Various ancient books and legends described demons are powerful and horrifying. Yet, such was not true.
If an average human harbored an obsession, he too could turn into a demon. But the extent of his strength would depend on that person’s initial strength. If it was a normal person, he would be a normal demon. Similarly in Hu Yuzhen’s case, she was already at the peak of Rank 5 before she turned into a demon.
However, according to the museum, that wasn’t all to demons. Due to their intense obsession, the demon couldn’t pull themselves away and would constantly end up doing something horrible and outrageous.
To slay a demon meant destroying their obsession.
With an idea in mind, Lin Jin began, “Miss Hu, what do you think a Dharma body is?”
He started his guidance.
Clearly having researched this question before, Hu Yuzhen answered effortlessly without missing a beat, “The Dharma body naturally means having the cosmic laws incorporated into one’s body. Away from the old body and having our spirits renewed. Phenomenal powers would come easily and stream endlessly while the physical body never erodes…”
The tigress answered eloquently. It was easy to tell how much effort she had put into deciphering the Dharma body yet failed to attain the proper path to cultivate it.
She couldn’t be blamed for this and it wasn’t because she had bad luck either. Quite the contrary, not every person or monster could successfully attain a Dharma body just because they wished it.
In other words, achieving a Dharma body was only a possibility on the path of cultivation but not the only possibility.
God knows who told her that achieving the Dharma body was the only possible way she could break through her bottleneck situation, but Lin Jin could be certain that it wasn’t true. That person may have said so on purpose, or not, but this misleading information ended up harming Hu Yuzhen. To describe this in an idiom, it was ‘an incompetent teacher hampering a student’s progress’.
Even if Lin Jin had the Museum of Deadly Beasts, he couldn’t help Hu Yuzhen condense a Dharma body right now.
The Dharma body relied heavily on destiny. If one was fated enough to meet one, that was that. If they didn’t, several thousand years of wait would still end in vain.
And Hu Yuzhen’s predicament was clearly the latter.
To put it bluntly, Hu Yuzhen could never achieve a Dharma body.
It wasn’t meant for her.
At least the museum didn’t state so. As for whether or not he could use Xiao Huo’s Dharma body method on her, Lin Jin was skeptical. If he could, the museum would have told him so.
But he couldn’t say so upfront, shattering her hopes and pushing her into despair. Although she had turned into a demon, there was still hope if her obsession was destroyed. If he told her the truth, the tigress might fall into an immediate frenzy. Once the demonic seed rooted itself too deeply, she would lose her sense of reason and turn into an evil demon that only knew how to kill.
When that happened, what Lin Jin had to slay was not her obsession but her physical being and soul.
At this, Lin Jin decided to use the art of stalling, wondering if he could gradually dissolve her obsession with words. Of course, he could just leave her be, but since the museum came up with a Demon Slaying Hall, it must have wanted Lin Jin to slay Hu Yuzhen’s obsession. If he didn’t grasp this opportunity, he might just miss out on something awesome.
“Xiao Huo, come here.” Lin Jin beckoned Xiao Huo over and the latter quickly jumped over in an agile manner. With the natural glow on his body, he seemed to have left a trail of light in the dark night that disappeared quickly after that.
This was the excellence of a Dharma body.
Hu Yuzhen’s eyes were sparkling as she stared at Xiao Huo.
Lin Jin continued, “What my pet beast has achieved is the Yin Yang Dharma body.”
“Yin Yang Dharma body?” Hu Yuzhen’s breath grew shorter as her ears perked up. She knew that this expert was planning to teach her now.
“That’s right. The Yin Yang Dharma body. By combining extreme Yin and extreme Yang, achieving a balance with cosmic powers, the Dharma body is formed. While the Dharma body is incredible, cultivating one wouldn’t be easy. So if you want to cultivate the Dharma body, it isn’t something you can achieve immediately.” Lin Jin meant to tell her not to rush and take it slow.
Hu Yuzhen was staring at Xiao Huo’s Dharma body with intense envy. At Lin Jin’s words, she quickly nodded. “I understand what you mean. I’ve traveled so many places all these years but fail to find a solution so I know that condensing a Dharma body wouldn’t be easy. But I believe that with your guidance, I will one day achieve a Dharma body.”
Having said that, she was about to prostrate to show Lin Jin her respect.
Lin Jin stopped her at once.
“If you guide me on the path to attaining a Dharma body, you will be equivalent to Yuzhen’s second parent. Once I achieve this Dharma body, I will obey your every command unconditionally, Sir.” Hu Yuzhen insisted on the salute.
Lin Jin didn’t stop her this time. Although he didn’t have a method to condense a Dharma body for this tigress, if he succeeded in slaying her demons, that would mean rescuing her. By slaying her demons and destroying her obsession, this tigress could then evolve easily. Hence, accepting her salute, for now, would be fine.
It was now midnight.
Lin Jin suddenly sensed something. Looking up, he saw a bright moon as the gentle night breeze ceased. The next instant, this place experienced an abrupt change. An invisible aura began to overflow from the yard as a fog emerged out of nowhere. Lin Jin could clearly see a swirl inside the fog as if it was linked to somewhere else. Similar to when his Visitation Hall opened, where the door would lead him to another dimension.
An average person couldn’t notice this strange phenomenon and it was so for the white ape and zombie cthulhu. Only Xiao Huo was glaring at the swirl, growling dangerously.
The next instant, someone came out of the swirl.
He had the head of a lion and the body of a man. Donning scaled armor, he held a seven-foot flowing cloud hammer and could be described as looking almighty. Once outside, the lion looked around, visibly surprised.
“Why are there only so little of you?”
It seemed like he assumed there would be more people here.
A lion monster.
Lin Jin was curious as to where this lion monster came from. He couldn’t tell at all. There were rolling mists at the feet of this lion and Lin Jin assumed it was some sort of concealment magic. At least White Ape and the zombie cthulhu didn’t realize the lion monster’s existence thus far.
At the sight of this lion, Hu Yuzhen stepped forward. “General Lion, greetings!”
Having said that, she bowed.
“It’s you!” The lion monster glanced at her, clearly recognizing her.
After that, as if recalling something, he flared up in anger. “Right, I clearly had someone release information that there would be a Beastmaster Fourth Scroll here so this place shouldn’t be empty. Let me ask you, is it because you ate them all? The nerve of you, you tiger monster!”
He was clearly condemning her.
Hu Yuzhen frowned. “General Lion, don’t you accuse me. I only ate two insensible fools and touched no one else. The others got scared and ran away by themselves.”
“How dare you talk back!” The lion monster held up his flowing cloud hammer, letting out a burst of pressuring energy. “I showed you mercy the last time and let you leave. To think you would come back again and scare away the humans. How should I report this now? I have to teach you a lesson today.”
Having said that, he swung his hammer.
