Zhang Manhua stopped what she was doing and carefully observed the three children’s emotions. If they did not like it, then she would not continue doing it, but if they liked it, then it would naturally be the happiest thing for her.
“Grandma, is this yellow chick the one I raised in the past?”
An An raised his head, and the dazed look in his eyes made Zhang Manhua’s heart melt.
“That’s right. It’s that cute yellow chick An An used to raise. Does An An still remember its name?”
Zhang Manhua squatted down, almost as tall as An An.
“I remember. It’s called ‘Great King’.”
An An laughed, revealing his cute canine teeth. He looked at Zhang Manhua seriously. “Grandma, are you trying to make Great King?”
“That’s right. Grandma is making a Great King for An An. That way, An An will have many Great Kings in the future. Is An An happy?”
Zhang Manhua smiled gently and looked at the three children lovingly.
“As long as you guys like it and as long as you guys are fine, grandma’s thoughts will not go to waste.”
Zhang Manhua patted their heads one by one and continued, “You guys need not be successful in the future, but grandma just wants you guys to live happily.”
“Grandma, we are very happy and will continue to be happy in the future. Don’t worry; my two brothers won’t bully me.”
In Ran Ran’s worldview, happiness was being with her two brothers. No matter what it was, she had to have her share. It was that simple and easy to realize.
“Okay. Ran Ran is the happiest person in the world.”
Zhang Manhua’s hand stopped at the top of Ran Ran’s head. The little girl’s smooth hair was of good quality, and it could be seen that Pei Ge took great care of Ran Ran’s hair. The little girl’s skin was fair, and the heat from the heater in the kitchen and cooking soon dyed Ran Ran’s face pink, making her look very cute.
She looked just like the pink piglets on the table.
It was hard to look away.
“Ran Ran, you must always be the happiest person in the world. Grandma will always bless you and take care of you until you find a good man who treats you sincerely.”
Zhang Manhua touched the top of Ran Ran’s head and her tone was clear.
“No, grandma.”
Ran Ran shook her head in disagreement.
“I should be the one taking care of you. Mommy and daddy told me this.”
Ran Ran replied calmly like an adult.
“Okay, then Ran Ran will take care of grandma from now on.”
Zhang Manhua laughed aloud. She did not expect Pei Ge and Ji Ziming to pass on such thoughts to the three children. She also did not expect Ran Ran’s eyes to be filled with honesty and certainty.
This was a rare quality for children of this age, and it was precisely because of this that Zhang Manhua’s heart ached for Ran Ran the most.
Among the three children, only An An had been by Pei Ge’s side all the time. Since young, he had never made Pei Ge worry too much. Instead, it was this clever and adorable Ran Ran who had made Pei Ge’s tears dry from illness to recovery.
There was also little Ji Chi who left because of that accident but eventually reunited with them. Just as they were feeling surprised, they felt the barest heartache.
Others might not understand Pei Ge’s feelings, but as a mother, she knew the heart wrenching feeling of having to watch her family leave her and yet she could not save them. She could only watch them leave and walk further and further away from her.
Fortunately, everything was going well.
“Grandma, what’s inside this piggy?”
Ran Ran did not forget the reward Zhang Manhua promised her. Could the thing inside be hers…
Ran Ran did not dare to think or ask.
“This has the smell of fruit. Ran Ran, go smell it again.”
Zhang Manhua stood up and smiled as she picked up the dough from the table. As long as Ran Ran was willing to eat something, she would put it inside. It was all yellow fruit that Ran Ran liked to eat. She even put in some ‘secret ingredient’ that Ran Ran could not smell but could adjust the taste.
Yet, this ingredient is the most common thing in our lives.
“Grandma, I can’t smell it.”
Ran Ran tugged at her mouth, wanting to hear the answer from Zhang Manhua. However, she realized that her grandmother, who usually doted on her, was not so proactive to tell her what the yellow filling was.
However, it smelled nice and had a floral fragrance.
“Does Ran Ran want to know?”
Zhang Manhua purposely kept them in suspense but did not stop her actions.
There was still half an hour before dinner time. Other than Qu Xiujie who was looking in the direction of the kitchen with anticipation, Ji Ziming and Butler Charlie had cold expressions and were unwilling to say anything. It was as though two cold air conditioners were blowing at each other and Pei Ge, who was sitting at the side, could feel that the temperature in the living room was extremely low.
Qu Xiujie did not mind at all and looked at Ji Ziming with interest before looking at Butler Charlie. In the end, even Qu Xiujie could not hold it in anymore. “What are you guys doing? It’s so cold that I’m going to freeze to death.”
“You can turn on the air conditioner.”
Ji Ziming’s cold voice broke the long silence. As long as it was about Pei Ge, Ji Ziming would never compromise or give in. As long as he knew about it and was even present, he would not let anyone who wanted to take advantage of Pei Ge out of his sight.
“Ziming, it’s great if you can stop letting out cold air. I can also save some electricity for Ge Ge’s house.”
Qu Xiujie pouted and looked at Ji Ziming. “If you ask me, there’s nothing to talk about with this foreigner. Why are you still like this?”
“Uncle, just sit properly and wait for mom to call you for dinner.”
Ji Ziming did not think much of it and continued to maintain his posture. However, he had long let go of his guard against this Butler Charlie. The foreigner that Qu Xiujie spoke of could not pose a threat to him and he knew Pei Ge’s taste. Moreover, when he walked up to Butler Charlie, he already knew who this person was and where he had seen him before.
“Do you think I want it myself?”
