Yun Bilu tensed up when she met Huang Yize’s eyes. His clear gaze simply captivated her and took her breath away.
She wanted to dig a hole for herself to hide in, but there was nothing she could do about it, so she walked around the car and sat on the front passenger seat.
Her gaze and mind were out of focus as she remained in a trance. She felt like she was in a dream.
While Huang Yize focused on driving, the car alarm rang constantly. Yun Bilu apparently didn’t fasten her seatbelt.
He gave her a sidelong glance before speaking blandly, “Seatbelt.”
“Oh,” Yun Bilu said as she frantically bent down to fasten her seatbelt. When she turned to the side to insert the buckle into its slot, her head was almost leaning against Huang Yize’s shoulder.
Huang Yize looked at Yun Bilu’s clumsy actions. While holding the steering wheel with one hand, he grabbed Yun Bilu’s seatbelt with his other hand and said, “Let me do it!” As soon as he was done speaking, the buckle latched with a click—it was all done very quickly.
Yun Bilu, who was slightly embarrassed, snapped her head up and hit Huang Yize’s chin with the top of her head. She heard the sound of bones knocking into each other and quickly rubbed Huang Yize’s chin. “Ah! It was an accident. Does it hurt? I swear I didn’t do it on purpose.”
While Yun Bilu was touching Huang Yize’s chin, she accidentally slid her fingers across his lips. The touch from his warm lips made her feel as though an electric shock shot through her. She took her hands off right away, her heart pumping wildly.
She quickly turned to look out the window and pretended that nothing happened. In fact, her heart was in a mess, and to conceal this, she coughed a few times.
The car ride was exceptionally quiet, with only the sound of their breathing filling the space. Huang Yize pressed a few buttons, and melodious music filled the car instantly, improving the mood in the car.
Listening to the music calmed Yun Bilu’s heart down as well. When her brain had recovered and started working once again, she turned to Huang Yize. Her eyes shone radiantly as she asked in a surprise voice, “Huang Yize, when did you come back? Didn’t you say you’ll be back after half a month? Why are you back so early?”
“Think that I came back too early?”
Yun Bilu couldn’t tell if he was happy or angry from his tone, so she pouted as she replied, “No way. You obviously know that I was looking forward to your return.”
Huang Yize stopped the car all of a sudden and turned to her. His thin lips opened as he said, “Yun Bilu, when I wasn’t around, why didn’t you go back to the dorm that night? And why were you at the White House today? If I didn’t come and pick you up, you would still be waiting for a cab. What’s wrong with you? Can’t you use your cell phone to call for a cab or for someone to pick you up?”
Yun Bilu could feel the anger in Huang Yize’s voice. She lowered her head and hunched down before sticking out her tongue. She explained, “Well… My elder sister’s best friend needed some help from me, so as an honorable person, how could I just sit there and do nothing? That’s why…” Yun Bilu stared at her fingers as she played with them, not knowing how to explain herself to him.
“Don’t change the topic. Are you stupid? Can you really help her by sitting there the whole day?” In his rage, Huang Yize really wanted to open up her head to see what she was thinking.
“Huang Yize, don’t think that you can call me stupid just because I like you. My elder sister and brother-in-law both said that I’m very smart.” What Yun Bilu didn’t know was that women who were in love tend to have decreased intelligence, especially in front of their significant other.
“Okay. Since you’re so smart, don’t tell me that this is your way of helping!” Huang Yize said in a resigned voice, flicking Yun Bilu’s forehead with his finger.
