Lin Jin thought he would be meeting Yan Shenjun’s disciple next.
Yet, he was brought into a spacious cave where Yan Shenjun told him to rest well before departing.
The man had urgent matters to attend to.
There, Lin Jin waited patiently. After one entire day of waiting, he realized he was being imprisoned.
Throughout the day, Lin Jin was served by quite a few immortal servants. Problem was, while Yan Shenjun could treat them as servants, Lin Jin couldn’t. These servants were genuine immortals and Lin Jin was almost certain that they were here for surveillance purposes.
Despite being held captive, this cave contained much great stuff.
Many immortal cultivation books were available in the study, and they were left there without any restrictions placed on them. Lin Jin could read them as he pleased and the collection was greater than what the Mystery Dao Sect could offer.
Apart from books, there were also various pills lying around. All of them were top-quality immortal pills. Interestingly, these items were also open for Lin Jin’s access.
There was even a huge furnace here.
Apart from the fact that Lin Jin was being held captive, this place was surprisingly nice. Yan Shenjun was generous enough to offer Lin Jin a wide supply of herbs and ingredients too.
Upon learning about this, Lin Jin simply flipped through the ingredients to craft a few ‘blazing pills’, which were beneficial for Xiao Huo.
Once Lin Jin obtained the nine sun quartz, he would be able to promote Xiao Huo to Rank 6 if he supplemented the process with the blazing pills.
Of course, the key here was still the nine sun quartz.
A rough calculation told Lin Jin that tonight was the reopening of the Visitation Hall. Because Lin Jin had immortal servants serving him around the clock, he had zero privacy.
After considering his options, Lin Jin decided not to hide anything.
Since Yan Shenjun was well-informed enough to be aware of Curator’s existence, why not just show him what Lin Jin was capable of?
Lin Jin assumed that Yan Shenjun’s courtesy was done out of respect for Curator. That being the case, Lin Jin should just use the Visitation Hall to intimidate him a bit.
Although it was intimidation by deception, they were already in a duel of tactics. When the time called for ingenuity, there was no need for Lin Jin to hide everything.
This was also one way Lin Jin could protect his life.
But before that, he still had to craft the blazing pills.
The materials here were sufficient and the furnace was capable of crafting magic treasures. It would be a waste to just let it sit there, so why not use it?
Having explored all his options, there was nothing left to hold Lin Jin back. He still had one last resort, and that was to hide inside the Visitation Hall. Hence, there wasn’t any need for him to fear Yan Shenjun.
The blazing pill’s prescription could be found in the description of Xiao Huo’s evolution method. As the pill was required to push a pet beast to Rank 6, it was of a considerably high grade; it was comparable to an immortal pill.
Even if Lin Jin knew the prescription, he wasn’t an immortal. No matter how careful he was, he would still fail to craft the pill the first time.
Usually, Lin Jin’s heart would ache at the loss of the precious ingredients. However, since he wasn’t relying on his personal stash, it didn’t take long for him to start the furnace again.
Unsurprisingly, pelletizing a blazing pill was so difficult that he failed the second time too.
Lin Jin reevaluated his approach and realized that he had been very meticulous in each step; he even made sure to take into consideration some of the finer details.
Still, he failed.
The problem here might just be his cultivation realm.
An immortal pill. If he wasn’t an immortal, how could he craft an immortal pill?
Perhaps that sounded a bit too extreme. Perhaps with time, Lin Jin could come up with other ideas. However, if a shortcut was available, why should he go through all that trouble?
Lin Jin summoned the immortal servants.
As the immortal servants heeded Yan Shenjun’s command, they were respectful toward Lin Jin. At the very least, they appeared to be respectful on the surface. Even if it was merely an act, Lin Jin didn’t mind playing along.
“Which one of you knows how to pelletize?” asked Lin Jin.
These servants were immortals. So long as they knew how to pelletize, if Lin Jin provided a detailed prescription, they should have a higher success rate compared to him.
That being the case, why should Lin Jin trouble himself?
He could also test if these immortal servants would heed his requests.
A female immortal stepped forward, indicating she knew pelletization.
Lin Jin didn’t dawdle and wrote down the blazing pill’s prescription for her. The fairy read through the prescription and thought nothing of it.
“It’s only a 2nd-grade immortal pill. I will craft it now.”
Having said that, she bowed and approached the furnace to start it.
Lin Jin instructed the other immortal servants to resume their tasks. Then, he stood beside the furnace to observe the process. He had to admit, immortals were so much more adept than he was when it came to pelletization.
The fairy invoked a spell with her slender fingers, and several fire seals shot forward, heating the furnace with raging flames. However, with another seal, she made the flames stick to the furnace walls before she tossed in the ingredients, enveloping them with varying amounts of immortal energy.
In the end, she bit her finger and added a few drops of immortal blood to the mixture.
None of these steps were listed in the prescription so it was a method unique to the fairy. Lin Jin didn’t stop her. Judging by her pelletization methods, she was a much better alchemist than Lin Jin.
A grade-schooler should never disturb a professor while they worked.
In about an hour, light shone from inside the furnace, and fire clouds puffed out. Several pills were launched out and the fairy seized them before placing them within a porcelain bottle, which she handed to Lin Jin.
Everything was done in one smooth movement like flowing water.
Having seen many things in life, Lin Jin believed that her pelletization skills were one of a kind, even among immortals. Her appearance was quite exceptional too. Most of the immortal servants were female, and although this fairy wasn’t the prettiest, she was surely up there.
Apart from her proficiency in pelletization, she must have a strong background.
However, the fairy had no intention to talk. She retreated after handing Lin Jin the pills.
Lin Jin didn’t ask either. A rough guess told Lin Jin that night had already fallen. He put the pills away, and then right before the eyes of several immortal servants, he opened the Visitation Hall’s door and stepped inside.
No doubt, a restriction was placed on the cave to prevent Lin Jin from escaping. Thankfully, it did not disrupt Lin Jin’s access to the Visitation Hall. It was when he stood before the iconic metal door that he breathed a sigh of relief.
Being able to enter the Visitation Hall was a good thing.
This proved that no matter where Lin Jin was, regardless of the risk, so long as he had access to the Visitation Hall, he could move away from any type of danger fate decided to throw at him.
