1016 If We’re Strong Enough, No One Can Make Things Difficult
Zi Yi told them about the response they received from the King of Country A.
Everyone finally felt relieved.
Elder Dou sighed. “As the saying goes, knowledge is power. If Little Lu and Little Yi were insignificant people, Country A would never have let them off.”
Everyone felt exactly the same way.
Dou Yue’er said, “I have to study hard too and become as capable as Cousin Yiyi.”
Fourth Madam smiled and said, “Let’s hope it isn’t just pure talk. Yiyi took over ten subjects when she was at school. I won’t ask much of you. When you start at Metropolis University, just take three to four subjects.”
“Huh? So many subjects?”
Everyone burst out laughing when they saw the startled look on Dou Yue’er’s face.
Zi Yi asked, “Is Cousin Yue’er starting school soon?”
“Uh huh. I’m reporting to school tomorrow. I’m attending military training starting from 1st September.” Dou Yue’er asked, “Cousin Yiyi, are you going to school next term? I really want to be schoolmates with you.”
Zi Yi looked at her and replied, “Even if I don’t attend school, we’re still schoolmates.”
Dou Yue’er chuckled. “That’s not the same. I want to brag about it while we are both attending university. Ow! Mom, why did you hit me?”
Dou Yue’er looked at Fourth Madam indignantly.
Fourth Madam laughed coldly. “If I were you, I would keep a low profile. If you brag about Yiyi being your cousin, people will ask you how many subjects you’re taking, what you’re good at, or if you know how to make spaceships.”
With every word, Dou Yue’er shrank her neck a little.
In the end, she said fearfully, “Mom, just stop. I’ve made up my mind. Once university starts, I won’t brag about my cousin. Also, I won’t even tell people I’m from the Dou family. I’m just going to quietly study.”
“Pft!”
The people around her could not resist laughing.
Dou Zerui said, “When we first got into university, we kept a low profile. If you can get a high profile through your abilities, we’re more than happy for you.”
The moment she heard what he said, a determined look emerged on Dou Yue’er’s face. She said, “I’ll be sure to make myself famous through my abilities.”
They bantered for some time. However, even after lunch, Dou Yurui did not come home, so Zi Yi could only leave.
…
By the time Lu Jingye had free time, it was already September.
He had promised Zi Yi that they could move back to her villa near Metropolis University for a few days after the banquet, but he was unable to keep his word.
Zi Yi had been staying home spending time with the babies and relaxing.
When Lu Jingye finally had more time, Lu Yunxiao went back to the aviation research base.
Owen was recuperating at the hospital and he could finally get out of the bed.
He promptly wanted to see Dou Yurui and apologize.
Dou Yurui was at work and the moment she caught wind of this, she felt angry. “I don’t have time for his apology. If anything, I just want him to never appear in front of me again.”
Before long, Lu Jingye told Shao Hua about the matter as well.
The two of them sat on the couch in the CEO’s office. Lu Jingye said, “Regardless of Owen’s apology, he was in the wrong. You two can decide if you want to accept it.”
Shao Hua was surprised by Owen’s apology. He had a feeling it was some kind of conspiracy. He adjusted his glasses and said, “I thought about it. The guy’s a prince. When he let go of Yurui, he must have already plotted something. He must have taken Yurui to threaten the two of you.”
“Uh huh,” replied Lu Jingye. It was one of his first guesses as well.
Shao Hua then said, “Owen must have apologized at the orders of his father. They still want to work with you. If the situation puts you in a tight spot, Yurui and I will do whatever you prefer.”
Lu Jingye patted his shoulder and said, “This is nothing. As long as we are strong enough, no one can make things difficult for us.”
Shao Hua promptly felt moved and nodded. “I know what to do.”
He stood up and said, “Can I take two hours’ time off this afternoon?”
“You can have the entire afternoon off.” Lu Jingye also stood up and said, “You can officially visit the Dou family.”
Ever since the incident, Shao Hua was overwhelmed with work. He did not have the chance to visit the Dou family yet.
Shao Hua nodded. “Thanks.”
He turned around and left.
After the door closed, Lu Jingye sat for some time before he called Zi Yi.
Zi Yi was at Metropolis University doing experiments and was not expecting the call. “Ah Jing, why are you calling me at this hour? Do you miss me or something?”
Lu Jingye smiled and said, “Uh huh. I’ll come to find you later.”
“Don’t you have to work?” Zi Yi spoke in a leisurely tone and clearly sounded in a good mood.
“I want to hang out with you this afternoon.”
“Okay then. I’m almost done with my experiment. Why don’t we hang out around the school? I need to report to admin anyway.”
Zi Yi had yet to graduate from Metropolis University, so she had to report to school.
“Sure thing.”
After hanging up the phone, Zi Yi finished her work. Not before long, Lu Jingye arrived.
Zi Yi looked at his suit and pulled him upstairs. As she walked, she said, “Get changed first. Your suit looks too serious for the campus.”
Lu Jingye let her pull him upstairs. He looked at the short-sleeved casuals she picked and took them. When he noticed the clothes she had selected for herself, he reached his hand out, took the shorts, and said, “Wear long pants.”
Zi Yi refused to do it. “Look at the weather. It’s too hot to wear long pants.”
She tried to snatch the shorts from him.
Lu Jingye threw the shorts on the clothes rack and held her by the waist looking at her sternly. “Long pants.”
Zi Yi hugged him by the neck and bumped his chin using her forehead. “It’s just a pair of shorts. You’re so old-fashioned.”
Lu Jingye pursed his lips as he carried her to the wardrobe and took out a pair of thin wide-legged pants. “These won’t make you feel hot.”
He had already decided to get rid of all her shorts later.
She must have bought those shorts online behind his back. In the past, he always handled her clothes. He knew she did not own something so short.
Zi Yi knew what he was thinking. She simply grinned. “I just bought one… two pairs of shorts. Don’t throw them out. I’ll just wear them at home for you to see, okay?”
The frown on Lu Jingye’s face finally smoothened out. He replied, “Okay.”
Zi Yi laughed out loud. She pulled him closer and kissed him on the lips.
As they made out, she said in a muffled tone, “I also bought a few skirts. I’ll only wear them in front of you as well.”
Lu Jingye pinched her waist and bit her gently on her lip. “Did you have nothing better to do?”
“No. I watched a lot of TV and I felt I should try more styles of clothes,” said Zi Yi as she smiled.
In a split second, Lu Jingye deepened his kiss.
By the time they left the property, Zi Yi was wearing long pants.
The weather was hot, but Zi Yi did not want to drive, so Lu Jingye opened an umbrella and held it over her head. He seemed worried she might get too much sun.
