Uncle Zhong had been waiting for quite a while outside Shi Beiyu’s door, and when the latter came out, he let out a sigh of relief. The old man said helplessly, “I really didn’t want to interrupt you guys, but the She-Devil suddenly came unannounced. I didn’t have a choice.”
Shi Beiyu glanced at the man before he said faintly, “She’s just downstairs. She’d chop you up if she heard you.”
Uncle Zhong wrapped his hands around his neck in fear. “Little Beibei, you can’t betray me, okay? Hurry up and go downstairs. I can’t deal with her.”
Shi Beiyu knitted his brows slightly as he went downstairs. Mother Shi was sitting on the sofa with a dull face.
Noticing Shi Beiyu’s arrival, Mother Shi grunted softly. “Are you planning to cut ties with us over that little vixen?”
Shi Beiyu strode forward and sat next to her. He replied in a deep voice, “What makes you think so?”
Mother Shi instantly frowned as she retorted, “It’s one thing not to answer my phone, but another to ignore your Grandpa’s! You’ve never been like this before, Ah Yu!”
Shi Beiyu looked down and replied, “I was too busy. I didn’t hear my phone ring.”
Mother Shi held in her frustration and nodded her head. “Fine. You have your own excuse, but your Grandpa is celebrating his 80th birthday in two days. Aren’t you going to ask about it at all? What is he going to think?”
Shi Beiyu became annoyed. “Haven’t you always been the one organizing Grandpa’s birthdays? I have nothing to worry about.”
“You’re just sugar-coating things! You can’t think of anything else but that little vixen…”
“Mom!”
Shi Beiyu interrupted Mother Shi sternly before she could finish her sentence. “Watch what you say. She has a name.”
This drove Mother Shi mad!
“Fine, fine. None of us wish to see her at your Grandpa’s birthday, but you must be present.”
Upon saying so, Mother Shi got up and left.
Shi Beiyu laid against the sofa and took a few deep breaths.
After Mother Shi had left the building, Uncle Zhong came out of hiding. The old man squirmed as he ran ridiculously towards Shi Beiyu. Seeing how downcasted Shi Beiyu looked, the old man laughed, “Hehe. I told you, little Beibei. They would never come to terms with your relationship with the girl, but you won’t listen. Now, look at what has happened. Sigh. It’s going to be a tough road ahead for little Siyin.”
The light went out in Shi Beiyu’s eyes, and the warmth faded from his voice. “It’s my choice to date whoever I want. I’m the master of my own decisions!”
Upon saying so, he got up from the sofa and headed upstairs coldly.
Seeing this, Uncle Zhong plopped himself onto the same spot where Shi Beiyu sat earlier. Then, he imitated Shi Beiyu’s expression and tone sarcastically. “I’m the master of my own decisions! Hah!”
Shi Beiyu headed upstairs and pushed open the door. Mu Siyin was scrolling through her phone unhappily when she heard the noise and looked up at him. “Has your mother left?”
Shi Beiyu nodded his head. “Yeah.”
Mu Siyin turned off her phone and looked down. She whispered, “Did she come over on purpose because she found out I’m here?”
Shi Beiyu walked to her elegantly. As he looked down at her, his attractive yet gentle voice chimed, “She came here for something else.”
Mu Siyin was surprised with his answer, so she instantly lifted her head to look at him. “What is it about?”
Shi Beiyu hesitated for a second before he murmured, “My grandfather is celebrating his birthday… in a few days.”
Mu Siyin paused for a second, then casually said, “I see. So that’s what it was about.”
“Yeah.”
“Does she know that I’m here?”
Shi Beiyu pursed his lips. It was hard to read his expression. “Perhaps she does, and perhaps she doesn’t. But it doesn’t matter.”
Mu Siyin snorted. “It’s better if you said nothing.”
Shi Beiyu suddenly leaned forward towards her. Mu Siyin hurriedly tried to move away, but she was too late. In one swift move, she was pressed underneath his body once again…
