Alas, Pei Ge did not turn around despite her eyes being filled with pity for Ji Miao.
Standing beside her, Ji Ziming was observing her expression. He only spoke after everyone had brought his car. “What’s wrong? Is your heart-aching now?”
“If all these didn’t happen, she would perhaps be my most capable subordinate.”
Pei Ge had to admit that when she was interacting with the woman in the company, she felt that it was truly no easy feat for someone like her to become the HR Manager through her means in a short time. It was truly unexpected that the other would divulge company secrets for personal gain.
“This isn’t your fault. Everyone has the right to make their choices. Since she had made hers, she should take responsibility for it. It’s just that her luck is slightly worse. Still, it’s her honor to have you as her boss as you take great care of your employees.”
Looking at the man’s eyes, Pei Ge felt comforted.
“If it’s really her honor, she would tell me that she’s short of money. That way, she wouldn’t have been tricked by others.”
Her heart hurt for Ji Miao, but there was nothing she could do.
The most forgiving thing that she could do was not to strike the woman further when she was down.
“Alright, don’t think about it anymore. Let’s prepare to head back; if we don’t do so, our children will perhaps cry while waiting for us at home.”
He hugged her shoulders, his hand landing on her fair, tender skin. His eyes darkened and the blurry look in them deeply attracted the little woman in his embrace.
“Didn’t you say that the children are asleep?”
Pei Ge asked in alarm. When they were heading to H City earlier, he told her that the children were already asleep, but now he was telling her that they were waiting for her to go back.
“Silly, have you forgotten what day it is today?”
The man’s finger gently pinched her nose as he asked dotingly.
“What day? Is it some occasion?”
For a moment, she could not react. Had she forgotten an important occasion, or was today not the time yet to capture Ji Miao?
“I’ll tell you again when you recall.”
The man smiled, his lips curling upward subconsciously. The frosty aura around him slowly dissipated, too.
If it was Pei Ge and if only it was her, he was willing to use the gentlest way to be frank with her.
“If I recall it, why do I still need you to tell me?”
She mumbled while feeling dispirited. Before she could say more, her lips were locked in a passionate kiss by the man. All her words, even her gentle laughter, were cut off by him.
He only let her go once her lips got slightly swollen. This intensified her appeal in his eyes.
“Let’s go back. If you find the car to be too slow, we can take the plane.”
He smiled as he had gotten his way. She noticed that when he left with her, the bodyguard in black sat in the car that they were riding earlier. The train station regained its normal hustle and bustle as the crowd streamed out like a burst dam.
“How long are you intending to carry me?”
They entered the plane cabin with her hand still around his arm. His suit was crumpled by her action, but he was not affected by it; instead, he looked at her endearingly.
“Ah!”
Upon hearing his words, she quickly let go of his arm. She actually did not notice that she had been hugging his arm before they even reached the cabin.
“Sir, ma’am, do you need anything now?”
The air stewardess stood in front of Ji Ziming in her purple-blue uniform. Her slender figure seemed to be unable to bring the distinguishing features of her uniform.
“A glass of water will do.”
He did not lift his head and just smiled at Pei Ge, who was right in front of him. His voice sounded aloof and had a deterring aura.
When the air stewardess left, she asked, “Why isn’t this air stewardess the one before?”
“She was fired by me.”
Ji Ziming was nonchalant. When he saw the woman removing her hand, he turned to take a nap on the sofa.
“Ah? Why did you fire her?”
Pei Ge was baffled because firing might seem very easy in his eye, but he had no idea that a job represented a family and a family represented the lives of several people.
“Because she tried to seduce me.”
He opened his eyes and stared straight into hers. If she asked an irrelevant question again, he could not promise that he would not do her right on this sofa.
“…”
She quickly shut her mouth.
Good men should be like this. They should know how to stay away from women who were trying to seduce them. She was no longer even a bit upset that the air stewardess had gotten fired; instead, she was filled with sweetness.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” she asked. Pei Ge was with him all the time but did not hear him mention it even once.
Ji Ziming closed his eyes again as he spoke.
“There are so many women seducing me. Won’t you feel annoyed if I tell you each of them?”
The man made sense. If it were before, she would likely be very uptight about who those women were, but right now, they no longer mattered to her.
That was because he was Ji Ziming, the man whom nearly all women in the capital wanted to marry. Pei Ge was no longer upset when she met a few women who dared to seduce him openly. Instead, she was more curious on what their endings would be.
Seeing him closing his eyes, she continued to ask, “Why did you just ask for a glass of water; am I not drinking?”
“I ordered it for you. I’m not having it.”
He closed his eyes, the tiredness in them evident. If his work kept on coming without him getting any rest, he would probably be unable to settle Qu Jingwan’s matter tomorrow.
She stopped speaking to him. When the air stewardess served the glass of water, she finished it all at one go.
The air stewardess stood at one side. There was tender affection for the man in the corner of her eyes, but she dared not to look at him openly.
After all, the previous air stewardess’s no-good end was a reminder to everyone.
