Noon.
Outside of Fen Zhou Military base.
Xu Yan and most leaders would follow the rules and regulations when faced with a problem. But Dong Xuebing does not. He never follows the rules and is unpredictable. That’s why he dares to place the gun muzzle against his head. His actions had stunned the guards.
They had never met anyone like Dong Xuebing.
Both the guards do not know what to do next.
Dong Xuebing stood there with one hand in his pocket and the other holding the muzzle. He took another step forward. “Are you a pussy? Why are you not shooting at me?”
The guard was furious. “You!”
Dong Xuebing sneered. “Me? What about me? Just open fire!”
“Xiao Dong! That’s enough. Get back here!” Xu Yan was afraid the gun might misfire.
Dong Xuebing said to Xu Yan. “Sister Xu, we don’t need to be afraid of these people. The more you fear them, the more they will take advantage of you. These two were so fierce earlier and threatened to shoot us. Look at them now. They don’t even dare to touch the trigger. They only dare to bully those weaker than them. They think they can do whatever they want because they carry guns. You two were still playing with mud when I had gunfights with criminals. All you know is to shoot paper targets. Have you all shot anyone in your life?” He was shot at and killed many criminals. This was not something these soldiers could compare to.
Xu Yan shouted. “Put down your guns!”
The guard continued to point his gun at Dong Xuebing.
Xu Yan was furious. She stepped forward and pushed the muzzle up. Before the guard could react, she grabbed his arm, twisted it, and pinned him onto the ground.
The other guard shouted angrily. “What are you trying to do?”
Xu Yan did not reply to that guard. She pushed him and knocked him off his feet.
Dong Xuebing was amused. He had experienced Xu Yan’s combat skills and was no match for her if he did not use STOP and BACK, let alone these two inexperienced guards. She can even fight two more guards like them by herself.
Suddenly, a vehicle drove towards them.
A few moments later, a military jeep pulled up beside them, and five soldiers with guns jumped out. “What happened?”
The guard quickly got back on his feet. “Sir! Someone is trying to barge into our military base!”
The officer looked at Dong Xuebing and Xu Yan. “Is it them?”
Dong Xuebing laughed. “Stop pretending. Did you graduate from an acting school? Don’t pretend you don’t know what is happening.” He was getting more sarcastic.
Xu Yan chided. “Enough, Xiao Dong.”
Dong Xuebing listened to Xu Yan and did not continue.
The guard replied angrily. “It’s them!”
All the soldiers looked at Dong Xuebing with anger.
Xu Yan threw her work pass at the officer. “My son is detained by you all. Get your Top officer here, or let us in!”
The officer looked at Xu Yan’s work pass. “Oh, it’s Chief Xu.” He paused for a second. “Please wait for a minute while I report this.”
The officer returned from the jeep after a few minutes.
Dong Xuebing and Xu Yan looked at him, waiting for him to say something.
The officer said. “My leader says you can enter with me.”
“Lead the way!” Xu Yan said and returned to her Audi.
Dong Xuebing followed Xu Yan to her car.
The officer had hinted that only Xu Yan was allowed to enter. He hesitated for a second but did not say anything. They do not know who Dong Xuebing is, as the military and local government have little interaction. The officer only assumes Dong Xuebing is Xu Yan’s subordinate.
The military jeep leads the way, and the Audi follows closely behind.
They reached the military headquarters building a few minutes later.
The officer points to a building that looks like a command center. “This way, please.”
Xu Yan entered the building without thinking, and Dong Xuebing followed behind. He did not say anything on the way here; he was just here to help her.
Around seven to eight people were inside the room.
Xu Yan immediately recognized one person. “Political Commissar Liu.”
That middle-aged man nodded. “Chief Xu. We have not met for some time.”
Dong Xuebing does not know anyone and does not say anything.
The people in the room glanced at Dong Xuebing and thought he was Xu Yan’s staff.
Xu Yan looked around. “Where is Commander Liu? Is he avoiding me?”
Political Commissar Liu replied. “Commander Liu is not back from the hospital. Chief Xu, I asked around after you called me. Our men had detained a few kids, but it was because they had trespassed into our restricted zone. We had to interrogate them as part of our protocol. I heard one of them is your son. I hope you can understand.”
Xu Yan coldly replied. “I don’t understand.”
Political Commissar Liu frowned.
Xu Yan looked at Political Commissar Liu. “Stop beating around the bush, and don’t tell me you don’t know what is happening. I am a straightforward person. Your soldiers forced my son to run into the restricted zone. If you did not send your soldiers to catch my son, why would my son enter the restricted zone? So, stop using this excuse. I can apologize and make my son and his classmates apologize to Commander Liu’s son for what happened. My son will never deny it, and I am willing to compensate him. I had visited him earlier and paid the hospital bills. But you all had gone overboard by detaining my son with guns and even hitting them.”
Political Commissar Liu replied. “I don’t know about our soldiers hitting your son. He might get hurt during the arrest process. After all, they had trespassed into the military restrict zone and tried to run from our soldiers.”
Xu Yan retorted. “Political Commissar Liu, what’s the point of saying these?”
Political Commissar Liu got impatient. “I am not lying, and this is the truth. I promise we have not detained those kids for other reasons. Chief Xu, you should know the seriousness of entering a military-restricted area.”
There’s no point continuing talking.
Xu Yan was here to settle this issue. She had given in and is willing to apologize and compensate. But the other party did not seem interested in settling their differences. Even Commander Liu Guowei did not appear. Where’s the sincerity?
Xu Yan asked. “Where is my son now?”
Political Commissar Liu paused for a few seconds and said. “He is in the next room. Don’t worry. We will release them once our investigation is over.”
Xu Yan coldly replied. “How can I not worry when I did not see my son?”
“We are questioning those children and cannot allow you all to meet.” Political Commissar Liu replied.
Xu Yan controlled her anger. “The State Security and the military’s responsibilities are quite similar. Both of us are keeping our country safe. But I am disappointed with you all. I know my son well, and you should have heard about my family. His father is also from the State Security. Do you think my son will get involved in any illegal activities? He is only eighteen and is attending High School. What harm can he do to the country?”
Political Commissar Liu replied. “I am not in charge of this. Why don’t you wait for Commander Liu to return? We are only following the protocol.”
Xu Yan got mad. “Protocol?! If you all are following the protocol, will the military be activated to catch them and hit them?”
Political Commissar Liu smacked his lips. “Please calm down, Chief Xu. We understand your feelings. But we cannot release them.”
“Then let me see my son first.”
“I need to seek Commander Liu’s permission.”
Xu Yan cannot be bothered to talk anymore. “I must bring my son back with me today!” She turned to Dong Xuebing. “Let’s go, Xiao Dong.”
Dong Xuebing quickly followed her.
Two soldiers stepped forward to block them. “Where are you going?”
“Chief Xu.” Political Commissar Liu barked. “We had made an exception to let you enter. You….”
Xu Yan looked at Political Commissar Liu. “I am bringing my son back today. Arrest me if you want.”
Dong Xuebing had never seen Sister Xu behaving this way. He knew she worried for her son’s safety and was angry now.
Political Commissar Liu was speechless and did not know what to do.
Xu Yan had stepped out of the room. “Chaochao! Chaochao! Where are you?”
A boy shouted from another room. “Mum! Save us! We are here!”
