Once the children finally retreated to their room after dinner, Ji Ziming brought his pajamas to Pei Ge’s room.
The woman was lying in bed in her thin, camisole, engrossed in reading a book. When she heard the door opening, she spoke without even looking up. “You’re here.”
She knew that, after she had tortured him in the day, he would not let her off easily.
Indeed, he brooked no delay and came barely five minutes after her shower with his pajamas in tow.
“You knew that I’d come?” asked the man in a deep voice as he flung his pajamas onto the bed right at Pei Ge’s chest.
“You—mph!”
Since her chest was ‘assaulted’ by the pajamas, she looked up at the man, but before she could finish speaking, his lips captured hers.
While her lips were being ‘assaulted’, her pink camisole was lifted by him, and her chest was exposed.
“You’re really happy when I was painstakingly carrying our children today.”
His lips curled; she felt terrified of this evil smile of his.
“I didn’t; I merely saw how hard it had been on you.”
She hurriedly explained it, and although the truth was like what Ji Ziming had said, it did not mean that she would admit it.
“Oh? You thought it’s hard on me?”
His eyes narrowed as he looked dangerously at the woman being pinned down by him. Her arms were trapped by him, and she was exposed entirely to him.
“No, it wasn’t hard on you at all. They’re too heavy—right, they’re just too heavy.”
Looking at the man right before her eyes, she really did not know what excuse she should use to pacify him.
It seemed that, no matter how many reasons she got, it would not be enough to extinguish the flame of anger in his heart.
“Oh? You think it’s not hard on me now?”
As Ji Ziming’s voice dipped, it sounded especially charismatic.
“No, no.”
Pei Ge suddenly realized that she had fallen into his trap; she would be wrong no matter what she said.
After giving it a careful thought, she continued. “It wasn’t tough on you. You’re the strongest man in the world.”
Just as she finished saying that, his face lit up.
He suddenly turned on all the lights, and the room became especially warm in the night. Even the voices of the people in the room became hoarser.
“Then, I’ll let you experience the prowess of this man, who is the strongest in the world.”
His lips curled, and regardless of what she had to say, he did not intend to let her off tonight.
By the time they ended their session, it was late into the night. Pei Ge leaned on Ji Ziming’s chest weakly as she listened to his heartbeat. All these felt really real, so real that she had almost forgotten that Tang Xiaoyu was still missing.
“Hey, let me ask you something.”
She closed her eyes.
“Sure, go ahead.”
He placed his hand behind his head and another hand on the woman’s shoulder. Her skin was silky smooth.
“Have you not gotten any news on Xiaoyu’s whereabouts?”
“I haven’t,” replied the man calmly; his hand, which was caressing her arm, paused suddenly.
“How come? Are your men not putting effort in this at all?”
She lifted her head to look at him.
His subordinates were considered to be elites among elites, so how could they not have found Tang Xiaoyu’s whereabouts yet? If they were not putting in the effort, it would mean that the man was treating this matter lightly. However, she was more inclined to believe in the former.
“It can’t be. I know my subordinates well. Don’t worry; as long as there’s news. I’ll tell you right away. Don’t you trust me?”
His words were incisive, so she lowered her head and spoke no more.
He did not hear her response after a while and merely heard her snoring. It turned out that she had fallen asleep.
He turned off the lights and covered her naked body with a thick blanket while calculating the number of times she had been asking him about Tang Xiaoyu’s whereabouts for the past few days.
The next day, they were awakened by an urgent call from the bodyguards’ chief, who was in charge of protecting Qu Xiujie at the hospital. Since it was urgent, he called Ji Ziming right away.
“Sir, Mr. Qu was attacked last night.”
The bodyguard sounded composed. If Qu Xiujie were not playing games on the bed, he was afraid that he might not be able to keep his job.
“How is he now?”
Upon hearing that it was about Qu Xiujie, Ji Ziming became wide awake.
“Tell me clearly; how is he now?”
Pei Ge woke up too because of his actions and looked up at him with sleepy eyes. When she heard his strict voice, she suddenly understood everything.
“Please be rest assured. We’re here last night, so Mr. Qu fortunately did not suffer any injury.”
The bodyguard chief’s forehead was filled with beads of perspiration. He did not have much chance of interacting with Ji Ziming, but every time he did, he would be sweating profusely as though he would lose his soul.
This time around, Qu Xiujie picked up the newspaper and began reading aloud.
“He’s fine now, then?”
The man’s eyes narrowed as his arm rested alluringly on Pei Ge’s shoulder.
“Yes, sir.”
The bodyguard chief nodded, afraid that his boss might not understand his words.
“I got it. Is there anything else?”
Ji Ziming heaved a sigh of relief. If something happened to Qu Xiujie again, it would not be resolved easily. While he could see through that old lady’s tactics, hers were still better than his.
“Nothing else.”
With Qu Xiujie purposely reading the news aloud, the noise kept permeating the bodyguard chief’s ears.
“Mhm.”
The man hung up the call; his voice became gentle as he hugged the beauty in his arms.
“How’s it? Will anything happen to Mr. Qu?”
Pei Ge leaned on Ji Ziming’s chest, looking all sluggish.
