“Be careful!” Bi Zheng, who was standing opposite of her, ran to her side like a gust of wind. Luckily, Qin Qitong did not fall but merely tripped, so she fell into his arms.
Pei Ge stood on the same spot, only managing to hold the chair.
“Are you all right?” he hurriedly asked. His face was filled with concern for her.
“I’m fine; don’t worry.”
She released herself from his arms and smiled at the couple apologetically. “I’m fine. Sorry for making you guys worry, too.”
“It’s good that you’re unhurt. If anything happens to you, your partner will likely…”
Pei Ge smiled and did not continue speaking, but it was clear what she wanted to say.
“He won’t.”
Qin Qitong waved her hands lightly, her gaze gentle. “Alright, you guys can leave first. We’ll leave after we take our coats.”
“Okay, we’ll leave first.”
Pei Ge nodded, eyeing Bi Zheng, who refused to let go off her friend, turned to look at the man holding her coat and handbag and smiled. “Let’s go.”
Ji Ziming nodded at the other man curtly, then held his woman as they exited the hotel. Right after they walked out of the room, he asked in a cold voice, “Were you looking at him just then?”
“Hm?”
She was flabbergasted. Was he going to look for trouble with the guy just because she looked at him then? He was about to get married to her friend, though. Just as she moved to speak, the man’s next words stopped her right in her tracks.
“It’s a good thing.”
He immediately walked ahead right after he said that. A few meters in front, he noticed that the woman had not followed him and could only turn to look at her, who was standing frozen on the same spot. “Are you planning to stand there and be a real-life Statue of Liberty?”
“What?”
The woman was stunned. She looked at him, then asked skeptically, “What did you say moments ago?”
“You wanna hear it again? Then, follow me. It’s already quite late, so it’s time for us to be home.”
His lips curled up. He had already finished all his work for the day. As for Tang Xiaoyu, she had left on her accord. It was not his woman or anyone else who forced her to leave.
Pei Ge finally started moving again, but she knew that it was not because she wanted to find something out but because it was truly already quite late. Zhang Manhua had already called once. Upon knowing that they were not going back for dinner, she asked them to come home as soon as they could.
She looked at the man lovingly after she settled in his Rolls-Royce, purposely putting on a fawning look as she asked in a sweet voice, “Ziming, what were you and Bi Zheng doing earlier?”
“You want to know?”
His lips curled up as he held the steering wheel with his large hands.
“Yes, can you tell me? What did you guys talk about?”
She forced herself to be patient, refusing to believe that he would truly keep mum about everything. If he refused to tell her anything, she considered chasing him out of the room tonight.
“Fine. I will tell you if you serve me well in bed later.”
His voice was enchanting and filled with smugness.
“What?”
She gawked at him incredulously. He actually dared to say that to her.
“What? Didn’t you hear me clearly? Then, I’ll repeat myself.”
His gaze darkened as he looked at the woman beside him, his voice tinged with craftiness. “How is it? Are you willing?”
“Willing, your head.”
She turned to face the window, not giving in to him.
Still, the ending was not this way.
By the time they returned home, the three children were already fast asleep while Zhang Manhua was on the phone in the living room. She hung up shortly after seeing them enter the house.
“Mom, why aren’t you asleep yet? Hurry up and go sleep.”
Pei Ge poured herself a glass of water at the coffee table while looking at her mother.
“I was waiting for you guys. How could I not worry when you’re bringing my grandson for treatment at the hospital starting tomorrow?”
She pushed up her spectacles, giving Ji Ziming, who had just walked in, a meaningful look. She then said in a soft voice, as though afraid of him hearing her,
“What do the two of you plan to do with my grandson?”
“We plan to have him do three days of treatment before flying back. After all, someone is still needed to handle the company there. My company also needs me.”
She smoothed her skirt with her left hand and sat beside her mother. “Mom, you don’t have to worry. I will rest easy as long as you are fine here in America.”
“How can an old lady like me feel at ease when you and that man are not doing well? You, lass, are already this old yet still making me worry.”
Her mother reached out her phone and gently poked her forehead, saying dotingly, “As long as you, Xiao Ji, and my three grandchildren are fine, I will be fine. It’s already quite late, so quickly go rest. I will also go to my room to sleep now.”
“Mom, are you and uncle fine?”
Pei Ge stopped her mother. The sincerity in her eyes made the latter smile.
“We are good, so be at ease. Just go and get busy with your things.”
She nodded, watching her mother return to her room in white pajamas. She could not help but recall the scene of when they had just come here many years ago. It was so tough and sorrowful back then. Luckily, they were all fine now and were living blissfully.
When she returned to her room, she immediately found the man naked waist-up. Water droplets dripped on his eight packs all the way to the bottom. Wrapped only in a white towel, he was sexier. This sight caused her to involuntarily gulp. She had always known that the man who had just come out of the shower was the most attractive to her. What she did not know was that he had calculated the time precisely and had only wrapped the white towel around his waist right before she came in.
“What? Are you dazed from the view?”
His lips curled up as he looked at the woman staring at him dazedly at the door. Her fair cheeks were dyed red, making her look delectable to him. Still, tonight would not be as simple as it seemed.
“I’m not. It’s just that it’s pricking my eyes with how you’re not wearing clothes.”
She turned her head away and closed the door, facing him with her back. She could feel her heart pounding. No matter how long they had been together, she still could not help feeling shy whenever she saw him like that.
Meanwhile, Ji Ziming also liked to see her this shy.
“So are you blaming me for not wearing clothes?”
