It was actual ink. Lin Jin’s Cosmos Ink.
The Cosmos Ink was so phenomenal it could create a tunnel to travel through space via a painting realm. Since he received the ink from Shu Xiaolou, Lin Jin had continued to refine it until his mastery over the item was above Shu Xiaolou, the original creator. After separating it into two drops, one was given to Xiang Yun by placing it on the blood ghost’s blood and the two ghost worms.
After refining the Cosmos Ink, they possessed the capability of linking up no matter where they were. Even here in the extraterritorial zone where the link to the painting realm was weakest, two drops of ink was more than enough to support teleportation.
Two options were made available to Lin Jin when he passed the Cosmos Ink to Xiang Yun. First, when Xiang Yun succeeds in locating Miao Yan Zhenren and the Mystery Dao Sect, Lin Jin could teleport them all here if the situation called for it.
That way, even if they couldn’t secure an unconditional victory against Yan Shenjun and his group, they could at least be evenly matched.
The other option was they could teleport to where Xiang Yun was.
Lin Jin never told anyone about this secret. Even though he had to lie like his life depended on it, he was genuinely able to protect himself.
The situation developed beyond his expectations and not only did they not have to fight Yan Shenjun, they were able to escape safely.
This was a good thing.
Still, Inferno Monk was right. The decision to allow Yan Shenjun to continue living would surely come back to haunt them later on. The man had to be eliminated if they had the chance to.
Before this, defeating Yan Shenjun would have been regarded as an impossible feat. However, moments ago, Lin Jin sensed an update from his blood ghost.
He knew she had accomplished her mission.
Now, blocking off this entrance seemed like a good idea and Lin Jin was sure Yan Shenjun’s group couldn’t handle the heaven weaving spider. Being at Rank 8 made the beast equivalent to an unfettered immortal. They couldn’t win even if they had one more Yan Shenjun. Furthermore, Lin Jin suspected that there would be scarier hurdles after the spider.
It didn’t matter what was being hidden down there, they shouldn’t risk their lives out of greed. Unless he had a death wish, Yan Shenjun would probably retreat too.
When Yan Shenjun comes out, Lin Jin’s faction will move in and kill him immediately. What a brilliant plan.
Of course, they couldn’t do it with just Lin Jin, Inferno Monk, and the oriole alone. Lin Jin needed more firepower.
And now, reinforcements have arrived.
The first immortal to emerge from the Cosmos Ink was Miao Yan Zhenren.
The latter rushed over to Lin Jin anxiously and studied him. After he confirmed that Lin Jin was safe, he heaved a sigh of relief.
“Mr. Lin, you had us all very worried,” said Miao Yan Zhenren.
The second to appear was the Qirin. This creature who looked like a teenage youth was even more anxious as his own life required Lin Jin to stay alive.
The Qirin too heaved a sigh of relief when he saw Lin Jin unharmed.
The reinforcements weren’t limited to these two individuals.
About seven or eight immortals with domineering auras emerged, with Chen Xuankong and Qin Yunshang among their ranks. There was also another profound immortal with them.
She was a female immortal with a unique aura. No doubt, that must be the Immortal Cloud Sect’s Xuan Yue Zhenren.
Following the arrival of two profound immortals who led one of the most influential sects, Lin Jin knew they were safe now.
Leaving aside whether or not anyone from Yan Shenjun’s group got hurt or died, even if everyone was still alive, Lin Jin’s side had the upper hand.
Counting Inferno Monk, they now had three profound immortals while Yan Shenjun only had two.
In terms of half immortals, Lin Jin’s side had numerical superiority too.
Thus, Lin Jin was in a tremendous mood.
This meeting called for a round of pleasantries. Lin Jin noticed Xiang Yun return and stand behind him silently. Lin Jin nodded at her and she responded with a smile.
Xiang Yun had done all she could to inform the Mystery Dao Sect, so he was satisfied.
On the other hand, since Inferno Monk Miao Yan Zhenren had fought not long ago, there was an awkward atmosphere between them.
The two enemies were now forced to work together as allies.
Lin Jin needed to play his role as the mediator. He went over to greet Miao Yan Zhenren and Xuan Yue Zhenren first before introducing Inferno Monk to ease the tension. Then, he told them what happened.
The tales of his risky adventures awed Miao Yan Zhenren and Xuan Yue Zhenren. They were surprised by how lucky Lin Jin was but little did they know, Lin Jin survived thanks to his wits. Every risk Lin Jin took had a corresponding backup plan.
Still, the fact that a mortal like him could compete with a profound immortal in wits and courage proved just how exceptional he was.
Of course, they would never attribute Lin Jin’s success to himself. Instead, their imagination led them to give the credit to Curator, and Lin Jin could tell. He couldn’t bother to explain his situation either. He thought it was best they thought that way since he wouldn’t expose himself.
“So, Yan Shenjun will most probably retreat through here and we just have to attack him once he’s worn out?” asked Miao Yan Zhenren.
Lin Jin nodded.
This was the plan Lin Jin and Inferno Monk came up with but it required Miao Yan Zhenren and Xuan Yue Zhenren’s cooperation as they were the main attack force.
“Alright. Then I’ll do as Mr. Lin says and wait here. Eliminating Yan Shenjun is a good deed after all.” Miao Yan Zhenren nodded in agreement. Simply put, if this idea came from someone else, he wouldn’t give them the time of day. This was an indication of the level of respect he had for Lin Jin.
One reason for this was because Lin Jin had the support of Curator, an unfettered immortal. They couldn’t afford to offend someone whom they regarded as a senior. The other reason was that their sect’s Qirin required treatment, so they had to depend on Lin Jin. For these two reasons, it didn’t matter what kind of absurd requests Lin Jin had, Miao Yan Zhenren would never reject it.
Xuan Yue Zhenren wouldn’t reject Lin Jin either as the Immortal Cloud Sect was facing a problem similar to the Mystery Dao Sect. After this, she would invite Lin Jin back to her sect so he could treat their immortal beast.
However, compared to the Mystery Dao Sect, she wasn’t in a hurry. Wise as she was, Xuan Yue Zhenren would help Lin Jin first so he would owe them a favor. This would lead to future negotiations.
Moreover, the Immortal Cloud Sect thought of ridding evil as their duty anyway.
With their discussion concluded, the three profound immortals, Miao Yan, Xuan Yue, and Inferno Monk, set up a profound immortal formation at the cave’s entrance to wait for Yan Shenjun and his group.
They would launch an all-out attack and get rid of this evil group once and for all.
