Zhang Zian stopped his hands that were giving out food to the elfins.
When Zhang Zian returned to Binhai City to take over the pet store, he wasn’t sure of where to get kittens and puppies from, so he went to the north side of the city to Love Lovely Pet Breeding Base and did some inspections. He met Zhang Wanguo, who was very passionate and explained that the pets’ price was negotiable, but he refused to let Zhang Zian inspect the breeding grounds personally. Zhang Zian’s parents told him that if they refuse to let you see the breeding grounds, something fishy was going on. He left Love Lovely Pets immediately and went south to Pets’ Home, and it was there that he met Sun Xiaomeng.
He never crossed paths with Love Lovely Pets or Zhang Wanguo again. When he heard the rich woman mention the pet shop on her phone call, he couldn’t help but pause for a moment as he recalled his time there.
Zhang Zian went back to the outer room with the empty styrofoam cooler, pretending to tidy up while listening in on the woman’s conversation.
Lu Yiyun was back at her seat, waiting for the woman to pay. Snowy and Vivi were beside her, admiring her artwork.
“Lu Yiyun, what do you think about starting a live broadcast to stream yourself drawing?” Snowy suggested.
“No, I can’t do it!” Lu Yiyun’s face flushed red as she rejected the idea. “I can’t speak when I get nervous.”
“Don’t worry, I was nervous when I started out. You just need to get used to it!” Snowy tried to persuade her.
Lu Yiyun still didn’t like the idea, “Snowy, your broadcasts are interesting. No one would watch me draw, it’s boring.”
Vivi chimed in, “That’s not true. I’m very interested in the drawing process!”
The viewers of Snowy’s broadcast also joined in to encourage her.
The woman found them to be too noisy, but instead of heading outside to continue her call, she decided to talk louder out of spite, making it easier for Zhang Zian to listen in on the conversation.
“Love Lovely Pets? Why haven’t I heard of it before? Where are you guys located?” she asked loudly. Zhang Wanguo gave her the address and she replied, “So you’re saying that I can purchase a Teacup Puppy from you?”
Zhang Wanguo reassured her.
“Are you sure? Your location seems far away, I wouldn’t want to waste the trip.” The woman asked, still not believing him.
Zhang Wanguo told the lady to add him on Wechat, so he could send her a photo of the Teacup Puppy.
After looking at the picture, the woman believed him, but she remained suspicious. “How did you know that I wanted a Teacup Puppy? Who told you? Where did you get my number?”
Zhang Wanguo explained that because she left her number with a few other pet store owners he was friends with, he immediately gave her a call.
The woman was convinced and decided to make the trip. “Okay, I’ll make the trip. I haven’t had lunch yet and my dog has dislocated his back leg. I have to go to a vet to get it treated, but once I’m done with that, I’ll be on my way.” She threw a quick glance at the wailing dog in the box.
Zhang Wanguo was afraid of losing a big client if it took too long, so filled with anxiety, he said something that made her pause.
“What?” The lady’s eyes widened. “You can heal dislocated bones? You’ll treat my dog for free? Okay, I’ll head over after I eat.”
While he was dusting the shelf, Zhang Zian discreetly listened to the conversation. He was very doubtful of Zhang Wanguo, as breeding Teacup Puppies was very difficult, which was why they were so expensive. There are specialists overseas who are put in charge of breeding Teacup Puppies, it requires a degree of technical and theoretical knowledge. He’s never heard of a large scale pet breeding base having that service.
As for treating dislocated bones, Zhang Zian can do that. Sometimes when the animals play, they might occasionally dislocate something. However, he’d never treat someone else’s pets as he didn’t have the license to do so, and could get him into trouble. Even without taking that into consideration, a Teacup Puppy’s bones were fragile, if it wasn’t done by a professional, it could worsen the injury.
Zhang Zian could only sigh at how audacious Zhang Wanguo was being. Wasn’t he afraid of the consequences if something went wrong? Maybe Zhang Wanguo didn’t care about the law as long as he made money.
The woman hung up the phone and said, “Settle my bill, I have something I need to do.”
Lu Yiyun silently assisted the lady in paying her bill. She didn’t take the receipt Lu Yiyun offered. She just called out to her son, “Come with me! We’ll eat, then we’ll head down to another shop with lots of pets!”
The little boy sat on the floor, observing the cat goddess statue. After hearing his mother, he unwillingly followed her out of the pet store, into the Maserati.
The woman started the Maserati and, in the blink of an eye, disappeared down the street.
It was noon, so there were no customers in the store. Snowy and Vivi were still admiring Lu Yiyun’s artwork, occasionally bringing up the Teacup Puppy. After learning that the Teacup Puppy was a deformed dog, they all felt sorry for the poor thing. They had already dismissed the idea of having a Teacup Puppy when they found out that it was very fragile and usually died prematurely. They’ve heard of stories where people who owned a Teacup Puppy, ended up sitting on them.
It was at this moment that Wang Qian breathlessly ran into the store. “Master, it’s almost our turn!”
“Let’s go! You guys are hungry, right?” Zhang Zian said to Snowy. He moved everything about Love Lovely Pets and Zhang Wanguo to the back of his mind.
Snowy and Vivi were really hungry, and the viewers of the broadcast couldn’t wait any longer.
Zhang Zian brought them to Li’s Supreme Snack Bar for Cat Fanciers, where Li Kun was at the front of the line.
It’s only been awhile since they left, but the line was longer than it was before, filled with teenage girls and boys. They were all braving the cold in high spirits to get into the snack bar. When they saw Zhang Zian and company, who seemed like they were going to cut the line, they started shouting.
Snowy and Vivi took Wang Qian and Li Kun’s spot. Zhang Zian told Li Kun to return to the shop and look after things, and told those in line that he wasn’t going in to eat and that he won’t be taking their seats.
Just as Li Kun was about to head back to the shop, someone spoke out in surprise, “Aren’t you the person who got my bag back for me?”
Li Kun turned around and saw that it was the girl from that night, the one who had her bag snatched by bikers. She was standing at the end of the line with her boyfriend.
