Next, Qu Wenji began playing the guqin as the western beauty danced.
No doubt, the music was divine and the dance ethereal.
The veil on the western beauty suddenly fell away on its own, fluttering down the stage, immediately causing the crowd below to go into a frenzy as they tried to snatch it for themselves.
The western beauty had long, slender limbs and defined features. Her nose bridge was high and she had chestnut brown hair with sapphire eyes. Her beauty was different from Qu Wenji’s, which was a standard here in the United Continent. Hers was exotic. At least to Lin Jin, the western beauty wasn’t exactly prettier than Qu Wenji but her style was definitely distinct.
As a dancer, the western beauty was certainly a master of her trade. Even Lin Jin could tell how amazing she was at the art of dancing.
But all of a sudden, something happened.
Someone jumped out from the neighboring room and landed briskly on the stage. Swiftly, he lifted both ladies who were in the middle of their performance by their waists before darting for the door.
No one was able to stop him and in that instant, tables shattered and dishes flew everywhere.
While Grace Pavilion had guards and experts, all of them were sent flying by the man’s brute strength. Some unlucky ones were so badly struck that they spat blood before being knocked out cold on the ground.
“That fiend!” Zuo Wentang exploded before jumping out immediately to pursue the culprit.
Lin Jin frowned. The main hall below was in a state of chaos but Lin Jin remembered there wasn’t only one person in the room next door.
The next instant, someone emerged from that room. It was the Grassy Continent native with the king cobra’s aura. Following beside him were two guards. No doubt, the monster from earlier was the fanatic that kidnapped the girls.
The remaining three Grassy Continent locals were snickering and smirking as they promptly left. Now one was paying them any attention right now.
After giving it some thought, Lin Jin figured it would be unwise to leave things as is. Though, what compelled Lin Jin to act was how fond Zuo Wentang was of Qu Wenji. Otherwise, the man’s expression wouldn’t have faltered and he would never have abandoned such an important guest to go after the abductor. Hence, Lin Jin couldn’t just sit still and watch.
And so, he leaped over to block the three perpetrator’s path.
“My good men, will you be leaving just like that?” Lin Jin’s tone was polite and reserved, but the men he faced were the opposite of that.
The two natives dressed as guards both stepped forward, left and right, with one throwing a punch while the other pushed a palm forward. In an instant, two supposedly normal human beings seemed to have combined their attacks, triggering a massive outburst of power. Lin Jin could even see the illusion of a huge Grassy Continent elephant charging at him.
It was attack at first sight.
These Grassy Continent natives were really savage.
Lin Jin couldn’t afford to be careless now. After all, that terrifying burst of power was now heading straight for him. Regulating Xiao Huo’s might, clenching his left fist and pushing his right palm forward, Lin Jin did the opposite of their attacks. As their fists and palms collided, the ice and fire energy swamped the entire area.
In this desperate situation, that was the quickest counter-attack Lin Jin could afford to take. The force of the natives’ joint attack was certainly oppressive, and under the impact, Lin Jin felt as if he was smashed by the weight of an adult elephant.
Lin Jin was sent flying, crashing through the wooden screen behind him.
“You overestimate yourself!” The native in the middle smirked before stepping away. His subordinates looked grim as they hurried after him. It was clear that they were in pain too.
Once outside, the middle-aged native noticed something wrong so he frowned at once, asking, “What’s wrong with you two?”
“King Yan, that person from earlier ain’t normal. We can’t feel our arms right now and we think…” The two subordinates looked pained as they kept sweating bullets.
Taking a closer look at both their arms, one could see that one was frozen solid while the other’s arm was scorched black by fire.
“Useless!” the man whom they referred to as ‘King Yan’ barked. Then, he hastened his pace, prompting his subordinates to grit their teeth and follow him. They were trying to break out of the city using the commotion as an opportunity.
However, unbeknownst to them, someone was tailing them from behind.
It was Lin Jin.
Lin Jin hadn’t been careful earlier so he was sent flying back. Their strength was unexpected and Lin Jin had never faced a joint attack before so he ended up suffering a little.
Still, it was the two natives who suffered more.
Lin Jin was only pushed back and suffered minor injuries while the two Grassy Continent natives probably couldn’t use their arms anymore. Hence, it was still Lin Jin who gained the upper hand.
Though, he was irked right now.
Very irked.
He had merely asked a question and the only reply he got was pure violence. It was fine since it was Lin Jin and all, but what if this happened to someone else? Wouldn’t they have died from that?
That poor person’s bones would have been turned into powder and he’d never get to see his family again.
This was what annoyed Lin Jin. Forget this being somehow related to Zuo Wentang, even if it didn’t, Lin Jin would still take it into his hands.
Using Camouflage and enhancing himself with the Carrier Cloud, no matter how fast the natives ran, even if they were already outside the city, they couldn’t possibly outrun Lin Jin.
The confrontation with Lin Jin meant that these Grassy Continent natives now knew that there were experts in Maple City. There was absolutely no reason to linger around any longer. They had it all planned out, and with this speed, said experts wouldn’t be able to react in time nor stop them. After all, it had only been moments since the kidnapping until now.
Outside the city, the natives continued they escape westward. In fact, Lin Jin could have stopped them while they were still within the city walls.
But he chose not to do it.
As mentioned earlier, Lin Jin was annoyed so he wanted to clarify what these guys were up to before taking action. It didn’t matter what they sought to achieve, he would wreck it all just because they ticked him off.
The three men were currently discussing something. Lin Jin used a skill that enabled him to walk above them. It was the Cloud Stairs ability.
It happened to be pitch dark outside, and with the Camouflage in effect, the three men failed to register Lin Jin’s presence.
“Can the two of you hold out?” King Yan asked, sounding displeased.
“Yes, King Yan. We think we can.” How could the injured guards ever say no? They understood their master’s character well. If the man thought of them as deadweights, he might just abandon them. So even if they couldn’t endure the pain, they had to grit their teeth and suck it up.
“Hmph! There aren’t many experts in Jade Dragon Kingdom, and even more so in Maple City. I’ve heard of only one Ye Yuzhou who can fight while the others can’t even do anything. That brat who stopped us just now definitely wasn’t Ye Yuzhou so to think you were injured by some no-name kid. I should have you two buffoons punished when we get back. But I’m feeling joyous today. Not only can we bring Tilly back, but we also brought along a United Continent beauty. Haha! So worry not. Only reward awaits you when we get back.”
King Yan was laughing out loud, visibly in a pleasant mood.
The guards breathed sighs of relief and quickly said, “Congratulations King Yan on obtaining new beauties. Once again, King Yan’s harem is joined by two more ladies.”
This seemed to please King Yan even more.
“Haha, you’re right. It’s time to build a few more mansions to house my harem. Also, that Tilly has to be taught a lesson. To think that she has the nerves to run away to work in such an indecent place after my marriage proposal. If I don’t teach her a lesson, my rage won’t ever subside!” On the topic of what annoyed him, King Yan’s voice was filled with murderous intent. His subordinates stayed silent in fear of saying something wrong that might incur their master’s wrath.
