In Ji Ziming’s perspective, there was nothing more heart-aching than facing a woman who resembled someone in their memory.
He had no idea if the person who he had mentioned was Qu Xiujie’s ex-lover, but he had great admiration for the latter by coming to his house just to see if Pei Ge and the woman truly looked alike.
Although Qu Xiujie used the excuse of offering him the clue, he still could not forgive him.
Just as the couple was sharing a moment of intimacy in their room, Qu Jingwan, who was hiding in the Ji Group’s washroom, called her grandmother again.
The phone rang for a long while before the elderly woman picked up. This was in order for her granddaughter’s dependence on her to decrease. She put her attention on the computer, while her assistant asked, “Madam, Miss Jingwan’s calling.”
“I know; let it ring for some time before picking up.”
She leaned against the chair and closed her eyes to rest them. The phone continued ringing until she finally picked it up.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Qu Jingwan did not sense the alienation in her voice.
“Grandma, have you settled that Ellie?”
She called her grandmother only because someone was obstructing her path, and she urgently needed the latter to remove this obstacle.
This time, however, the elderly woman was unwilling to help her.
“I neither settled her nor made a move.”
She finally understood why Qu Jingwan could not beat Pei Ge no matter what; it was because her granddaughter was not as intelligent as her opponent. When she was faced with a problem, she would only think of looking for her and rarely thought of solving the issue by herself.
“Grandma, why haven’t you made a move yet? Ellie warned me earlier that, if I don’t do my work properly, she will complain about me to Ji Ziming. How could a woman like her continue to stay in Ji Group? I’m after all the eldest daughter of Qu family—”
Before she could finish, Old Lady Qu interjected, “Don’t you know how to do your work properly?”
“Why are reprimanding me, too?”
She could not believe that her grandmother, who had doted on her since young, would refuse to help her for the sake of the Ji Group.
As the saying went, a married daughter was equivalent to splashed water. However, even before she was married, her grandmother could not wait to let her survive on her own in a big corporation.
“I’m not reprimanding you. I’m saying that you must think about it yourself. Do you think that he will kick you out of the family if I settle Ellie and push you into the role of general manager yet you’re unable to build connections or do your job well? That’s why, even if you’re unsure of something or if that superior mocks you, you must fight to impress her. Only by doing so will Ji Ziming look at you in a different light, and then the person beside him won’t be Pei Ge but you, silly girl.”
Even though the elderly woman said that she would not assist her granddaughter in settling Ellie, she still had that general manager’s background investigated thoroughly, only to find out that the woman had a deaf and dumb brother in the countryside.
Everything seemed to be much simpler now.
“Grandma, are you really unwilling to help me from now on?”
Qu Jingwan was relentless and wanted to hear her grandmother say it.
“It isn’t that I’m not helping you; I’m just hoping that you can grow up. When you are capable enough to compete with Pei Ge, you won’t be crushed by her at everything. One day, you will learn to face all your problems alone and use your solutions to every problem you encounter.”
Although the elderly woman made a lot of sense, her granddaughter was not listening.
As she was in a daze inside the washroom, she heard flushing coming from the next cubicle; hence, she hurriedly lowered her voice. “Grandma, forget it; if you, don’t want to help me settle her. I’ll get rid of her on my own.”
She hung up after saying that and left the cubicle. Standing in front of the huge mirror, she retouched her makeup. While holding her Yves Saint Laurent limited edition galaxy lipstick, she suddenly remembered that Ellie drove a white BMW.
At the thought of it, an evil smile broke on her lips.
Old Lady Qu sighed when the call was hung up.
With her granddaughter being like this, she would never win against Pei Ge no matter how hard she tried. Even if she triumphed over that woman and won over Ji Ziming, her path in the future would be much more difficult; rather, with Old Lady Qu’s capabilities alone, it was difficult to continue.
“Madam, why did you lie to your granddaughter when you’ve been troubling yourself over her matters?”
The assistant was displeased at the missy’s attitude toward her grandmother, but as an employee, she could not say much. She also did not know why her old madam was unwilling to tell Qu Jingwan all that she had done for her.

The elderly woman plotted everything, and she only needed to wait for thirty more minutes.
A show was secretly unfolding.
After leaving the washroom, Qu Jingwan took the elevator down to the underground carpark.
She recalled that Ellie drove a white BMW which was parked away from the CCTV.
She found someone in black to carry red paint. The person’s face was covered with black cloth. He walked past rows of luxurious cars and stopped in front of Ellie’s white BMW.
Paint splashed, and the white car instantly became red like fresh blood.
The security officer only ran over after the man had upturned a bucket of paint.
The security department of the Ji Group was impressive and caught the man in under five minutes. They removed the canvas cloth covering his face and realized that the perpetrator was another security officer in their department.
