It was certainly a shocking sight to behold. Everyone present, be it He Qing, Ye Yuzhou, or Ghost Child were stunned. They were so baffled that they had no idea what had just happened.
Zhao Jingyan was wide-eyed. The shock made it impossible for her to speak.
Lin Jin was sensing the energy of the ashes in his hand. To be honest, while he was able to see this pile of ashes, he had no idea what it was. It was also partly why he reached out to grab it at the first instance, as he could only figure out what it was by making physical contact with it.
Now, he knew.
Under the mask, Lin Jin wore an excited expression.
While visitor number eleven’s pet beast amazed him due to how rare and formidable it was, that was still nothing compared to visitor twelve’s pet beast.
‘A phoenix?’
Lin Jin was surprised.
As far as he knew, phoenixes were considered ‘sacred beasts’. While it was true that he had seen many rare beasts after coming to this world it was still his first time seeing a phoenix.
Moreover, it was a ‘dead’ phoenix.
When a human dies, their life energy would be completely extinguished. The same was went for pet beasts but why were these ashes hiding behind their owner?
In most cases, the aura of a dead beast should have dissipated a long time ago.
What’s more, he could touch it with his own hands.
Staring at the scorching ashes, Lin Jin fell into deep thought.
Despite not asking, Lin Jin figured out why this woman was in such despair. No one would be happy if such a rare beast died.
Lin Jin was now reading through the ‘phoenix’s description in the museum. No doubt, the specimen’s daunting appearance shown by the museum was somewhat different from what Lin Jin had imagined.
However, it was good enough. Appreciably intimidating with fiery feathers, it was somewhat similar to the Golden Crow Lin Jin had encountered. At first, Lin Jin thought a phoenix would be stronger than a Golden Crow, but after comparing their statistics in the museum, despite its significant strength, the phoenix was far inferior compared to the Golden Crow.
Lin Jin was subconsciously reminded of the Golden Crow he had seen in the Nine-Heaven Realm. As the Golden Crow soared across the skies, no beast dared to cross its path. In other words, its might was one of a kind.
Though, this phoenix wasn’t half bad. It had attained a high rank of 5 before dying and that itself is pretty amazing.
These thoughts flashed through Lin Jin’s mind.
The people in the Visitation Hall were stunned by ‘Curator’s capability. Even Zhao Jingyan stayed silent. Other than shock, she also felt a strong sense of curiosity.
As Lin Jin held the ashes in his hand, he could see how the embers were gradually dying away. According to the museum, if there were still glowing embers, a dead phoenix could rise again from a ‘Nirvana’ rebirth.
However, there was no such thing as Nirvana in this world. Looking at the ashes in his hand, Lin Jin spoke after a brief thought, “It is fate that led us here. I can’t just watch you die like this. Never mind. It doesn’t require much effort anyway. Let me give you a chance at Nirvana.”
Lin Jin’s words were directed at the ashes.
With a squeeze of his hand, majestic flames emerged from Lin Jin’s fist. It was a fire so forceful that everyone else took a step back.
The brilliantly burning flames terrified them. No one was willing to come in direct contact with the fire, due to the fear of burning to death. And yet, Curator seemed unfazed at all as he continued to grip on tightly. Then, they heard strange cracking sounds and with each crack, sparks would fly out as the heat and smoke grew in intensity.
However, the smoke didn’t just dissipate. It simply hovered above, gathering in layers until it formed a dark cloud. What’s more peculiar was how the smoke cloud seemed to have a will of its own.
“Condense!” Lin Jin shouted as he increased his strength.
He had been using the Dharma body’s firepower. By borrowing strength from the Curator’s mask, the Dharma body’s firepower increased by a fold, allowing him to use these flames to keep the ashes together.
Following Lin Jin’s command, the ashes in his hand began to consolidate under the pressure of his firepower. At the same time, the dense layers of smoke above Lin Jin quickly returned, flowing into the consolidating pile.
A scene this harrowing was something they had never witnessed before.
“Truly remarkable!” praised Ye Yuzhou. The rest of the visitors were just as impressed. If instructions on such a skill were given to them step by step, they probably couldn’t do it.
He Qing had stars in her eyes.
“Curator is clearly condensing that ash pile with his supernatural powers, but what for?” Black Crow was much more concerned about the glowing pile in Curator’s hand.
Although it was being wrapped by fire, the core of that pile was shining radiantly like smelted iron.
This was a question that intrigued the others as well.
Once the smoke and ashes were sucked into Curator’s palm, the fire began to gradually die away revealing something in its place.
Everyone inadvertently took a few steps forward to get a closer look. An egg was now sitting in Curator’s hand.
It was massive, about one size bigger than a goose egg. However, despite its large size, it was still just an egg. An egg born out of flames.
No one knew what this egg was about. Even Zhao Jingyan who was standing in the closest proximity had no idea but she threw out a wild guess. Her expression revealed fright with hints of anticipation.
“Here.” Lin Jin handed her the egg and the latter received it like a frightened little girl.
To think the great commander of ‘Phoenix Palace’ would actually be this flustered. It was an amusing sight, as the way she cared for the egg was a stark contrast from how casually Lin Jin handled it.
Paying her no mind, Lin Jin was quite happy now. He had just borrowed the flames from Xiao Huo’s Dharma body to help the phoenix condense a Nirvana body.
The egg was that ‘body’.
It was advantageous for Lin Jin as well because he managed to absorb portions of the phoenix’s flames which had the effect of enhancing Xiao Huo’s Dharma body and replenishing Lin Jin’s Dragonfire.
All in all, it was a win-win situation.
Though, whether or not the other person would benefit from this depended on luck. Although condensing the ‘Nirvana body’ was something Lin Jin performed according to the museum’s evaluation results, and he had completed it rather successfully…
Whether or not this egg would hatch, and whether or not the dead phoenix could achieve a Nirvana rebirth was unknown. There was always the looming possibility of getting a dud egg.
Of course, Lin Jin wouldn’t say that right now and what’s more, the woman didn’t ask about it.
