“We’re still here,” Huo Mian immediately responded.
“Mr. Qin is worried about you and Ms. Xixi, so he asked me to come to check up on you guys.”
“We’re fine, we’ll be right back.”
Without wasting another second, Huo Mian and Xixi headed back to the private room; of course Rick and Qin Chu were worried, these pregnant women were the loves of their lives.
They ate and chatted for another two hours before leaving.
Rick sent Xixi back to her parents’ place; like Huo Mian, she had a dozen bodyguards protecting her.
Huo Mian and Qin Chu, on the other hand, went back to GK.
That afternoon, Zhixin suddenly barged into Qin Chu’s office.
“Sis, Chu!”
“What’s wrong? Why are you in such a rush?” Huo Mian placed down her book and looked at Zhixin. He looked like someone had lit his pants on fire.
“Mom just called…”
“Slow down and breathe.” Qin Chu closed his laptop and looked calmly at Zhixin.
“I ran all the way here… whew… I’ll slow down… Mom just called… she told us to head home immediately… something happened.”
“Why didn’t she call me?” Huo Mian asked, a little taken aback.
“Your phone was off.”
Upon hearing this, Huo Mian picked up her phone and looked at it; Zhixin was right, her phone was completely out of juice.
“Didn’t Mom say what happened? What’s the rush?” Huo Mian seemed to have a feel of what happened.
“She said it was something amazing. Anyways, let’s go home, Bella’s already picked up the car. She’s waiting for us downstairs.”
“Mhm, you can head down first. We’ll be right there.” Qin Chu nodded.
Upon hearing this, Zhixin immediately ran out of the office. He could barely contain his excitement.
After Zhixin left, Qin Chu and Huo Mian glanced at each other in unison.
“Honey…”
“He’s here, isn’t he?” Qin Chu guessed.
“Mhm, I knew this was going to happen.” Huo Mian took a deep breath in.
“Don’t worry, you’ll have me.” Qin Chu knew how nervous Huo Mian was.
Qin Chu and Huo Mian left in their car shortly after Zhixin and Bella left in theirs.
– Sky Blessing Court –
Huo Mian’s eyes fixated on a familiar figure as soon as she walked through her mother’s door.
He was sitting on the couch with a blank expression on his face. But… that face, that figure, those clothes…
That was, without a doubt, Uncle Jing! Huo Mian had lived with this man for more than a decade, so naturally she knew him very well. Although this situation was extremely suspicious, Huo Mian couldn’t help but choke back tears upon seeing Jing De’s face.
“Uncle Jing,” she whispered.
Qin Chu, on the other hand, didn’t know Jing De very well. He had only met him a handful of times back when they were still in school.
“Dad!” Zhixin ran up to Jing De and knelt down in front of him, tears streaming down his face.
Bella was flabbergasted and didn’t know what to do. She never factored in the possibility that one day, she would meet Jing Zhixin’s father, who had supposedly been dead for more than a decade.
Yang Meirong stood next to Jing De, tears streaming down her face as well.
Jing De didn’t say anything. He reached out and rubbed the top of Zhixin’s head.
“Dad, I’m not dreaming, right? You’re really back? You are, aren’t you?” Zhixin grabbed Jing De’s hand, unable to control his emotions.
Qin Chu didn’t say a word since he walked in. He quietly placed his hands on Huo Mian’s shoulders, hugging her close.
