Yet, no matter how brutal and vicious Evil Scholar was, his limited strength was a fact and disadvantage. When the Rank 3 jade dragons attacked him again, he was soon covered in wounds.
Meanwhile, Black Crow was fully occupied with fighting the blood bat, unable to divide his attention. Both of them were almost balanced in strength though this balance might soon topple over.
“Old Black, think of something or I’ll die!” Evil Scholar suddenly shouted. He couldn’t hold on much longer.
Evil Scholar was a great cook, a good storyteller, and an educated man in their community. However, fighting was not his forte. His white cat wasn’t that strong either so they were just barely holding out.
He couldn’t begin to compare with an expert like Black Crow. According to Evil Scholar, anyone at Black Crow’s level was considered insane and right now, he was fighting these insane people. Who could possibly hold out that long?
Black Crow was getting anxious too.
However, Blood Bat wasn’t a weak lass. Both of their pet beasts were Rank 4 and possessed incredible recovery abilities. If he had more time, Black Crow was sure he could defeat her, but right now, it was impossible.
“Scholar, hold out a little longer. The commotion here is loud enough so I think Ghost Child and Coffin Man must have noticed. When either of them shows up, we can easily beat these guys.”
Black Crow practically shouted it out loud not only for Evil Scholar to hear but also for Blood Bat and Python Monk’s group the hear.
It was a psychological tactic.
Sure enough, Python Monk stiffened at the names.
Ghost Child?
Coffin Man?
An average person wouldn’t have known who they were talking about. But as members of the villainous community and experts ranked within the top twenty, these people naturally knew who their peers were.
Even if they had never met each other, these nicknames had a sizable reputation.
Both Ghost Child and Coffin Man were individuals he and Blood Bat couldn’t afford to offend. Madam Ghost Child in particular, whose name could even silence a crying infant, was extra terrifying. Even as villainous experts of the same community, they would never want to provoke her.
Too many villainous experts had died in Madam Ghost Child’s hands.
Looking grim, Python Monk urged the others. Blood Bat was scowling. She knew how fearsome those two individuals were. If it was as Black Crow said, that someone like Madam Ghost Child would show up, they had best retreat now.
Their client in the cape and hat let out an eerie chuckle. “And you would believe such trickery? Regardless, just kill these people now. Even if an expert really shows up later, there’s no need to fear. Don’t forget, this is Jade Dragon Kingdom.”
His tone was laced with absolute confidence.
Although the man never revealed his identity, being able to control these jade dragons proved that he was probably a highly ranked official of Jade Dragon Kingdom and an individual of great authority. Based on this factor, Python Monk and Blood Bat had an advantage.
“If that’s the case, we’ll give it our all.” Python Monk flashed a savage smile and began playing his flute again. The python constricting the white ape began to grow thicker.
Not only that but dozens of tiny wreath snakes as thick as fingers came crawling out of Python Monk’s sleeve. Once the snakes came out, Python Monk seemed to have aged quite a few years. Those tiny snakes immediately slithered toward Old Taoist, Black Crow, and Evil Scholar.
“Be careful, those snakes are poisonous!” Black Crow’s pupils dilated as he tried his best to control his black falcon. However, the blood bat was shrouded in a thick bloody mist where its speed greatly increased, keeping the black falcon occupied so he didn’t have time for anything else.
A little further away in Hu Tea House.
Ghost Child got up and looked toward the distance where Black Crow and Evil Scholar had gone off to, sensing something. After a thought, she turned to Coffin Man.
“Old Coffin, stay here. If Curator’s disciple shows up, remember to be extra respectful. I think something’s wrong over there so I’ll go and take a look.”
Then, Ghost Child was gone in a flash, disappearing without a trace.
Coffin Man nodded despite this and then turned to Old Hu. The latter was looking down at his feet, not daring to breathe too loudly, and praying that this strange man would leave quickly.
Those little snakes Python Monk had unleashed were nearing their targets. The situation had suddenly become dangerous.
At that moment, Madam Ghost Child arrived.
Carrying her swaddle, she glanced around. Although she had no idea what was going on, at times like these, no explanation was needed. She just had to fight.
Evil Scholar and Black Crow lit up at the sight of Madam Ghost Child. Evil Scholar who was initially terrified of Ghost Child now found her to be as amiable as a goddess deity.
While their faction rejoiced, the other sulked.
Both Python Monk and Blood Bat were trembling inside when they saw Madam Ghost Child.
Even meeting Madam Ghost Child under normal circumstances was frightening enough, much less in this situation. They had gone all out earlier that none of them had much strength left to spare.
Madam Ghost Child was coming for them and they don’t have any fight left.
Even their client, the mysterious man in a hat, was shocked. However, he was a man of quick wits so he shouted, “Madam Ghost Child of South Continent, Black Crow and Evil Scholar of West Continent, why are villainous experts such as yourselves getting involved in our Jade Dragon Kingdom’s matters? This has nothing to do with you so don’t go looking for trouble. Leave at once.”
The man was obviously offering them a way out, but Madam Ghost Child was an odd character. If she ever decided to take action, there was no room for negotiations nor did she care.
For example, now. As if she hadn’t heard him, Madam Ghost Child walked towards them. It had only been a few steps but Python Monk’s group felt immense pressure.
Suddenly, a dragon’s howl reverberated from the faraway Jade Dragon Temple. The strange thing was, only Madam Ghost Child could hear it.
In an instant, her expression wavered and she stopped.
“A Rank 5 dragon beast!”
Madam Ghost Child could sense powerful strength behind that howl. It was laced with a warning. A blatant warning.
Now, Madam Ghost Child was stirred up.
If it was a Rank 5 dragon beast, both her and Coffin Man combined couldn’t win.
Under normal circumstances, if benefits weren’t involved, the best option for them was to retreat.
At least that would prevent them from having to deal with the Rank 5 dragon.
Yet, Madam Ghost Child didn’t leave immediately. Instead, she turned to Black Crow, meaning to seek his opinion.
After all, Madam Ghost Child had no idea what happened here earlier. But since Black Crow decided to get involved, he must have had a reason.
Black Crow didn’t hear that dragon’s howl but from Madam Ghost Child’s reaction, he knew that something was intimidating her.
And so, Black Crow shouted, “That fire wolf over there is most probably the Curator’s disciple’s pet beast.”
At this, Madam Ghost Child knew why Black Crow got involved.
She turned to the fire wolf who was being restrained by a Rank 4 jade dragon. If this fire wolf truly belonged to Curator’s disciple, Ghost Child knew she had to get involved.
Even if it meant going against that Rank 5 dragon, she couldn’t chicken out.
