Chapter 274: The grace of a live once saved
“Un…..Big brother, thank you…..for protecting elder sister…..and me.” Chen Xue’s brows slightly curved as she spoke in a gentle and soft voice.
Her face was very pale, a scary shade of white, but her eyes were full of pure light just like her elder sister. She continued looking at Ye Tian Xie, as if she was firmly remembering his appearance. She continued to smile, a smile that even Chen Xin had never seen before…..One that had no pain or worries…..A happy smile that contained no struggles.
Faced with this young girls smile that seemed like a picture, Ye Tian Xie’s feelings couldn’t help turning soft. He sat down by the bed and as he wanted to talk to her, his expression suddenly changed…..In front of him, Chen Xue’s eyes were slowly closing. Her smile was the same as before, but her body was slowly falling down.
“Xue’er!” With Chen Xin’s terrified scream, Ye Tian Xie quickly went forward to support Chen Xue’s body, letting her fall onto his shoulder…..But she clearly could not hear her elder sister’s calls. She laid there on Ye Tian Xie’s body, not making a single sound.
Her body was very soft…..and very light, just like a ball of cotton, as if she had no bones at all. Touching her body, Ye Tian Xie could feel just how weak her body was…..It was truly weak. It was so weak that even a gentle breeze would be enough to make her frail body fall over.
“Xue’er! Xue’er….What’s wrong? Don’t scare elder sister, alright?”
As Chen Xin recovered from a large shock, she suffered another large shock. Every day, Chen Xue would spend most of her sleeping, but every time before she went to sleep, she would always say “elder sister, I’m tired…..”. This time, she had clearly fainted.
From the words Chen Xin normally said, Ye Tian Xie knew that she had a seriously ill little sister, but he could not feel any vitality coming from the girl attached to him which let him know just how serious this “serious illness” was. The weak signs of life shown were not enough to maintain a person’s life, it was like a little blade of grass on the verge of death.
“Chen Xin, don’t be anxious. We’ll leave this place first……Let’s go, we’ll go to China’s best hospital. You have to believe, Chen Xue will become better.”
Perhaps she was Ran Qing Cheng’s daughter, or perhaps it was because she had captured him with her eyes, but Ye Tian Xie’s heart began to fill with worry and panic. He found that he was afraid that this young girl he had just met would lose her life to this illness. He lifted her body……very, very gently, like a ball of cotton. He pulled Chen Xin with one hand and they walked out of the little room she had lived in for a long time.
“Po Jun, Qiu Shui, let’s go! We’re going to the best hospital!”
He held the unconscious Chen Xue in one hand and pulled Chen Xin with the other. He had his brows knit as he anxiously shouted out while impatiently moving quickly towards the helicopter. Zuo Po Jun saw the young girl in Ye Tian Xie’s embrace and quickly nodded, jumping into the helicopter with Murong Qiu Shui. Not long passed and the helicopter ascended, flying off into the distance.
When the helicopter had completely disappeared, several human figures slowly peaked out their heads…..Kidnapping, helicopters, and murder…..This calm slum area had greeted a terrifying day.
Not long passed, a black figure appeared on the roof of Chen Xin and Chen Xue’s little house. Looking over the scene, it raised a small communication device and whispered, “Send some people over, this place needs to be cleaned.”
“Po Jun, go faster.” Feeling that the life aura of the young girl in his chest was getting weaker, Ye Tian Xie’s inner anxiety became even stronger.
“Second brother….Be assured, we’ll be there soon.” Zuo Po Jun said with a head covered in sweat. Helicopters could not compare to the speed of jets or nuclear planes. Their current speed was already the limit. This kind of speed already made the hull began to tremble, as if it would shatter at any moment.
“Thank you, big brother Xie Tian.” Feeling that his anxiety was not weaker than her own, the feeling called gratitude once again filled her heart. Seeing him carefully hold Chen Xue, a kind of complicated indescribable feeling appeared. In the past, it had always been her that took care of her little sister, supporting her so called “home” and world. Today, the man in her dreams had appeared in reality and had given her something to rely on. How much gratitude she felt, only she knew this.
“Why do you need to thank me? Don’t forget, we are friends.” Ye Tian Xie said with a casual smile.
Ran Chen Xin forcefully nodded. She had an urge to go into his chest like her little sister and lean against him.
“Big brother Xie Tian, why are you here? Did you….get lost?” She finally asked the biggest question in her heart. All of this seemed like the heavens heart her prayers and sent the person she wished for the most to her, pulling her from the edge of disaster and her despair.
Why would I be here? Ye Tian Xie hugged the peaceful little girl in his chest a little tighter and said with a faint smile, “I can only say…..it was destiny that guided me here.”
“Destiny guiding you….” Ran Chen Xin softly repeated. Her eyes became blurry as her heart began to beat fast.
«Destiny» had allowed them to meet and allowing them to communicate. When she needed him the most, they had met in the real world. Everything seemed like it had been planned by the heavens.
“Chen Xin, you’re surnamed Ran, right?” Ye Tian Xie suddenly asked.
Ran Chen Xin was clearly stunned by this question. Then she gave a gentle nod and looked at him with a stunned look. She did not know why he knew her surname…..That surname, if possible, she never wanted to think of it again.
“How old are you this year? I think…..you should be eighteen or nineteen, right?” Ye Tian Xie stroked the hair of the young girl in his chest as he spoke to Chen Xin with a faint smile.
“I’m nineteen.” Ran Chen Xin carefully replied.
“Nineteen.” Ye Tian Xie slightly looked up, looking into the sky. It was like he was remembering something, “Do you still remember? I told you before that when I was five years old, there was a snowy day that was cold and I was hungry, so I fainted in the snow…..There was a lot of snow that day and I was in the snow for an entire day…..If it wasn’t for that snow sweeping uncle that saved me, perhaps I wouldn’t even be in this world today.”
“I remember. I remember everything that big brother Xie Tian has said to me.”
“Then do you still remember when you were four years old, your father brought back an unconscious boy in shabby clothing…..You were secretly hiding behind the door and secretly looking at the boy who had just woken up, before being scared away by his fierce eyes…..” He looked down, looking right into Ran Chen Xin’s eyes as he spoke.
Ran Chen Xin was stunned and looked at him in a stupor for a while. A hand unconsciously went to cover her mouth and after a long time, she finally spoke with a trembling voice, “Big brother Xie Tian…..You’re saying that boy is…..is…..”
“That year, that person saved me from the snow and brought me back to his home. He wiped off the snow from my body to restore the flow of blood and then personally brewed a very bitter medicine, feeding it to me spoonful by spoonful…..I was only five and a half that time and my body had already turned purple from the cold, it was no different from being dead. In this era of selfishness and indifference, anyone that found me would have thought that I was a corpse and stayed away…..Not only did he rescue me, he gave me the small hope that saved me. Finally, after two days, I miraculously woke up…..”
“…..When I woke up, the uncle revealed a happy smile that I can even remember to this day. Only, my heart was filled with resentment and hate, as well as a vigilance of most people, so even though I knew he saved me, I did not say a single ‘thank you’ and just coldly glared at him. However, he did not care at all and faced me with laughter…..I remember that I ate three meals in that uncle’s home that day…..It was the most delicious meals I ever ate as a child and the three most filling meals. That day, the taste of the dishes, I can still clearly remember it all. I also remember that when I woke up, there was a little girl with sheep horn braids secretly looking in on me…..Then with my fierce vigilant gaze, that girl was scared off, not daring to come see me again…..”
Ran Chen Xin covered her mouth, not letting herself let out any excited sounds, but she could not control the excitement that made her lose control of her emotions.
Ye Tian Xie shook his head and gave a regretful sigh, “Only, I didn’t dare believe anyone at that time, so during the night, I secretly left before I was even fully healed…..Before I left, I knew that uncle’s name and I swore that when I had the power, I would repay him for everything because my life was saved by him. That uncle’s name was…..Ran Qing Cheng. Chen Xin, are you familiar with this name?” Returning from his memories, he looked over at Ran Chen Xin and spoke with a faint smile.
The first time he had saw her, he was pulled over by an invisible attraction. He could not control his own feet as they moved towards her…..Finally, he understood the reason why he had been attracted by her. It was not because of the misery she had in her eyes from her suffering, but rather…..those pairs of eyes, not only had a pain that he had encountered before, it was also a distant and dim sense of familiarity.
In the past, that girl that had secretly peeked in on him, he had remembered her for a long time because her eyes were pure. It was as pure as a drop of water falling from the heavens…..After ten years, many parts of her had changed as she became a beauty with peerless grace, but the one thing that did not change were her pure eyes.
