With that, Mu Siyin and Shi Beiyu went downstairs to look for Uncle Zhong.
As soon as Uncle Zhong heard that Mu Siyin wanted to engrave the back of the jade by herself, he was shocked. “No way! This jade of yours is no ordinary jade. It is very hard. How can a little girl like you engrave it? Let’s just look for an engraver to do the job.”
Uncle Zhong was really afraid that Mu Siyin might break that good piece of jade. Then, it would be such a pity.
Shi Beiyu, however, said with a smug face. “I want her to engrave it.”
Uncle Zhong glared at him furiously. “You little brat! Do you know how precious this jade is? What if you ruin it on a whim?!”
Mu Siyin burst into laughter. “Don’t worry, Uncle Zhong. As long as you have the tool I want, it won’t break.”
Uncle Zhong shook his head hard. “No, no. I really don’t have it.”
Shi Beiyu raised his eyebrows and said, “If you don’t let us use it, I’ll take out all of your treasures and showcase all of them to everyone in an exhibition.”
At that, Uncle Zhong stomped his feet. “How dare you, you little brat?!”
Shi Beiyu snorted. “I’ll do it if you don’t let us use it.”
Uncle Zhong’s eyes widened as he said, “You! I’m just doing this for your own good. How can you bite the hand that feeds you?!”
Mu Siyin chuckled. “Uncle Zhong, you used the wrong phrase.”
Embarrassed, Uncle Zhong replied, “Ungrateful.”
Mu Siyin did not know whether to laugh or cry, but she said to Uncle Zhong, “I really can engrave it, Uncle Zhong. If you don’t trust me, give it to me, and I’ll show you how I engrave it.”
Uncle Zhong felt helpless. “Little Siyin, it’s only one word. Just let someone else engrave it, and it’ll be done in no time. How simple. Even if it’s broken, you can still ask for compensation.”
Shi Beiyu instantly replied, “I’ll call Yan Ze and ask him to take out all your treasures.”
Uncle Zhong became anxious as soon as he heard that. “No! Don’t! I’ll give it to you, alright?”
Mu Siyin snickered. ‘Uncle Zhong sure is funny.’
There was an old saying which went, ‘You live and learn.’
Although Uncle Zhong was old, he was an archeologist.
What was hidden in his study were all treasures.
Uncle Zhong reluctantly took out his engraving pen and handed it over to Mu Siyin with hesitation. “You have to think twice about it, Little Siyin.”
Mu Siyin chuckled. “Don’t worry, Uncle Zhong.”
She then switched on the light and had Shi Beiyu help her hold Uncle Zhong’s magnifying glass. She tested the power by engraving the word “Bei” on a useless piece of cheap and broken jade that she got from Uncle Zhong.
Looking at the graceful and elegant engraving, Shi Beiyu and Uncle Zhong both raised their eyebrows.
They could not believe that Mu Siyin knew how to engrave.
When Mu Siyin took over the jade and fixed it in place, Shi Beiyu suddenly asked, “Why did you engrave the word “Bei”?”
Mu Siyin paused.
However, Uncle Zhong answered, “Isn’t it obvious? Don’t we all call you Little Beibei because it’s much more intimate?”
Mu Siyin laughed and paused for a second as she looked at Shi Beiyu. Unexpectedly, she said, “It’s easy and simple to engrave.”
Uncle Zhong was speechless.
‘This lady is brutally honest!’
Shi Beiyu was at a loss for words. He was looking for a good explanation from Mu Siyin, but he never thought it was as simple as that.
The word “Bei” was indeed much easier to engrave than the word “Yu”.
When Mu Siyin looked at how speechless Shi Beiyu was, she blinked and added, “Besides, I like to call you Little Beibei too.”
Shi Beiyu burst into laughter. “Little liar. You like to call me uncle.”
