“Regi—no, Pei Ge. It’s been a while.”
Pei Ge regarded the woman in a body-hugging business suit, who was standing in front of her and raised a brow; her eyes then flashed coldly.
How unexpected for cousin to come looking for me this fast, and here I thought that the company’s trouble is enough to keep her busy for a while.
“It has truly been a while.”
Her lips formed a slight smile as she looked at her cousin, but the smile did not reach her eyes.
The latter had apparently come prepared, for she was actually prepared to camp outside her company to wait for her, making her wonder what the woman was here to talk about.
“Why? Aren’t you going to invite me inside to reminisce about the past? After all, we haven’t seen each other in a long time.”
“Hur! What is there for us to reminisce about?” She smirked coldly but still let Pei Shishi enter her office.
Inside, her cousin raised an eyebrow as she surveyed the room. “Shouldn’t you renovate your office a little? This is a bit too plain-looking.”
“We can’t compare to Pei Family Real Estate’s opulence, after all.”
She chuckled derisively.
“That’s true. After all, you are a mere employee working for someone.”
Her nonchalance attracted Pei Shishi’s sneer and ridicule.
What the latter hated the most was the former’s nonchalant and carefree attitude.
The other ignored her words and merely looked lightly at her.
“To be honest, after you disappeared five years ago, I thought that you’d never return.” She took a seat on the sofa and stared right back at her. “Why are you back this time?”
The other woman gave her a deep look. “If I say that I’m back for your company, will you believe me?”
She felt as though her heart had been struck when she heard this. Faced with this woman’s predatory gaze, she felt fearful and oppressed.
“W-What do you mean?”
“Ha ha. I was just joking with you. I only came back because they pay me well.”
The other retracted her strong and imposing aura and casually sat back in her swivel chair while regarding her with a light smile.
It was as though what she had said then was truly merely a joke.

Her casual smile made Pei Shishi feel relief inside.
Taking a deep breath, she returned a smile and finally spoke of her motive this time.
“What happened back then had nothing to do with me. It’s all my father’s doing. I’m representing my father here to apologize to you.”
Although it was claimed to be an apology, there were no signs of remorse on her face. Rather, she maintained an act of superiority.
It could be seen that she, who now held the executive seat at Pei Family Real Estate, looked down on the other woman, who was merely an employee hired from overseas.
