Looking down at the hustle and bustle on the streets through her floor-to-ceiling windows, Pei Ge felt an inexplicable sense of exhilaration.
Father, I will soon get your company back.
I will let your brother’s family have a taste of the pain we went through just like how they took everything from us!
She returned to her desk with this thought, feeling reinvigorated.
Still, not long after, someone’s call sapped her newly gathered vigor.
“It’s time to get off work. I’m at your company entrance.”
She creased her forehead upon hearing this familiar, cold voice.
“I’m not returning home early today.”
Without needing to think, she easily guessed that the caller was Ji Ziming.
Cough, cough, cough! Frankly speaking, without needing to pick up this call, she already knew that only this annoying fellow would be calling her at this time.
“Working overtime?”
“That’s right,” she replied evenly.
“I’m really busy today as there’s lots of stuff to settle at work. I’ll be back late tonight, so I’ll have you look after the kids for now.”
She did not realize then that she sounded like the man’s wife the way she spoke to him about caring for the children.
Unexpectedly, though, this usually obedient man refused her request.
Instead…
“Ji Ziming?”
She stared wide-eyed at the man who had suddenly appeared in her office.
“Didn’t I ask you to return home first and take care of the children?”
These ambiguous words slipped out of her mouth just like this.
The assistant who was stopping the man from coming in quickly retreated and left the two of them alone in her office.
The assistant, there and then, promised inwardly never to bar the man from entering the CFO’s office again!
“Yes, but I think that you need my help more.”
As he said that, he sat down with a smile.
“What?”
She was confused when she heard his words.
“Pei Family Real Estate must be your doing, right?”
Although it was a question, the man sounded certain.
“That’s right; why? Are you trying to stop me?” She lifted a brow and scoffed.
The man froze at the woman’s act of guarding against him before saying, “From what I know, your shares can never exceed Pei Shishi’s forty-five percent the way things are now.”
“Of course, I know that. No need for you to remind me.”
Pei Ge pursed her lips tighter, knowing that the man was clear about the situation.
Still, why is he so sure about that?
I’ve only just learned my cousin has over forty percent shares recently, yet this man… knows it clearly…
“I can help you. I have some Pei Family Real Estate shares. If you need them, I can give them to you.”
He smiled at her gently.
“Give them to me? Are there any conditions that come with it?”
She smirked, not daring to accept his offer.
“You’re my wife. What’s mine is yours.”
He propped his arms on her desk as he bent forward to gaze at her intently.
“Whatever it is that you want, I’ll give it to you without needing your request.”
