring me there.”
Zhong Yue said with a sore voice, “I want to bury him there and let him sit in his grave, facing towards the direction of Swords Gate and the direction of the path out of the Divine Battlefield that was trodden by our ancestors….”
